Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Can't really concentrate, just assume Westian will read the note and update as normal. Back tomorrow
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Aww, sorry to hear!
Well, I think the last update was pretty Westian-centric. And hey, Westian fluffed the perception roll, so he can be out of it most of this update.
Just waiting money's post and roll, and I think that's ready for this evening's update of goodness!

Bit distracted anyway, will give money (and OB if he wants it tomorrow) more time and post around my free morning
Night!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
sorry all, got called into a meeting yesteday and the 04.30 start and 21:30 finish meant i had no time to log on, will post later today though for sure.. sorry again
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
wow... even lotr extended versions are shorter!
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
@money .... And did you do any work at this meeting? Sounds like a nightmare 8 times round the golf course to me!
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
You can't get round the golf course 8 times in day... the 19th hole stops you every time
It's ok money, post when you can. Especially with OB down too I've no problem delaying to let you guys post a 'huh' before the next plot bit gets you!
Having lunch then back to work, will just say yesterday's update was cancelled and update this evening as normal

Feeling a bit better know, at least my head is working again! I wonder who is next to get the mysterious DM/D&D virus? Anyway just posted IC, at least Money got Falkor to stick the torches in the sconces before his marathon meeting!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread

Yeah, I'm thinking this might be the ghost of Veyla or something. Spoooky...but little murafu is currently under the management of Curiosity...maybe Fear has taken some time off or something
.

Lol...well, like rats, murafu seem to react to strange things by either legging it into the nearest hole, or by investigating it as much as possible
. She's already been scared, but now there's a weird ghosty thing that doesn't appear to pose any immediate threat (hey, it's some kind of apparently intangible apparition and Ameena totally pwned the Will save - how can it hurt them?
), she's being curious instead.

lol - a 20, 18, 16.... come on Westian!
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Lol, where's the fun for a DM if all the players roll well?
I hope OB fluffs so Westian either reacts poorly to the uncommunicative spirit, or is forced to be diplomatic through three people, who talk at once explaining the spirit's words

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Oh, and remember guys you can always try to use your skills or even raw ability checks to get more information for the next update. Knowledge and wisdom-based checks can always be attempted, and are usually harmless if they fail. Usually.

I really should actually open my profile for reference sometimes when I post, but it's usually early morning or late night and I can't be arsed...I don't think we have skills like Nature and Arcana and Religion in this version anyway, do we? Hrmmm can't remember, and surprise, I'm about to go to bed, lol.

You actually have knowledge (local), which is the assumption that you talk alot and look around alt wherever you go, so get to know some local tidbits or remember peculiar things to the region. Eg knowledge (local) reminds you of the pub with the scary ghost woman sign
And never be afraid to ask for more perception checks, as long as they are for something new - sniffing the entity, looking for shadows, etc
Remember, askign for specifics in a check might yield better information at lower rolls, or I might give you the info witout a roll!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
Yeah, I know that but I just keep forgetting...I do that in tabletop too...although it's easier to remember it there. Trouble is, I can then never think of anything to roll for. But I'm not a murafu there - I don't have such a good nose
.
I may have Local Knowledge, but who's to say we're anywhere local to where Ameena's been before? She could have been pulled miles to the dungeon, and since it's underground anyway, she might not have been aware of its location even if she'd been quite near to it (unless it had a really big obvious entrance which she happened to walk past, or if she heard people talking about it).
Anyway, let's see what spooky ghost lady says. If anything. Ameena won't have seen a ghost before. Wooooo...

Well I've already let you roll one knowledge check for local Anaias knowledge, so Ameena does kinda remember being in the area - just not the faces, etc.
Check the previous IC somewhere near the first room stuff, it was there. There was a set of italicised chat if i recall!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
I still need to summarise the last ten pages to myself, and I think I'll make it available to you lot too so you can keep trackMore memories came back to Ameena. Still no friendly faces came to mind, however voices and faces of background people, as if in a tavern or town, came to her. They were giving various opinions of the dangers and Denizens of Mount Anaias.
"Best not fall asleep without your doors locked, that's what they say!"
"With the Grey Lord caring for Viborg now? Ridiculous!"
"Bah, they say the Grey Lord has not destroyed any of the foul abominations and creatures Lord Chaos created!
"He wouldn't leave them, why would he? That would be crazy!"
"You're both idiots, I saw a creature only the other night, hideous it was, a hairy beast."
"That was your husband, you shoulda married better!"
The general conversations Ameena remembered seemed to indicate that Lord Chaos had created monsters from nothing, monsters that the Grey Lord had never destroyed and kept still deep in the mountain, allowed to run free.
This is also good things to summarise in your character sheets

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread
I rolled an 18 + 6 = 24 for a will save to understand the ghost. Another good roll for the party, we must have been the Ghostbusters before we reached Mt Anais!
Also examining the ghost to see if I can tell anything about it. Like is it a lost spirit, a banshee...I don't know what types exist, but if there is any info in that regard I will check my memory banks. I don't know whether the best roll is religion or the planes, but in either case I rolled a 20.

Woohoo! Lots of good rolls. Glad you guys got them out of the way before the combat.
Did I say combat, I meant.... combat.
Nah, there's no combat.

Oh, Ian, if you are around could you roll me a will save? You have +2
No pressure, but it's a DC 20 check and everyone else has made it

I thought this was a will check.... Oh, it's got the word 'will' in it but it must be for something else!

Sorry, me rushign the update at work and messing up. I thought you guys had done it, you included, and had got good rolls but then couldn't find yours!
18+2 for your will save (god bless your wisdom score!) means you can interrogate the ghost without fear too. You passed the DC20 check.
Wow, you guys are just way too lucky! That was supposed to be a nasty one, if you were perceptive enough to hear the ghost properly, you had a good chance of messing up on the will save and being in danger from too much empathy. I thought maybe Ameena would be the only one, and assumed she'd fail the will. Instead you guys got the further perception check then will!
Westian, being a cleric, always had the option of having slightly more protection, but instead he's the only one who failed ther perception check and put himself out of danger anyway!
So yeah, don't worry about that 3 Ian, I would have loved to see later but we'll just leave it as unusued. Curses!
