trees trees.. wonderfull trees. Can't go wrong with those.. I pulled some nifty tricks with photoshop filters and layers to get a bark like look. Turned out not too bad I think..

I altered the woman a few times.. I had her more muscled and had her wearing a different top (was a more basic vest with a collar..) however it did not lend itself to the whimsical nature I wanted for this painting. So I softened her and changed the top to something more flowing. I think it turned out ok.

I used the thing they tell you to stay away from and that's the lense flare but toned down as it is I think it lends itself to the image.

Anyway, longer than usual.. 4.5-5 hours I think.. Judging by my hand.. too long.. ow. :) Anyway, wacom, photoshop 5. Used a few different refs for the face.. had some trouble with the lips. (as usual)

Very nice indeed! I like the high contrast between the background and central figures. She's pretty cute too! :)

I've been inspired by looking at your pics, and the fact that you can create them so quickly. Once I am closer to completing the first version of DMCodex, I'm going to buy a graphics tablet and start painitng again (digitally). I used to paint but haven't done it for over ten years, so I think it's something I'd like to get back in to.

Keep up the good work!

you know.. Photoshop cuts the time in half.. the undo option spoils you though.. I could never do this on canvas. I'd be at it for days..

That and the fact that it would never end up as neat as this does..

I can't wait to see both the your page.. (I've been very.. very patiently waiting for the interviews.. I want to know what the artist had to say.. :) And Wayne too.. And to see any new paintings you might come up with..

Anyway, thanks for the kind words.. moo

Sadly, no interviews from Wayne. He doesn't want anything to do with DM anymore...

weird.. one of the most popular games in the history of adventure RPG.. it's been ported to more systems than any game I know. It's still loved evern today.. new players are found for it to.. and they too love the game despite it's age. It's really his biggest success in his career.. and he wants nothing to do with it?

crazy...

I haven't been in touch with him myself. But through Don Jordan (who he still sees regularly), I've been informed that it's more a case of Wayne's age and issues in his personal life. He must be in his late fifties by now. I think that he wants to remember it fondly rather than bring it all up again, and he's been approached MANY times over the years and asked for interviews, to which he's declined.

However, no-one has yet undertaken the kind of DM history project that my site will be. I'm hoping that once it goes on-line, and he sees it, he might be willing to give an interview...

I also need to get back in touch with David Darrow (box artist). When I first approached him he wasn't able to help, again due to personal issues and lack of time. I'll approach him again once the first version is on-line.
