Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Since everyone's sorta independant just now, I'll update for everyone else and can update for Ameena's sniffing separately. Ameena's perception roll will get updated for, since it is a slow burning realisation.
Money, I'll update as if Haynuus is loking at the central tomb, but if you need him then I can change the update!

Happy to go with that - if there is something exciting that i need help with then happy for Hayuus to assist

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Just made an IC post (loooong one again I think
). Ameena's having her own nose around. I must remember to have her ask someone wtf it was they actually fought. She probably won't ask Westian, because he might get all riled up again (talking about evil unholy udead, the spawn of all that is evil and nasty and evil and evil, and must feel the mighty smiting wrath of mighty smiting clerics and gods and stuff, blah blah
). Someone else can dig out that breastplate if they want it, now Ameena's pointed it out. She might start bugging them with questions about tombs and stuff in general, if she thinks they won't bite her head off for wondering about stuff like that. She still doesn't know them very well, but she is aware that a lot of people seem to think quite highly of people who are dead, so someone who doesn't understand why the dead are entombed might be seen as disrespectful or something. I dunno. it's just what she's picked up from beign around other people in the past.

Lol, aww, Westian's got a reputation for a zealot from one small outburst! He did run away from the mummy right after too
Ameena, a take 20 check for all that stuff will take some time, but should be doable depending on how long everyone else spends checking out their stuff.
As with everyone else, can you give me an order of preference so I know roughly where you are if anything of consequence interrupts? Will you do one aspect at a time (tombs then floor) or will you do an area at a time? And will you go in a circle, or will you criss-cross from one side of the hall to the other?
Right, time for work. Can't wait for lunch
So hungry
Plus I can read your long post properly Ameena!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Oh yeah...well, since she ran over to the tomb she's explored before (the one with the breastplate), she'll work her way along the wall from there (heading south, away from the stairs), sniffing at the walls and floor as she goes, and exploring each sarcophagus/set of doors as she comes to it, until she reaches the rubble in the northwest corner. She'll sniff around that too, of course. Then she'll probably sniff around the rest of the floor, but I think it'll take long enough for her to get the rest done that something else will have happened by then
.
Incidentally, since all she's doing is closely exploring things and there's no creatures about to leap out at her or whatever (or so we hope), I would think that leaving the torchlight won't matter with regards to finding things. Her whiskers are tons more sensitive than the fingertips of other species, so she can tell the physical shape and texture of something just by putting her face near it. About the only thing she won't be able to tell in the dark is the colour of an object.
If anyone speaks to her, I'll have her reply as she sniffs.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
I rolled an 18 for knowledge (religion). I think my RP for Westian is transferred over to dice rolls – I said he was a good talker and well-read, but not experienced in combat. All talky/thinky rolls were great, most punchy ones were not!
I will pick a domain soon. You mentioned feats, how do you know when a character gets a new feat? I checked the cleric description before I levelled up but could not find anything about it.
Yes, poor Westian. You lose the plot over one mummy and everyone thinks you are a zealot (not saying that he is not!
). Wait until he sees Falkor cast a spell and he burns him as a witch!

Ah, a feat is outside your class, juts like ability score gain.
No matter the class, no matter if you multiclass, every third character level you gain a general feat
Every four character levels, you will also gain one point to the ability score of your choice.
Edit: There are still some ten foot poles, fire, rope, and Haynuus is currently free to be controlled if you need to burn anyone

Yes, a do-it-yourself witch-burning kit if ever I saw one. Almost as if you want us to burn each other....
Nice work on the domains by the way, I like the links to the runes. I will go for the healing domain this time.
For feats I could not decide between combat casting or magical aptitude. I think I will go for combat casting, I can imagine times in the future when I will have to pour a vi potion down someone's throat while being attacked by a group of deth knights.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Me, want you lot to burn each other? Too boring, Falkor burning is funny, but there's blades and boiling oil and everything yet to use on each other!
If it makes your feat decision any easier, combat casting needs an intelligence of 13 so magical apptitude it is! Though combat casting would be useful if you use your 4th level attribute point on intelligence... so many choices!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
That does make it easier. Magical aptitude. Will update character sheet. And I will worry about the attribute point when it comes...if we are alive that long.
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
I dumped the spellcraft skill, so what you get is a bonus on appraise checks for identifying magical items, and also checks on actually using the items if required - +2 in both cases!
Right, when I get home I'm do a minor update for Ameena's action on the IC thread, and Westian's knowledge check result and the short sword stats can all be OOC or minor references.
I think the narrative is really awaiting whether Westian opens the door he is at, or does something else. If the door remains closed for now, then it sounds liek the hall will get a thorough search uninterrupted!

Ah, sorry, did not realise you were waiting on me. Not going to touch that door until we all are ready! I will move on and start examining the tombs that have not been touched yet, starting with the one nearest the door.
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
No problem, just yours was a decision point for exapnding the search, so people might have wished to change their actions.
Hmm, I think I can update again later to say roughly what will happen in exploring the hall as a whole. You'll be free to ret-con reactions and speech in response to any part. That will lead neatly into Ian being back, and then you can figure out how you will proceed onwards!
I will put up a small map to show where people have already explored. The question is, will people explore where others have been to conduct their own search, or will they
Already, it sounds like Westian was going to check out the sarcophigi Falkor had checked during the combat with the mummy, wasn't sure if this was deliberate or a result of me not putting up a helpful map like I will put up just now!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
No, I did not want to re-search! The nearest non-examined one....bottom right corner!
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
I would like to examine the central tomb that Haynuus was investigating now...
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Can do!
The way I see it, that means Westian would hit the corner tomb, while Falkor would check the central tomb, and then all three characters would reach the last tomb at the same time. Do you two want to do that, or would you two want to go check/do something else and leave Ameena to reach the third tomb on her own? Or would Haynuus be directed to check that tomb by one of you?
Ameena, will you be continuing checking out the floor and tombs that other people have checked?

