Haynuus could potentially Shift backward through the teleporter, then step to one side and wait for Drommal to come through before doinking him on the head really hard ;).
Regarding non-lethal damage...the mechanical description comapred to what actually happened wouldn't quite seem to fit, given that Drommal's wearing plate armour and his foot's probably about the same size as Ameena's head (possibly slightly bigger - I'm not sure how chunky the plate boots would be) - I suppose it was more of a dismissive action than an all-out proper kick, and that's why Ameena didn't go flying backwards with her face completely smashed in and then lose the back of her head as well when she hit the wall ;).

Yes, gauntlets (and therefore other heavily armoured body parts as far as I'm concerned) let you deal lethal damage or non-lethal damage. As you said, it wasn't a crushing blow. Irritatingly, I had actually said originally he pushed his heel into Ameena's face, then decided it sounded too wishy-washy. I dind't think I'd be arguing the other side! And yes, don't forget he's kicking out at Ameena but doens't particularly want to leave himself open to Haynuus again. Mechanically, there's no issue. Narratively, he'd therefore no be hitting her hard.

And stop using 4th edition terms! Or if you are going to use them, stop capitalising them :D It's a 5-foot step darnit!

Actualyl, he can't. A FIVE-FOOT STEP is a move action you can take (I imagine it like the haphazard hops and skips you'd take in melee adding up to some form of drifting, not a deliberate movement) only if you havemn't made another move. So he can't five foot step then move aside again.

However, he can make a withdraw action. Basically it's a fullround action where you can retreat without an AoO in the first square you leave, then you can move up to twice your movement if you want.

Question: Is Drommel suffering from being flanked?

Westian should probably heal himself, and Falkor would probably shoot great balls of fire at Drommal or Thinpas.
I don't think I should move Haynuus because if someone from the half-orc's side wanted to take a beeline to Falkor, they'd get at least one AoO.

Interesting times.

Nope, you have to have enemies on two sides of you. Farel is currently flanked

Well, "Shift" is faster to type than "five-foot step", and I'm capitalising it because doing so serves as a distinction between the game mechanic and the plain verb ;).
What else was I gonna say...oh yeah, I take issue with your referecne to the "only murderous nutter" being dead. At least while Drommal is still alive ;). And I re-checked your post - it does say that he smashed his heel into her face - maybe you changed that and forgot to save it or something? That's the only thing it's said since I've looked at it.
Meanwhile, I was sort of half-joking about Haynuus Shifting backward and donking Drommal on the head like that - yeah, I know a Shift counts as a Move action but I thought the idea of it was funny :D. Haynuus needs the skill my Kobold's got in our tabletop game - a power called Shifty which lets you Shift one square (so can be used as well as the standard Shift action).

@money, i forgot to say - you can always just use a 0-level effect to do 1d3 damage. You'll need a knowledge(arcana) for an attack roll, but at least you can plant one from further away in safety! You can decide on a damage type too - sonic, force, fire

Drank the LO VI potion, otherwise one hit from Drommal and I am out. Saving the UM VI for Haynuus, we can do a swap – I keep Drommal back while Haynuus retreats and heals. But aarrrggghhh I rolled a 1 on the d6 for the healing! :x

Ahhhh, but we are in the real of IMAGINATION! Actually, you half the result of a 1d6 and round up.

A 1d2 however...I bet you have a couple of those in sight :) I know I have a few in my wallet bulging it out.

I think you're supposed to roll a 1d6, half it, and if you get an odd number you then have to beg the DM for the remainder.

I like that idea, let's use that one instead! I expect at least two paragraphs of begging!

While highly unlikely, what happens if a 1d2 lands on it's edge?

Ok, rolled a second d6 and got a 4. Now I have 15 hit points to waste. I think next round cast UM VI, pass to Haynuus and move forward to tackle Drommal - if he is still alive. Currently Haynuus seems to be giving him a good chopping, and Falkor has a fireball up his sleeve! :D

Who says the YA rune knowledge was not situational? :D I'll spoil it for you ondce I know it's not going to be something you will need to be kept in the dark about :p

Wow, nice to see confidence after you've started getting potions! Completely warranted...Drommal's days suuuuuuuuuuuure are numbered....

It seems that every time I try to actually decapitate my opponent, the dice really want me to do so. :P
And, as for me switching to a different dice, I don't believe that I'll be hurrying to do that, with how most of my rolls have been... but, luck always ends somewhere...

Can't have you decapitating every opponent or it's not as fun anymore!

Seriously to everyone, realise 0hp don't have to mean 'death' though it will mean 'life threatening'. However, feel free to ask to not aim to kill (even if it is lethal damage) if you want to disable an opponent, though you may well find you have to at least treat a badly wounded foe. And remember you can probably intimidate or even bargin with a badly wounded opponent - who wants to die!

Also (perhaps not with so well armoured foes while you guys have kess bonuses) remember non-lethal damage is an option too. Good to finish off a foe perhaps once you know you can take him.

But, doesn't trying to be non-lethal reward your actions with a -4 to your attack roll?

Sorry for the double post here... But, I've downloaded about 99.9% (everything except the background and a couple of pages) of the "www.d20srd.org" and compiled it into a just under 7mb rar file, for completely offline viewing.

Here is the link.

Lol, no, it penalises your actions with a -4 attack roll. The rewards are more nebulous and yet could be far reaching!

Or it could just be an excellent way for a DM to deliver a 'gotcha' later and have a villain come back to kill you.

Really, just pointing out if your characters are not bloodthirsty they don't have to kill. Like everything in life and roleplaying, it's harder to do good and do something imaginative than just kill. Since combat does sorta degenerate into numerical and tactical stuff, I did want to reassure people the roleplaying and narrative hasn't gone away, the mechanics do support shades of grey in how you end combats.

I thought that people might like it. It's taken me about 4-5hrs to actually do it. I was doing it just for me, then I thought that you guys might use it too. The loading speed alone is worth the 7mb download.
