More importantly, you could fire and hit other creatiures in other 'rooms' (even if they were stairs) at different elevations infront of you, therefore interacting in 3D even if you weren't moving in true 3D

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
But all those elements are just window-dressing. The core leap forward of Doom was a what became known as a 2.5D engine (explained well by Jan's last post). This Spectrum version of Doom is just a Wolf 3D engine, with "textures" on the walls and extra sprites thrown in. Sorry to be so pedantic, but it's not Doom!Adamo wrote:It is Doom, technically, just for ZX Spectrum purposes. It has textures, monsters, music, interface, text commands, even dead bodies lying on the floor. Everything that old, original Doom should have - I`m talking about Doom 1 from 1993. You couldn`t move head up and down, but - I think - in original Doom 1 you couldn`t, too

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
After her DM adventure, Tiggy apparently went on to a music career singing bubblegum dance pop:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnzrn0ArRMs
As you can see, she still has her hairdo from the DM days, and if you read between the lines, you can hear her recounting some of her adventures (slaying a dragon? sounds familiar!); I wouldn't be surprised if she's singing to/about Mophus, too.

And here's the actual video:

Not sure why she wanted to subscribe to the Stock Aitken Waterman school of rock. I would have thought this would have been more appropriate:

LOL, he really goes for that. Love the way he runs out of breath, then kind of looks up as if to say "Yeah? You want some?"

The AVP films are awful, but a film of this would be a lot better!

Who? What? I thought we had taken a 'insult swordfight' turn.
I was going to suggest DE-odorant (a bunch of you might benefit), rather than antiperspirant.

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
get's a bit odd at a few points with this recurring theme of the reviewer being a psychotic killer.. but feel free to ignore those bits. The rest of it is gold though
very clever insight to the phantom Menace. Many things which I myself had noticed, but it's nice to see I'm not the only one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI
there are 7 parts so watch all 7.. number 3 is the rather odd one. and the very end of 7 can be skipped.

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
That Phantom Menace review was completely spot on. I actually took the time to watch the whole lot (about 65mins worth!) Quite revealing seeing some of those "behind the scenes" videos, especially after they watched the first cut and Lucas admits "I may have gone too far." Hilarious! "May" have? It's a shame that he didn't have more people around him willing to stand up to him. Still, I don't think that would have helped -- as the review points out the whole story is fundamentally flawed, with no clearly defined central character for the audience to connect with.
What a complete turkey of a film. The other two weren't much better either.
Anyway, totally unrelated, here's some funny photoshopped Fighting Fantasy covers. I think I posted these once before, but what the hell:

Something not only for Masterwuuf - Highlands sled dog race:

The dogs look really very happy and enthusiastic. Our dog looks like that only when he sees me eating a chocolate.
