Yup, that's it. When I was making portraits with the CSB editor, I relished the challenge of using the limited number and range of colours provided to get the desired effect.

Is there a utility that mimics the portrait editor in the original CSB utility disk? I know you can edit portraits in MSPaint and similar programs, but a "port" of that portrait painter would be good for keeping to the correct palette, and... well, I just enjoyed using the old editor. If there isn't ...

Having all, or as much as possible of "The DM Legacy" in one place would be pretty neat, so you can count me as an "aye"!

I think the only difference is that the "face" on mine appears to have pupils to its eyes, when compared to the scan at the Encyclopedia - oh, and its a good deal less shiny. I did try to get some pics comparing it in size to "real" coins, but they didn't come out too well. I may give that another ...

A very good Sci-Fi dungeon(s) is Captive.

Captive had those handy power sockets all over the place, of course, which earlier mention of recharging weapons had me thinking about.

Xenomorph drove me crazy, to be quite honest, running out of ammo, food... must've been doing something wrong, I guess ...

Finished!

Verdict: a very nice little dungeon! Good work overall, with a generous difficulty curve. Highly recommended!

Got "Hall Of Flame", then ploughed ahead until the blue haze area, where I had to take some time to mark my progress. In the end, I had ZO KATH RAs marking the "dead ends", and Screamer slices marking the clear squares. At present, I have tons of food, as I pay frequent visits to the start level ...

I'm no metallurgist, so I can't say what it's made of, but (from memory) the Gor Coin is about the same size as a US quarter or a UK 10p piece, and is just a little bit lighter than those coins.

I wasn't expecting the rust monsters to ACTUALLY do their rust attack, so that's a definite tick in the "Plus" column. Haven't quite worked out the "Hall of Flame" yet, but I'll get there eventually (I hope).

So far, I'm enjoying it. Good work!

I was delighted to get one in my copy of ST CSB, and I still have it to this very day. It's like having a real piece of the DM universe...

As far as box condition is concerned, the packaging was pretty flimsy, so you may struggle to get a good-looking copy.

It does look as though you're supposed to get past those pits, as there are coins on the other side, and there are several boulders in the cave below. It was quite some time - two PCs ago - since I first (and last) played DM2, and there's every chance that I never managed to get that puzzle solved ...

These are BIG rocks you push and pull around in a cave UNDER the pits. This is in the wolf area with all the mud patches, and there's a ladder down into the cave, where there are FUL BRO KU Strength potions that make moving the boulders possible.

Using the RTC editor to view the maps, the ladder is ...

My laptop has a Function key that switches some of the alphabetic keys to a simulated keypad, but if you're focussing on the screen, it's not easy to keep your fingers on the right keys - hence the value of an external keypad. I don't have one yet, but it's on the "good idea to buy" list anyway!

In Dungeon Master 2, the pit puzzle in the wolf-infested area outside Skullkeep doesn't appear to work properly. You can move a rock under a pit to try and get at the stuff on the other side of the pit, but you just fall through, into the square occupied by the rock - step off that square and look ...

Additional - you do know that games like these are the reason why external USB keypads were invented...

Just installed the newest RTC on my laptop - holy cr@p, this has DMII included now! I'd played an earlier version, and I'd been delighted then just to be able to play DM and CSB again.

Rat room in DM - heaven. A perfect base of operations!

Answer to most of the problems in Morrowind - Infinite Levitation Ring . Hover out of melee range and nuke the enemy from orbit!!!

Morrowind - I remember it well. It gave me RSI. Great game - especially when you get into the main quest, and get the giant mushroom house with the mechanical guards ...

It's a shame that so many of the other games of DM's ilk insisted on forcing you to have four characters - in Black Crypt, I think it was essential, as you had to use all the four uber-weapons to defeat the Big Bad. It didn't take me long to switch to one-character games, and I usually pick the ...

Panic! Flee! Run into one of those other monsters on the level! Get "back-stabbed" by the Medusa... game over. Yes, I remember that well.

I remember playing up to the point where all my robots had absolutely the best armour and weapons, but I still hated those "jet-pack dragons" that dropped mines, and the faceless samurai guys. I think I had so much gold that I ended up detonating mines with full bags of cash...

Ah, there's another for my "played and beaten" list...

Yeah, the graphics weren't so great after DM, or EOB, but it was still fun to play - and map. I particularly enjoyed the insults: "Thou smells warty", and so on.

I think I may have two copies of that game - it was in two different compilations, one of which I got in New York in 1998 (Forgotten Realms Archives), and one other that contained the game Stronghold and Unlimited Adventures. I wouldn't mind getting Dungeon Hack up and running on my laptop, if at ...
