I guess some disagree.
It's when the remake tries to do too many changes that I have issues, but if they limit it to some updated graphics and a few simple QOL improvements that don't drastically change the gameplay I wouldn't mind a remake.

Re: Does anyone use lightning bolts?
Is that first damage what spell shield cast from items protects you from? I never figured out what it did, since it didn't seem to help against poison bolts or poison clouds, and fireshield seemed to reduce the damage from fireballs and lightning bolts cast by enemies.

Re: This Game Needs a Remake Badly
On the Apple IIGS version for stupid reasons you can only have one save per 3.5" diskette even though with how quickly the game loads the same there is no way it is using up the entire disk. Photonix II takes considerably longer to read a 3.5" disk and when it was released people were amazed because ...

Re: Best ways/places to gain experience at various stages?
I recall one time I played the dragon was no where in sight and I proceeded to the area with the power gem, only to get hit in the back with a big fireball while examining the power gem as I didn't have any fireshields up.
Good thing there's an Alter of Vi in that same area.

I didn't know you could kill the golems or armor at all with fireballs. For the longest time I thought they were immune to magic the way mummies are immune to poison.

Yeah - freezing the Dragon and then spamming it with Poison Clouds is just cruel.....

Instead I freeze him and then tribute to him a couple poison bombs I picked up earlier along with all the FUL Bombs I have left. When the green ...

Of the five offensive spells, it seems odd that one of them seems like just an inferior copy with no advantages over casting Fireball. It always seems like an inferior copy.

I'm surprised so few people use poison bolt. I myself never found much use for lightning bolt or poison cloud except in certain situations.

Technically yes. Tactically it is not the best strategy.

I'm assuming you mean YA BRO and YA IR? I didn't realize they stacked, I thought they were the same thing only the potion was ST with a longer duration and the spell was party-wide.

Unless you split them by killing one or more of the creatures in the group. A fireball can turn a group of four trollins into a single trollin.

You can't get a fully equipped team until the game is practically over, as the last one is when you choose which door/treasure to acquire on level 7 before retrieving the Firestaff. After that you just have to get the power gem and fuse Lord Chaos.

You might want to check out the hint book at dmweb.free.fr. While the guide has a couple errors in it, the only solution I know of being wrong is the one for the pit maze and I think one button (can't recall which) is one square off on the map. I penciled in a solution in my copy, but it's in ...

To be fair, in the 20th century researching such things was much harder than it is in this internet age. While the article seems to have been written in 1995 or 1996, the internet was still in its childhood (I won't say infancy because the WWW was established by that point. I'd even say it was ...

That sounds odd that the more complex spells give less XP than the light spell, did you do your testing in the same place? IIRC the deeper in the dungeon you are, the more XP you get.

I think some doors can be destroyed, while others can't. You can also hack/bash your way through some doors as well. I'm not sure if some doors can only be meléed while others can only be Fireballed, but certainly plenty of doors are just completely indestructible (especially if they need a very ...

For the armor, the lizard in question is probably strong enough to use the heavy stuff, but for all but the the strongest (in terms of raw strength) champions you want to use the medium or light armor. Halk, Stamn, Daroou, Hissssa, and Sonja are the ones you probably want to wear heavy armor. The ...

I've posted elsewhere that poison is particularly effective on trollins and gigglers, and wasps are weak to poison clouds. You can kill any wasp with an ON level poison cloud. Most wasps on level 6 can be killed with LO level clouds.

I didn't even notice that they got more powerful, but the game is really bad about giving feedback on numbers. The only thing that actually gave you numbers were weapon attacks (including punches and kicks), everything else was more or less hidden from the player.
