Oh yes, with my 25 that I rolled yesterday in my own private thread that's currently going on ;).
Speaking of which, you realise that Ameena is more or less going off by herself right now, right? She didn't consider that she had enough reason to want to stay with the rest of the group, based on her interactions with them so far (that is, everything from the start up till now, obviously the fight features quite strongly). She doesn't have many options as to what to do right now, but stepping through into a room full of horrible stinky dead bodies and a great big puddle of blood to reunite with violent people who she doesn't really know very well anyway isn't really very high on her agenda. Of course, for all she knows you've all just buggered off and left completely and she'd come through to an empty room (apart from the dead bodies, obviously).
Maybe Haynuus would have second thoughts about his parting words with Ameena, or someone will ask him what he said and realise the potential misinterpretation ;).
It's not that I'm trying to tell anyone what to do with their character, but we're gonna have an entire character thread separate from everyone else for a long time at this rate, unless we all run into more guards on our various routes and all get captured and brought together once more or something ;).

Obviously evil DMs might have ways to put blocks in, but right now once the initial room has worn off, it's either track Ameena or meet her on the flip side of the next part. Assuming she survives!

Edit: Oh, and it was me that suggested Ameena write here too just to clarify what her character was doing!

You made that quite clear before though, and I didn't think Haynuus would be able to persuade the murafu otherwise. As it was he left the room to look for Ameena and had ignored a request by Westian to stop Aurek getting crushed by a door
Ameena wrote:Maybe Haynuus would have second thoughts about his parting words with Ameena, or someone will ask him what he said and realise the potential misinterpretation ;).
That was just my bad English. Apologies if you read it another way!

As soon as we're sure Helm or the knight is not bleeding to death somewhere I'd happily concentrate on finding Ameena. We've not even had time to search the broken corpses, the blood-smatterd room or find a switch shaped like a halfling's finger. If you don't think Ameena would return to the room perhaps the DM will find an ingenious way for her return...

It's even more dangerous splitting from the group though!

Funnily enough, I am just listening to Wil's memories of the futurecast, and there was a little aside mentioning Aeofel's death again :D

Wizards of the Coast: "Never Spilt the Party"

And your evil DM won't railroad his players too much. There are a few hooks to delay people, but they can always ignore them! Anyway, Falkor's failure means that the party in the teleporter room will have a delay in their ability to open the door.

So if Westian fast talks with Ameena, she might be back. Of course, if Westian can't.... you might be two members down!

Requested Perception check regarding noticing Westian's interactions with ghosty-person...wheee, another 25 (18+7) :D. I think my d20 just likes me getting utility rolls like this, and not anything that's gonna affect, you know, whether or not I get hit and stuff :P.

As before, the ghost is 'broadcasting' her thoughts not really saying things, so you can hear her loudly enough without really hearing it through your ears.

And because you hear the ghost, you'll also work out why the glow was familiar :)

Rolled for perception, will save and intelligence check

Westian: Rolled 3d20 and got 17 19 10 => 19 17 10
Perception 17 + 3 = 20
Will save 19 + 5 = 24
Intelligence 10 + 1 = 11

Ooh, those are some good rolls, except for the intelligence roll which was never gunna give you much anyway!

Cool, so can update for OB and Ameena, and once LB has posted I can update for the teleporter room group too!

I'm going to assume that some poeple might not be around at the weekend, so I'm assuming there will be little updates this weekend. Feel free to prove me wrong, but otherwise have a good one!

Oh, and looking forward to Christmas, I might not have much (if any) internet access for the Christmas - New Year's week. Just warning you. Though I'm assuming alot of you would be wanting time off from the game anyway! Let me know when you want to wind down for the holiday's, and I'll see if I can introduce something contrived to make you scared for your character over the holidays :D

I guess no stupid christmas thread this year, either? That seemed to run out of steam last year.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread

I was actually thinking of the just today! My brain was in D&D mode, so I imagined a silly D&D DM game where people just took turns DMing an imaginary party of the champions with lots of stupid rules or outcomes, and then let the next person carry on explaining the results of the next roll, rule, monster, etc.

I forget if the gamebook thread was two years ago or last year. If last year was the murder story, then yeah, that just stopped dead :(

An idea for NEXT year then. You could have an XMas thread where each one of us plays a character (there's never more than 16 different people posting) and take it in turns to be a DM - firing problems or traps at the rest. When that task is finished, change the DM...

...I'm sure that the current D&D thread will be over by next Christmas...

