The ranks are just like a little reward for being here. Some people will hang them on the walls in their office for all to see, others will put them in a box of memories to think back on (when or if they get time), others don't even realise they have them until the next time they tip over one.

Ha ha, funny to go back over those old posts:
There are still several things left to tidy up and if there is sufficient interest I'll sort them out and release the full DM and CSB dungeons.
Nearly 9 years later with people still making (or trying to make) dungeons, I'd say that's sufficient interest! :D

DM boxes and floppy stickers were produced in 1986 so they show a "copyright 1986" but the game was only released in december of 1987, just in time for christmas.

I wouldn't say that anything in those auctions is rare or unusual. The seller only uses the word "rare" to drum up business -- what they mean is that it's hard to find the game in good quality these days. It doesn't mean that the game was actually rare: they were, after all, released in their hundreds of thousands.

November 9th, 2009. Hard to believe that 20 years have already passed. I'm glad about what happened back then, and I certainly wouldn't live here in Berlin otherwise.

Wow, is it really 20 years!? I remember watching it on the news, not fully understanding what was going on (I was ignorant of world politics in my teens!).

Jan, yes I am, I grew up near Hamburg. I was only 11 when the wall came down, so I didn't quite understand how important that was and what it really meant. I vividly remember going shopping with my parents on November 10th 1989, and there were hundreds of East Germans with their Trabants (a weird thing that people from the GDR used instead of a real car) there, and everyone was waving and smiling at each other. Quite special.
I now live in the west part of Berlin, and you can still see differences in architecture and infrastructure in the west and east parts of the city. The "wall in the heads", as the Germans call it, is also still intact, though it is slowly crumbling as well.

LOL, my father had one when I was a child, we sold it when I was 5 or 6 years old (1985 or 86). I have a lot of very funny memories of that car! :D

Interestingly, Trabant and Wartburg were the only cars used in communist countries that could be easily started even in very tough winters with temperatures dropping bellow 20C (because of the two-stroke engine)! :)

It's a girl! baby Saqillah = 3.555kg and 51.5cm
Not that I didn't know already the sex. And she was born on my birthday (14/Nov) too, so from now on she'll steal all my birthdays, she'll get older and I'll stay 30 forever [insert evil laugh, in hushed tones so us not to wake the baby].

Took ages in the hospital, glad I took a book, but of course I stepped up when I was needed. Rachael did very well, no drugs, wasn't fun for her at the time, but 30min after it was all over she was right as rain.

...Now to tell my real family.

Wow, congratulations, Trego! :D

3.5 kg - she's quite big! A girl was born to one of my collegaues a week ago and she had only 2.7 kg (now she's already 2.95).

And, lol, you have the same birthday, wow, so you'll save some money on birthday cakes and parties and these things - I was born on June 13 and my father on June 15, so I know what I'm talking about (sharing one cake etc.)! :)

PS: And happy birthday to you too! :P

3.555kg = about 7.8lbs and she was early. Big baby just means we don't need as much new born sizes and can go to the 6month sizes earlier.

It's interesting that in comparative terms, games today are much cheaper than they were 20 years ago.

I think I've turned into the worlds cheapest night out. 2 beers and one wine and I'm concentrating on not slurring my words and knocking into things. Although this night out was at home, the in-laws did give a good excuse to put a few (only if you count 3 being a few) away.

I could have been the 12months since my last drink (not that AA was involved, but Brunei being a dry country means I'm too lazy/busy to travel/drive the 30min (which is of course far to long these days even with petrol being 50c/L), to pass the border into Malaysia (obtain 4 more stamps into the passport on the round trip), pay the $12 for 12 beers and $32 for 2 bottles of wine, which is the allotted maximum, to come all the way back home. But I'm sure I should have been able to handle more.

What has happened to the Uni days where you end up spending far to much for far too many drinks and even then the bar seems to close way before your ready to go home.

You believe correct. When I was teaching back in back in NZ there was no such thing as 'going' on holiday, I barely broke even each month, here I we actually go on holidays, and find we have money to spare/save.

According to dictionary, it's eucharist. But I don't think you would drink in a catholic church.

About game price new games can still easily be worth as much as 60 $ is, but you're right considering how valuable monay was so long ago. But it's same with most things: price's rises a bit, but money value drops twice as fast causing people actually become richer. But with houses and territory for them that thing goes vice-versa.
