Poll:

What was the most difficult thing for you to find out in 1) DM, 2) CSB ?

Hmm. A lot of things I still don't know (or never tried them out, most of them stat raising items that are not obvious), but I remember that I never found out about that trigger in the knight level of DM just before the teleporter that keeps the spiders and knights back. Directly on the corner before -if memory still serves me- there is a trigger reproducing the Oitus...

I did not know for a long time and often went back and forth there, making little headway since more spiders kept coming ;)

For CSB I'd say the door with the turqouise key (Neta way?) where you have to get a skeleton behind and kill it to get its sword via a teleporter on a trigger to close a pit on the D.D.D. was one of the hardest.

Maybe not very unique, but you asked ;)

the last thing i found in DM (it was the only secret i found out with dmute) were the boots of speed behind the stairs to the fader/knight-level.
the funniest riddle is the clockwise-part :)

Yes, the clockwise puzzle was the most difficult thing to figure out for me in DM too. In CSB it was the Wrath of God.

I remember another funny episode from early CSB days...

I was playing the game for the first time and had no clue, hints or maps whatsoever. After some tries I survived the first few attacks and started to discover the dungeon and managed to land first in the "surrender your posession"-trap and soon afterwards at 27,30,9 (Global Offset), where the walls open in front of you when you turn and a worm generator is started when you move.

I had a nearly naked party with pretty mediocre stats and levels (at least for CSB) and started fighting the worms with only one dagger and the flask found on this field for healing. For reasons unknown today I could not figure the way out (taking a step backwards) and fought the worms for three hours, soometimes lives hanging on a very thin thread, until I had raised my levels significantly and by chance found my way out.

I was close to hitting my head against the next wall after I discovered that all it took to see more sometimes was a step back... ;)

Levels 4 and 12 absolutely ticked me off! :x I HATE pink worms with a vengance because I could never remember the VI BRO spell and my party always used to die from poisoning.

I used to play DM when I was younger, very naive I was as all I used to to kill monsters were fireballs, and so both Stone Golems and Knights used to present a problem. Now I'm older and wiser and now see the error of my ways  .

No "error of ways"... I cannot recall how often one or all of my party members died. But that's part of the fun and even more of the suspense I guess.
