The Legend of Lara...

Post by Gambit37 »

Even though the last couple of Tomb Raider games were rubbish, I'm still quite a fan and got quite excited when I discovered this:

I really liked the first game back in the days, was let down by the second and gave up on the 3rd... Good news the original creator is back to work on his baby (didn't know he had left right after the release of the first episode, which probably explains how "not so good" the others were). Better start playing HL2 before this one arrives then, choppy chop !

Yeah, Core Design lost the plot when it came to the later games and fell onto the 'sex up our iconic game character' bandwagon and basically pimped Lara out to the highest bidder. Movies? What rot. They forgot what made the first couple of games great, and even though the most recent one a couple of years back was supposed to be darker and more like the earlier games in terms of playability, it utterly stank due to lousy controls and moronic 'features'.

Let's hope this new one is better. Still, not quite sure what they've done with the newly designed Lara. She seems to have lost her edge and now looks like any other softporn-digi-babe. Look at that waist and those legs! As if an adventurer would be wearing that kind of outfit... *twirls finger*

Good news! Like Florent, I loved the first game when it came out (it was the second game I played on my PSX). I still enjoyed the second one, was frustrated and a little bored with the third one, but still played the fourth one - and after not finishing it because if boredom, I realized the series desperately needed something new. My girlfriend picked up the last one for 10 €, and though I liked that there was something new, the controls were indeed horrible. Let's hope for the best! Thanks for the info Gambit! :)

Never really liked the perspective, but have to admit the puzzles and the game itself are pretty good. If they ever make a doom/quake like Tomb Raider im in for the fun :D
