No but I meant, however they were killed, if it was a method that left bits of said guard splattered all over the place, for example, I'd need to know that before we get to the room (if we end up going there) so I know what's there for Ameena to react to on arrival...

As far as I can remember, I had hit him once, before removing his head in a VERY swift strike... so no bits, when Farel and Aurek put the dead guard in the cell, I take it that they also put his head in with his body. We also acted fairly quickly, if 1 round is 6 seconds, it would've been about 30 seconds after his head was removed, he was "put away", so not THAT much blood either. There still would be a blood pool though.

Well, a quick decapitation would have alot of blood. I never emphasised it at the time, and didn't want to make it a 'gotcha', but there was no way to disguise that kill very well!

Anyway, the plan sounds good. Sorry, have just got back from work, but I think it sounds like we have a plan then. Everyone was happy enough to go with the flow, so Westian's right hand passageway wins it!


I'll try to advance the plot forward a decent jump in terms of what you explore, please go back and have talks etc if you need to in little retroactive IC comments.

Ok, update post up!

Basically, you guys have a choice of direction. As players, you might be able to guess roughly what might lie up or down the stairs. Although Lord Chaos had no doubt shifted the dungeon a little before he was defeated, and the Grey Lord or inhabitants of Anaias may have made altereations since the original DM game.

Anyway, Falkor and Aurek are free to make knowledge (dungeoneering) rolls due to their history, to guess what is actually in this dungeon. And Westian is free to make a knowldge(history) roll - thogh this is more likely to reveal facts on the kings than anything else.

Everyone else is free to make whatever intelligence gathering checks they like - for example, Ameena can try a knowledge (local) on tales of Anaias.

Meanwhile, you guys need to choose what next. Pick a direction and go? Split up? Send scouts? Check for more door releases on the inside of the RA doors then create a rest area by sealing the two doors shut? Just drop at the t-junction and cross your fingers?

Choices, choices! Sorry, the weekend crept up on me again, I forgot to check who was around this weekend. I have some work to do tomorrow, and a Christmas party Sunday that will lead right to going back to work Monday (We stay overnight at a hotel) It sounds like you guys can discuss options and ask questions this weekend leading to Monday, and Monday evening will be the update. And as said, please post IC and OOC comments to what has happened as you go along to the end of the current update.

The Tomb of the Firestaff, cool!

Ok, I think we should try and close ourselves between two doors if we can find the mechanisms. Then we can rest and talk for a while, and decide where we want to go. Personally Westian would now like to go into the tomb and try and find the firestaff, even though I know beo won't make it that easy for us

The mechanism to close the doors are easy - you pull them down

Opening them up...well, there might be a switch like the one you previously found... you might find that knowing what it looks like makes the DC for finding it less...you might find the RA key is multi-use....

And lol, Westian should know the rumours that the firestaff was destroyed - remember, you guys are supposed to be in the timeline of after CSB! Assuming you ever played DM on PC and saw the ending animation, of course, or read the CSB manual story... if you didn't, you might not realise that fact!

I only saw the PC ending on Youtube recently. But I remember the firestaff being destroyed from the CSB manual.

I rolled for a knowledge (history) check and I got a 1. Nice.

Ok Westian was not there when they found the switch, but maybe one of the others will find it easily.

Or your character might just have not heard of this kind of stuff due to being busy exploring other aspects of the world, away from "civilisation" .

Hmm, interesting - I think a natural 1 deserves something. OB, it's not that Westian just didn't know about the Grey Lord's domanin, he was actively blocked from knowing things about it. Given he has been allowed to come along with Elders to visit the Grey Lord, it oculd have been stepsin his induction. Not give him information so we wouldn't be tempted by the position he was offered, planning to bring him up to speed later.

Or perhaps there is another reason.

However Westian interprets it - right and proper decorum or something strange - and also if he doens't mind it or harbours a secret desire to know the things he was not told - I will, as always, leave for thre player to decide upon

@money: just to ensure any confusion if charatcer confusion and not player confusion - the fayc that Gholst had the abilities he had should be confusing to what Falkor knows. However, I believe Gholst said he himself would leave the party (why? Another reason for confusion, you are right) but that he would have his minions deal with 'you'. So you can assume that perhaps the soldiers were the minions he meant.

Unless there is anything else, it sounds like Haynuus will go bakc left to the bodies, and Farel will go right to the stairs, with him assuming you can open he door again.

Just to allow you to play ok, at worst a take 20 search will reveal the switch to Falkor or Helm. Aurek and Haynuus can probably do the same because they saw the switch (so if Haynuus isn't in a rush, he can let himself back in - and infact needs to if the party shut the door), and Ameena's perception is good enough that she will be able to spot the switch with a take 20 (providing someone tells her the right area to look) even though she hasn't seen it herself.