Lol, of course *innocent whistling* . Infact, if I make the deadly contrived cliffhanger deadly enough, it might be over by this Christmas :D

Heh, if anyone ever wants to DM a game by the way, this thread can easily be expanded to take on multiple play by post games. I know Mon-Ful-Ir had asked about anyone wanting to game only last year I think.

Also, if any players wants to DM in this game down the line and have a stand alone level or something, I'm sure a suitable hand over point could be found too :D I'd love to be put through my paces by some of the devious minds around!

Anyway, to get back on topic.... Ian/ Haynuus has made some powerful moves as he recognises the awful truth - NPCs are designed to do nothing but get in each other's and the party's way, and if any ever seem like they are helping you, it was an accident. Haynuus has done a good job of addressing them all, but perhaps some well placed rolls or roleplaying might target somethng specific to netralise the sheer annoyingness of an individual NPC beofre he goes and buggers everything up. After all, you lot were supposed to be having an introductory get together discussion and tea party, dammit!

I'm still hoping that Ameena's not gonna be eventually persuaded to rejoin everyone else only to find that her only "friend" has had a knife stuck through his jugular .

Well if she will abandon her friends, then all the bloodthirsty maniacs get to decide the fate of them! :p

Edit: Oh, and very sneaky Ian, but I think Haynuus is concentrating on enough people at once that he woulns't have been able to get a great beat on Farel. So I guess the rolled 5 worked out well!

They're not really "friends" yet, more kind of "accidental companions" ;).
Much as I'd like to get into conversation with Westian, I can't really let the presence of ghosty-girl slip by. Since your post regarding Westian noticing a similarity between her and Theron, I'm guessing now that she's not Veyla but the daughter of her and Theron. Either that or Theron's got/had a sister or something. Or it's his mum! ;)
Anyway, yes, IC post made - sorry OB, Ameena's not trying to blank you out (she did say something to Westian first, after all ;)), she's just trying to take advantage of a possible source of information before it poofs again ;).

Or a really co-incidentally similar room-mate? Or it's his female half of his personality? Or it's a con :D

And awww, poor Ameena, she's about to be reminded that the spirit wasn't really all there :)

Well yeah, I know ghosty-woman doesn't always talk sense or even seem to clearly notice that there's anyone there (wondering who she was talking about just now - like Ameena pondered, the only "she" we know of so far in the dungeon, other than the ghost, is Ameena herself), but Ameena figures she might as well try to ask something - she doesn't know what ghost-person knows about the layout of the place, but she does know that the might just randomly disappear again. If any possible info can be had, she might as well go for it. She isn't really expecting to get any great revelation, or even necessarily a response or ackknowledgement. She's just trying because she can.

I have no problem with you and Ameena trying. Just be sure and keep track of your hit points :D

And heh, it's fun to see you miss the obvious every so often given the times you seem to nail my intentions usually.

Will save = 7 (5+2) Meh...
Fortitude save = oops...critical failure :P

Wow. The poor murafu is gunna get a bucket-load of...something....next turn and also some damage. So 1 point of non-lethal soul tugging damage and 1 point of lethal poison damage. How's she doing? 3hp NL from the kick +3 lethal from the poison + 1NL from the soul-tugging .... that's pretty close to 9hp! Any more wounds she hasn't slept away?

And wow, a critical failure, huh? seem to have been a few of those. Maybe I need to rethink how I'm handling poison if you keep doing that... Anyway, Ameena will definitely feel a dull ache in her paw, and spasm in her leg and paw everysooften, and just a general feeling of an itch under her skin she can't reach.

And once she recovers from her enconter with the spirit, a litle bit of dizziness too :p

She'd taken no damage prior to her kick in the face from Drommal - and now she's getting ganked without even being in combat, lol. No wonder she's not feeling so great right now.

Yeah, I'd already thought of that - he doesn't have Bro yet, and as far as I'm aware he's used up all his spells till he rests or however it works (I didn't really read into the spellcasting mechanics since I'm not gonna be using them and Ameena herself is clueless so it helps with that too ;)).
Anyway, crit fail on the Fortitude save probably means I get an extra something bad happening too, eh? I think my d20 doesn't like me right now...or it's just my usual luck of "get great Perception but crap things that actually affect whether or not I get twatted by something" ;).

Ah...maybe it's just crits on other stuff that give extra effects than, not on saves. Well that's good, hehe - hopefully means her leg won't explode or something ;).
