Actually, Chani is my most favourite character for solo runs. I wanted to suggest her, but I couldn't remember her name... "Sophia" was still coming on my mind...
Finally playing and immensely enjoying the awesome Thimbleweed Park-a-reno!

Quite suprised at Chani too! Didn't seem to level up as quick as Boris to start, but once got in her stride I played quicker. Again, hit suprisingly hard with the swords and the fast mana regen was a bonus. Forget to press record, doh!

Going to try Wuuf...

What I am doing is gathering info as I have a new plan for a faster speed record ;-)

Tried Alex - bad stamina drain! There must be some hidden reason why this is. Had more vitality than Chani or Boris, but ate faster and lost stamina quicker.

It's because Boris and Chani are awesome, just like Sophia and me! :D

Report on Gando:

Positive! Fair stamina drain, and didn't seem as good with the sword, but the mana and wisdom came in handy later in the game. 58 minutes.

Better than Boris for solo runs I would say.

Ooops... But I'm really looking forward to watching this video. I hope you find another secret and new approach to DM, like that "getting the master key from behind" in the "minimum picking competition". :D

I don't have any idea what MW meant.

Whew! Those beers must have been 'tall boy' beers. (long neck might be a more familiar term).

P.S. I'll try to at least 'sound' serious. The comments were meant as puns, to suggest this thread went the way of the Dodo bird.

In other words, it's a CSB thread, since it 'took over' the DM thread it started out to be.
And it's not even in the CSB section.

On the other hand, I really don't mind what it's become. I've enjoyed it about as much as any of the latest threads.

Hmmm. I may have to join one of the members in starting a SNOOKER thread.
(YIPES! I'd better explain that the last sentence is an 'inside' joke meant for PaulH.)

I suppose if I were to clear the dungeon out, my choice of characters would be different as different skills are needed. Stamm is just tailored for the 'dodge it, run around, and if cornered, hack it to death' tactic that I employ.

I solved this mystery years ago actually. The simple fact is that mana regeneration drains stamina (and food), so a high wisdom is actually bad for your stamina. This is usually no problem, unless wisdom is far higher than vitaly. Also depends a lot on the playstyle.
Resting helps usually, but it might occur that a trained spellcaster without too much fighter/ninja and so very low vitaly loses stamina during rest because the mana regeneration burns more stamina than the sleeping heals. But since mana regenerations only every few seconds, you can regain the stamina. This makes the stamina bar bounce.
Also it makes a large difference if you have a full manabar, because then you won't burn stamina to regenerate mana. But you waste the mana reg and so caster experience, so better cast Ya potions then leaving your mana bar full.

You'd expect Boris to be worse than Alex then?

I didn't quote my old stuff correctly. Actually it's like that: Wisdom regs Mana -> Manareg drains Stamina <-> Vit regs Stamina <- Staminareg drains Food
A higher Stamina helps.

I don't know how you have to weight each of the values, so everything is a big vague. But from what I can make up:
Boris should be slightly worse than Alex (bit higher Stamina, lot higher Wis), but still be okayish.
Gothmog should be really bad (low Sta, high Wis, low Vit), Tiggy even worse. Wu Tse, Linflas, Elija and Gando should also suffer quite a bit from bad "constitution".

The least problems you will have with the fighter types. The best hybrid with a good constitution should be Azizi. Since Azizi has the lowest Anti-Magic/Fire and the highest sum of other stats, she should actually be the best char altogether.

Note that this is around the base stats. If you do early caster practise, you can make the problem worse. If you rather start with 1-2 ninja/fighter-levels, this will get better.

Just reincarnate a character in CSB. That's the worst pick.

I did. I threw a reincarnated Tiggy into CSB. In RTC. It's not easy, but I managed to do half of KU and am doing fine now. The beginning was by far the hardest part. Too bad I've lost interest meanwhile... Eventually, I will finish it and display Tiggy's stats at the end.