The magic users won't actually need to properly 'rest' to get their spells back, now the adreneline has worn off, the mages should ave their spells pretty quickly and can start castng spells again as they relax. Note that aurek's 'lay on hands' won't come back unless the party actually settle in for another long sleep. If you guys want to do that.... well, you can if you really want.... Othewise, RP wise Helm and some of you might feel you want a proper rest, but mechanically you are good to go in five - ten minutes


Oh, unless you really want to roll, Westian and Aurek just pool together you healing dice from your VI potions that you cast, assume the average of 7 hit points per 2d6. Use that to figure out how long - assume your spells refresh every 15 minutes.

Money - note that Falkor could keep casting FUL spells at this time and stacking them together then recharging. The plus side would mean not using torches for light (keeping them for when needed), while the bad side is that they are focused on Falkor, and he currently has no way to undo their light incase the party actually need to have darkness

Lol, you can assume if the group are resting, and Falkor is sitting down, Helm will take his cue and sit down too Sorry, I forgot to put in Helm's reaction to the previous leg-hugging, can roll it into next update!

Well, the "leg-hugging" (it was more like "leg-rubbing-up-against, sort of like a cat would but she was standing on her hind legs) was when she opened her eyes - she sought him out straight away then and that was before they moved down the corridor. Now they've stopped I think Helm's leaning against the wall or something. What kind of (physical) contact would they have had before? I mean, the first time they met? Would she know how comfortable he is with a "giant rat thingy" trying to snuggle up to him? If so, how comfortable is he with that sort of thing? Then I know how to play it when he's down at her level .

Ok, and I need to stop doing on the spot updates that are that long.

Basically, Helm sitting ready for any further medical attention using the herbs or talking, and Farel will basically walk out the door and clsoe it behind him.

I think I forgot to post IC about closing the doors - Falkor should know, as would Helm, that just pulling the door down engages the counterweight and lets the door slam closed. Other doors might actually lock in an open/closed position, but the ones you have ecoutnered so far all follow this arrangement. The unlokcing mechanism lets you open and close them with ease, only locking the door in the closed position.

Does Falkor still have bandages? if so - more than happy for Falkor to offer them...

Yep, I think he took a decent handful (the equivalent of a healer's kit, which has ten uses). Might go some way to smoothing the odd distrust Helm has of Falkor, too! Plus give Falkor a chance to talk to Ameena and patchthings up there too.

If Falkor wants to directly patch up Helm, not just offer bandages, roll me a heal check. It won't have a mechanical effect, just gives a good idea of how well it goes to pitch the favlour text

In general I'll possibly be internetless in Aberdeen this year, my mother seems to have done somethign weird when trying to swap over providers. I'll try not to be too busy with finishing off work to give a few fun ideas over your free time!

I know Ian is off the week after next, when I return, so whatever it is will be casual, and I think we'll properly pick up again the game proper the week starting after new year.

Pity LB is still poorly, he's been looking into the rules for something else, so it might have been interesting having someone else DM your past meeting in the tavern

Well, whatever works . You've just given Ameena something to think about, anyway. She's still not really got over the whole fireball-fight thing yet, so will probably need some downtime when that all finally catches up with her. And a hug . Meanwhile, she'll probably not be sure about going with...umm "Serfarrel", because that would mean not being with Helm. But if Farel doesn't take her then he might not take anyone, and though she knows that humans can do better alone than murafu, she'd probably still feel bad for him. A plus side of going with him would, I suppose, be that she wouldn't need to deal with Falkor for a bit longer. But then she'd feel bad for Helm instead, for leaving him behind.

Aurek's asked Fasrel to stay, so he'll stay, and yeah, you and Falkor and Aurek have your spells back - though Aurek's lay on hands won't come back without a full rest.

Lol, why would she bite the soldier? I don't think she really knows anything about Passin - he hasn't even been mentioned by name out loud yet, I mean by characters, has he? I don't think she saw him do very much except join in escorting the group to the teleporter under Drommal's orders to begin with. I can't remember which he was during the fight (stayed behing with Drommal or went through first), but I don't recall Ameena seeing him actually manage to hit anything (I think he was one of the ones who attempted to confront Aurek and Farel and got pwnzored...I can't remember where/how he got hit, or who by, but I'm guessing he's now only partly-injured and rather bloodstained after that potion).
I've already made an IC post...if anyone wants to question the little murafu's actions, just go ahead and ask her .
