Re: Advancing technology vs the eternal Nostalgic
That's a good point, cow, but the speed still adds a lot to replayability. I completed lots of RPGs once or maybe twice to chose a different path, but i did't complete any RPG (nearly) as often as DM.

Re: Advancing technology vs the eternal Nostalgic
It's not about Nostalgia for me - DM simply has fast paced gameplay which very few even modern games can beat. The direct, simple and intuitive interface is timeless good and the step-based movement is simply faster then everything else. Since travelling is the most boring part of a RPG (and I get b...

Re: another D&D-battle
@Sucinum: Not strictly true if you want to be pedantic about it :D. TSR doesn't exist as a brand so technically no-one "owns" it anymore. It's simply been absorbed ;) Basically the same happened to Atari which was absorbed by Infogrames. With the small difference, that the label (of a com...

Re: another D&D-battle
Having Infogrames (they bought the Atari label) as middleman never served any good purpose anyways. They block progress, fail to market games and generally ruin games. Every sequel or add-on to Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights you miss is due to Infogrames. Last thing they blocked are the premium...

Re: Englanders seem very bookish sometimes
And that's the reason why i find "englanders" very.. you know... they always love using words like "nevertheless", "therefore", "indeed" and so on as a pause in their sentence... ;) I find myself using those fillwords quite often. I don't even do this by purp...

Re: Society better or worse than 20 or 30 years ago?
I don't believe in "everything used to be better". People always struggled and had problems. We might look back and think "i wish i had such easy problems", but out view is distorted because we have the solution to those problems now . The only modern phenomenom I can relate to i...

Re: Worst 'single hero' pick in a game of DM
I didn't quote my old stuff correctly. Actually it's like that: Wisdom regs Mana -> Manareg drains Stamina <-> Vit regs Stamina <- Staminareg drains Food A higher Stamina helps. I don't know how you have to weight each of the values, so everything is a big vague. But from what I can make up: Boris s...

Re: Worst 'single hero' pick in a game of DM
Tried Alex - bad stamina drain! There must be some hidden reason why this is. Had more vitality than Chani or Boris, but ate faster and lost stamina quicker. I solved this mystery years ago actually. The simple fact is that mana regeneration drains stamina (and food), so a high wisdom is actually b...

Funny enough, i have seen a mate having Lor and Kazai in his party - was ages ago and the Amiga version. Don't know how he did it, though. I never used any of both anyways, so... In almost every CSB game I chose Itza and Petal.

Re: Worst 'single hero' pick in a game of DM
I once made a table where i weighted all attributes and stuff differently. I neither know exact results nor even the exact formula to weight stuff, but i the importance of stuff was like this: Wisdom, Vitality, Strenght > Dexterity, HP/2 > Mana > Antimagic/Fire. Among the best chars were: Azizi, Haw...

Re: Worst 'single hero' pick in a game of DM
You can still warcry the 1st screamer a few minutes - that will gain you enough SP to cast some light here and there. You will be a proper spellcaster on the run more or less.
Tiggy and Gando should be the worst, yes - low HP, Stamina and also Vitality.

So wisdom is much more important, as five extra points of wisdom are like gaining five levels! :D Now I even know why i always...
