why there is GOR rune?
Hey, can anybody say why there is GOR rune? It's in DM I and DM II too.
I would not ask, but it appears to me that this one rune has not assignment in any spell.

In the very first version of Dungeon Master that was released on Amiga, the Gor rune was used to make FulBombs.
It went MON FUL GOR (RA or SAR, don't remember), and an empty flask in hand. You couldn't use any power rune other than MON, and your wizard had to be very high level for any chance for it to suceed.

gor and conduit
Gor rune (rotated z)
And also there is Conduit. Again not used in dm1, but I guess it is used in dm2 as Spiral Staff.
In dm1 there are a few items, inaccessible in normal gameplay.
Conduit, Branch, Zo potion...

Don't forget the dragon spit, which probably had the intentions of shooting very very very powerful fireballs, yet ended up being a crappy item with no use at all!
(more info in this old post)
Theres quite a few features hidden in DM/CSB that we uncovered with CSB4Win. You can always dig in the source and find something neat.

If I could find my disk, I would set up my old Amiga, and play through Dungeon Master again, and try to make a FulBomb again. All I can say is that I have created a FulBomb before with the very first release of DM on the Amiga.
Even though they could be made, they were bloody hard to make requiring a wizard of one of the master levels, and you had to sacrifice a flask to do it. I only stumbled on making one when I spent a week trying to find a use for the GOR rune, and that was years ago.
I found Ven Potions more effective than FulBombs anyways. I killed the red dragon with 4 Ven Potions, and 4 Magic Boxes, without the dragon being able to attack once.

aehm,
eh, I guess again and again the very best way on DM I, II is to change KICK to FIREBALL
I am insane, isn't I? And then, some mana cheats
and perhaps character training. Thats all i need from dm.
Funny to sending minions after Dragoth. He seems pretty upset with that and about that so, he screams he's war cry after swings. He cryies when he's hit with minion too.
Never ever played any clone of them all. But always I wanted to try master of chaos from genuvax (genuwax?). Its game for 2 players. Imagine how wonderful and funny it might be in DM II !! Two players vs Dragoth!!
Real fun, wouldn't it be?

Window was used in CSB. I think Hack was used somewhere too...Yes spit. Also hack and window. Several attacks and items never used.
From current clones... I know CSBWin has reintroduced the 'lost items'... But putting Spit back into Dragon Spit requires using AGDEHmm, it's to long ago that I've been playing the clones, so I don't remember anymore: Does any of the current clones reintegrate these lost properties?
Well as for my 'clone' the properties will be reintroduced... I still need to figure out what the 'unimplemented' potions were for.
Yeah Suule, right. But again GOR is in DM II too. Why? There must be something i wanted to say, but i cant remember what it could be...
Yes! Now its clean to me. I guess clones are not good. At last in compare to originals. For instance in CSB you may modify dungeons, actions, items in native. But for DM I & II you need cheats / hex editing.
So for originals there is more fun

Nurse, scalpel please...
I think they kept it to be consistent. The nature of Magic wouldn't have changed between the two games as they're set in the same "reality" so just as new spells were discovered/invented to make the Minion creatures, you could imagine that a use for the GOR rune just hasn't been discovered yet, even though theoretically it would be used to make "dangerous potions".Jano 663 wrote:Yeah Suule, right. Perhaps they were going to be used in the creation of those "unused" potions, that were never implimented in either version of Dungeon Master.
