Avatars!!

Post by cowsmanaut »

Avatars have now been made available. Maximum of 80x80.

I will be uloading some in the near future for people to choose from as well. The heros and chaos.. perhaps some monsters. I'll just use some of the images I already have and shrink/crop them to fit this weekend.

cheers!

Strong & Silent

Post by PicturesInTheDark »

How can the "strong & silent" message be edited/deleted (comes below the picture of the avatar) - I did not find any possibility to do that when editing the profile ?!

It's based on how many posts you've made, and can only be changed by administrators. Post more messages to get a new title!

yeah, I changed the titles of the board admins.. if you guys want a new title let me know.. I was just amusing myself.

Strong & silent is up to 50 posts I think then it's gab master or something.. eventually around 300 posts you get to native forum dweller and then 600 is ancient one.

However if that's not something you care about I can give you a new title. We only have 19 users so it's not a far cry to give you a new "rank" which is what they call it.. it does nothing to your abilities .. it just a social status thing.

moo

edit.. also.. If anyone has some ideas for new avatars.. let me know.

Hmm sounds better than "strong and silent" in any case, but it's still just a nice way of saying "You're too damn quiet, now go and post something"

Aw...it took so many postings to get a decent ranking at the ezboard forum, now you are reset to zero. Can't we take over the ranking from the old fora?

just think of it as a challenge.. it's not all that bad. Besides most of the people here know eachther from before.. we are well aware that you've had plenty to say in that past. :)

Cowsmanaut: You don't happen to have a nice Linflas pic to be used as an Avatar? (Besides I will never get used to the word for "Divine Incarnation" being used for a computer profile...)

Nice and easy as finding the avatars is at the moment - maybe you ought to consider a separate (download/link) page for them once the threads get bigger ...

yeah, I'll dump them all into a folder on the server and allow direct access to them from the user profile. PHPBB has that ability.. I just have not gotten to it yet.

That's funny, K5! I hav been using the original DM/CSB character pictrures as buddy icons in AIM/TP/Y! for monthes now, and I made Alex picture your buddy icon without actually knowing that he is your favourite...

Can you change them? How about levels, ranging from neophyte to Archmaster?

Hmm I like the Neophyte to Archmaster actually. That would be ten levels (merging the different Master levels to one). Don't know what you think about that - I would say 10 to 50 for one would be o.k. - if it were more than 10 then the 50 would decrease. Imagine how long it takes for 500 posts even if you contribute regularly ;)

I would like to have the DM levels as titles and retain all Master-levels, with the exeption of Archmaster being equivalent to Admin, and advancement should be based upon the experience progression of DM so the initial levels will be easily attained, while the highest levels are almost impossible to reach:

0 Posts: Neophyte
1 Post: Novice
2 Posts: Apprentice
4 Posts: Journeyman
8 Posts: Craftsman
16 Posts: Artisan
32 Posts: Adept
64 Posts: Expert
128 Posts: Lo Master
256 Posts: Um Master
512 Posts: On Master
1024 Posts: Ee Master
2048 Posts: Pal Master
4096 Mon Master
8192 Posts or Admin: Archmaster

That would be "DM-like"!

You're one out -- Neophyte would be 1 post, plus I think this is taking things a bit far.... ;-) The principle is nice, but lower figures would make more sense, so simply doubling each time is out of the question! ;)

I agree with Gambit - this is not a game and might lead to "useless" posts for increasing levels. That should not really be the point of the forum, but to post when needed and no more.

Personally, I feel 500 posts are a high enough figure for master or archmaster or whatever - that should show you're interested enough in this forum ;)
