Re: Iris?

Could be - if you Reincarnate characters (as opposed to Resurrect), you can rename them. Maybe you saw a screenshot of someone's gameplay where they'd renamed their characters that way.

Re: Site is very slow recently

I was gonna post something about this yesterday but I forgot - yeah the site has been very slow these last few days, take ages to load pages. And on a couple of occasions it had logged me out so I had to log back in. I did notice that the "Most number of users online at once" stat thingy at the ...

Waiting? You can just pop in every now and then and see if there's a new post or something if you're not just perma-logged in at your computer or whatever. The DM Discord is really quiet anyway. We do sometimes get new people hopping in having not bothered to read the description and assume it's a ...

Hiya, welcome to the forum :D. We also have a Discord server although it's pretty quiet. There's probably a link floating around somewhere or I can make a new one if you're interested.

Oh, is it that guy who's really into hand-related jewellery? Yeah I heard he was pretty effective at governance and at ensuring his underlings never have to worry about being cold in the workplace.

Re: DM2 Merchants don't accept trade-ins?

Yes, you absolutely used to be able to sell axes - I'd use ranged attacks to kill a shitload of axe giants from the entrance to their area, then use the Porter Minion map to get said minion to pick up all the axes and take them to the shop to sell (and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one) :D.
So ...

Re: 12 years later...

Oh yeah, Conflux is one of the big ones - that was made by Zyx (with some help here and there from a few others - I know I wrote all the hints for the int Oracle, at least). New characters, new spells, new loads of stuff. I seem to remember getting poisoned by just about every monster I came across ...

Yeah, I can't remember the guy's username now but the posts are all still around here somewhere, in whichever area of the forum they were made (Creative Endeavours, possibly). A bunch of us did then get the game when it came out - I didn't actually finish it or play the second one, though.

Ooh your son has good taste - Borderlands is great...well, the second one is fantastic. The Pre-Sequel wasn't as good and I've not played the other two. Glad to hear he's enjoying DM/CSB as well. If I'm replaying the games I use CSBWin (since it is a port of the actual Atari version that I used to ...

Re: Doom?!

Yeah I'm pretty sure that Dungeon Master was possibly the first of its kind to have that kind of proper first-person immersive thing going on, rather than running through a text-based interface with just static pictures to show what was going on. So that does indeed basically make it the ancestor of ...

If you want custom dungeons, there should be a load if you scroll down to the "Community Creations" section of the forum and check out the "Custom Dungeons" section from there. A bunch of people made various dungeons over the years - Conflux has been mentioned, that's one of the big ones.

HI :). I only understood a bit of that, because I don't really know a lot of French, but erm, well done for completing DM2, I think? Or well done on finishing DM/CSB and good luck with DM2? I'd say it's easier than CSB and actually rather short if you don't spend time faffing around with selling a ...

Re: How are the different spell symbols located and installed?

Yeah the adventurers are all asleep in cryo-machine things (the equivalent of the DM/CSB portraits) in the small cave system where you start off - just up the ladder from there is the "base" room, with the table, the VI altar, the door to the outside area with the glops, etc. You start with one of ...

Re: How are the different spell symbols located and installed?

Yeah the original DM2 doesn't have the spellbook, that's definitely some kind of alternative version. All the runes should be available from the start just like in DM/CSB.

Re: How are the different spell symbols located and installed?

I've never used the spellbook version - for DM1 I played it a bit before switching to "non-spellbook" and later switching to CSBWin anyway, and for DM2 I still have the original disk so can play that using DOSBox :D.

Oh, I missed which forum this was posted in and thought you were talking about the original DM, whoops :D. There might be a Ra key somewhere in DM2 but I can't remember. Might be the "Sun key" that's used on one of the doors/gates in the outside areas.

Welcome to the forum, but as Paru says, this is primarily for a different kind of Dungeon Master, that being a grid-based, first-person, dungeon-crawling game released on Atari and Amiga in 1987. Every now and then we get a new member who didn't read the description and ...

Re: How are the different spell symbols located and installed?

Yeah I'm guessing you're playing RTC in "RTC Mode" or whatever it's called, so you get a spellbook at the start and have to inscribe the runes in there from scrolls as you find them (I think?). So the one for Fireball is all the way down on Level Seven, I seem to recall, in the one bit of short ...

By walking around the pillar on a fake pit from Ros ...

Re: Reincarnated Tiggy straight into CSB

Okay, so (going by memory as I've not done it in some years now) what you need to do is when you're at the CSB entrance doors, instead of clicking to enter the Prison, you click on the scroll down in the corner. This will give you several options, one of which is to import a party/saved game (one of ...

I always thought the compass pointed the wrong way too, because it points east when you're facing west, and vice-versa...until someone somewhere on the forum pointed out that compasses don't point east or west, they point north. So the compass pointing leftwards when you're facing east makes sense ...

Re: Suggested Improvements for this Awesome Game

I dunno, the lack of info on some stuff is kind of what adds to the mystery. It also gives people stuff to try and work out if they are so inclined, as clearly plenty of people are as you can see from the various in-depth conversations in this very forum where people have tried to work out exact ...