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Oops, I'm being stupid, there's one more tomb to check. So basically Ameena would reach her third tomb by the time the others reached it too.
In the meantime, which one of you will examine the second tomb from the bottom on the right wall?

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Since most of Ameena's senses are about a zillion times better than anyone else's, there are things that she's likely to spot which the others may miss (meaning generally - I'm not specifically referring to this room). She'll probably still want to at least check the other sarcophagi, ven if no-one else turned up anything. And don't forget she's mentioned finding that armour now - someone else might want to go check it out.

Lol, don't get too cocky now! Westian and Haynuus have better sight that Ameena, and Westian and Falkor have more ability to call upon external knowledge to recognise what they are checking
A brick that's a switch, unless someone's been pushing around it, will not smell any different to any other brick. That's where Ameena's sneaky experience that would spot that, not necessarily her senses!
Actually, the same goes to everyone - though not necessarily in this situation. Sometimes one person's perception of an area due to senses or knowledge, might yield different results. Don't be afriad of cross-checking, though I'll usually try to summarise such events.
Anyway, I assumed Ameena would keep checking and double checking. Once I know where Haynuus, Westian and Falkor will end up (and if they'll wait for Ameena to finish or do things in parallel) I can probably summarise the rest of the findings.

LOLzers, just found this -> Run as a feat. I can run into combat in just one round right? Could be funny if we added Bull Rush to it.
Blimey, Self Sufficient seems in character too.
Ohh, hp roll: HP for lvl 3 (1d10=1) Woot!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Oh, that's what I meant to say. Min fighter hp is now 8, not 7. Reason - everyone else's minimum score is the maximum score of the prevous class, so seemed logical
And yes, some of those feats are fun. It's a wacky wide world of feats there! remember as a fighter you get tons of combat ones along the way, it's the generic non-combatty ones you get the same as other mere mortals!

OK, so I'll add 8hp (and recover 1hp from Falkor &/or Westian's effort), and gain the Self Sufficient feat if only to add to his tough-guy persona.
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
I'll be sure to drop some caltrops and let him manfully pull them out on his own

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Ok, so Ameena's actions are sorta set unless someone persuades her to stop, or something interrupts her.
Everyone else seems to have run out of action. I'll split the covering activities needed into three parts, since they are the three logical places something could happen to interrupt Ameena:
- 1) What's everyone going to be doing while Ameena is working her way along the floor and wall with the three tombs (@10 minutes work)
- 2) What's everyone going to do while Ameena is working her way along the other two walls (@20-30 minutes work)
- 3) what's everyone going to be doing whuile Ameena is checking the centre of the hall (@10 minutes work)
Possible things to do:
- Check out last tomb Ameena is about to get to
- Check out the torch sconces or other features of the walls
- Check out the rubbled passageway (Ameena won't get to it until the end of the second step)
- Check out the items more thoroughly
- Check out the openable door and open it
- Check out the closed door again and try to open it
- Discuss stuff
- Accompany Ameena and chat to her directly
- Other stuff you could come up with!
- Wait
Obviously Haynuus's first action is trying on the breastplate!

Ah ha!.. Just you wait there Mr DM fella. I wreckon Westian get's the breastplate and flachion, and Haynuus the small shield.
What do you think OB?
1) Haynuus can sift through the paper/linen cloth on the floor.
2) Haynuus can try to pull out the rubble in the passageway.
3) Haynuus can bodyguard anyone attempting to open a door.
Don't forget the tiara thingy to that goes on your head. Give it to Falkor, me thinks. If he turns green and explodes in a shower of puss we won't know if it's the shiney cloak or his new head-gear!

Hhmmm, I was going to say Haynuus should take the breastplate. He will always be in the thick of the action I would imagine, Westian will be upfront for a lot of the time but sometimes he will be casting spells (whenever he gets enough runes). Happy to take the falchon, and for Haynuus to have the shield and club combo.
Don't know if the tiara thing will fit Falkor, unless he uses it as a necklace. Haynuus is welcome to put the tiara on, but we will constantly ridicule him, and spread the word to the rest of the Bhut-Ock clan.
Westian will (i) examine any items that have been found and (ii) examine the fixtures and fittings of the room and all writing on tombs (assuming there is time). Will post IC soon.

Looks like Ameena and Haynuus have got into some kind of spiritual discussion. Yes, never mind the intellectual casters, leave the in-depth conversations to the fuzzle and the great big hulking half-orc
.
Yes, Ameena is still sniffing around as she talks, so this won't interrupt her search much. If she's gonna be finding anything, lemme know what it is, Wuffy, and I can work it into a post as she gets to it. I'm guessing she's still only partway along the eastern wall so far.
Haynuus did neglect to answer her question about what it was they just fought, but I suppose answering two questions might be a bit much for his poor half-orcish brain
. Never mind, she'll find out eventually from someone.

Haynuus is aware of the undead, but at his 14 years of age he's never seen a mummy (until now!), zombie, or b-movie.
OK, all the armour for Haynuus then. He shall pay for your kindness with his blood and stand in front!
