Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
The murafu seems too busy rooting through the things on the floor to properly response to Falkor. She finds a couple of potions and sets these on the floor nearby, evidently more interested in just finding useful-looking things than actually using them immediately.
Then again...
The rattish-looking creature suddenly pulls something out of the pile which she seems to find most interesting. She looks closely at it then turns a little, holding it so that Falkor can see it.
"Hmm..." she says. "This does something good, doesn't it? I can't remember...I mean, I seem to remember these things being good, but...I can't quite remember..."
She holds it closer to herself, sniffing at it, and starts picking and prodding at it with her small clawed fingers, apparently trying to open it to see what's inside.

That's a bit better! If you are still around, nominate either grak-grak 3 or 4 as the target, and also nominate what square you moved to.
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
OOC - He threw the club at number 4, and charged number 3 - the one feasting on an unconscious Westian.
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Charging narratively, or mechanically charging? Remember for the wacky +2 atrtack bonus you also get a less wacky -2AC afterwards. Also, 4 is the one snacking on Westian, do you mean that one you charge at>. Actually, it's not a feeding frenxy, more a frenzy frenzy, so the bite was purely violence
I somehow think that's a minor comfort to OB and Westian right now!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
OOC - Doh! He charged (and missed with a natural one) at 4. He'll use the AoO on that one.
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
If the murafu was a figment of Falkor's imagination, at least it was a helpful one. Falkor, and Westian before him, had been too distracted to spot the treasure hiding in Seeroc's pile of rubbish. Luckily, the murafu produced a few potions that - surely - had to be beneficial. More importantly, the item Ameena had stated was something she recalled being useful, and was even now contending with, was something Falkor instantly recognised too.
It was colloqueally called a 'freeze time' box, although the effect was more complex than that and was really only a variant of a hold spell. Falkor had, luckily, seen a lesser one of these demonstrated in class once, and had actually been allowed to try it. Opening it with the right magical thought (a thought that was usually written on the bottom of the box) would release the magic and hold everyone around - except for those in the centre of the blast - like the eye of the hurricane.
However, Falkor knew that if the person were to concentrate as they activated the box, then they could try to rule more people out of the effect. Falkor knew this item might be the turning point - he could sense its power, the effect of this green-tinged wooden box would surely last longer than a few seconds.
Money, both you and OB made perception checks around the area requested by me, and both of you tanked them! Still, you better believe the natural 20 with good knowledge, combined with a good item, makes that moot now!
Anyway, so Falkor can use this item at the top of the next round as a standard action (I'm sure Ameena will let him take it if he explains what it is). Upon using it, roll me another knowledge (arcana) check. For each 5 scored, Falkor can rule out one more person in the effect. Falkor and Ameena are automatically immune as long as Falkor stays next to the murafu. So say 5 = Haynuus, 10 = Haynuus and Aurek, 15 = Haynuus, Aurek and the scorpion, etc. Anyway, you could have really used this last round, but hey, this round will save Haynuus...
Oh, before you ask, Falkor probably knows the effect would last around 20 - 30 seconds for a powerful box (3 - 5 rounds, actually its 1d4+2, but I'll be the one rolling that so you won't know when it wears off
Haynuus saw the frenzied grak-graks and could finally move. His club had done nothing, but Haynuus hoped his sword might solve the issue. Then they could recover the priest (he said he had a potion in his pouch, after all) and everything would be ok.
However, Seeroc's villainy extended beyond death. The delay stopped Haynuus from arriving in time, just as the mage's death stopped his creations from acting with any compassion. The things kept attacking, Westian obviously dead to Haynuus's eye from the wounds inflicted, while Farel did not seem to move either - a single groan escaping him that could have been his last.
For a moment Haynuus paused, his blow not falling. After all, he had apparently failed his charge. What happens on a mission from God if you fail? Of course, the sight of a foe not regarding him, in the act of murdering someone who had thought the half-orc special, brought his orcish instincts to the fore. A massive chunk of the creature was torn out by Haynuus's double-handed blow.
The creature did not seemed concerned by it at first, but perhaps it realised its foe was not moving anymore. After a final stab at Westian, the thing did look upwards with a hiss. The hiss drew the gaze of its fellow. As one, the two creatures screamed and swarmed around Haynuus, limbs flailing...
Cool, you damaged one! Unfortunately, the coup de grace still happens. Its the temperament of these creatures and the reason why you were warned about them in a few subtle ways - unlike other foes, if they are in a frenzy when you drop they'll keep attacking. Normal operating procedure is that normal creatures release once you drop giving you a chance. I'll find narrative or explicit ways of warning you if a type of creature, or an indivisual personality looks like he's cold blooded in this way since its not nice. Still, its also an option, so never metagame and assume you have a few rounds to deal with a problem then come back and chuck a potion down someone's throat.
Westian died from the blow he received directly, Farel was actually stil la few hit poitns shy of death, and a coup de grace also involved a death save afterwards which he failed
A stark lesson kids - don't ever be helpless when a foe is around you.
So yeah, who remembered how to get back to that VI altar?
OB, I'll PM you about your choices here
Aurek was swinging his weapon at the creature that was trying to tear into him. He managed a good hit on its shoulder, but it carried on regardles, inflicting terrible blows as if Aurek's black armour was barely there.
While other characters are dropping dead or one attack shy of dropping dead, I don't want to have Aurek just be pristine. I've let Aurek autoattack his foe (one miss, one hit for max damage). I'm not sure what to do abotu the next round, since technically Aurek would drop if the creature succeeds, but I don't want to potentially kill his character in absentia. Hopefully, that dilema will be taken from me.
The scoprion screamed in agony as the grak-grak continued to smash its talons repeatidly into the wopunded carapace of the thing. Its powerful claw did not move to gripping its foe anymore. Inteatd the creature fell back and started snarling. If Falkor wasn't distracted by his exiting new find, the halfling might have recognised the plaintive snarls were calling for aid from its fellow creatures.
Meanwhile, the only cries being answered were the screams of the grak-graks. Falkor and Ameena, close to the fake wall, could not help but still hear the echoing sound of more somewhere in the distance.
More worryingly, could Haynuus hear the same faint echoes, but coming from a direction more likely the door?
Quite a few natural ones flying around in my dice this round, plus there was Hyanuus's too. Sadly, not in places that count. Infact this last one for the scoprion was quite bad. Falkor hasn't talked to the scoprion again, and LB isn't around ot have Aurek focing it to attack, so its natural 20 on 'morale' kinda falls a little flat now as it enters low hit points, and also does a natural 1 to miss its foe.
Anyway, who cares about the NPCs and critters, the important thing is you guys! So yeah, Westian's down, Haynuus looks in a bad way flank wise, and Aurek might only be safe because of player absense. Still, Falkor now has a magical box that might ease all your troubles...
Can you guys post a list of potential actions for 3 - 6 rounds if Falkor does use the magical box?

The cries in the room were piecing, this was going to have to end soon one way or another - and Falkor started to fear the outcome. Stuck in a room with a scared rat and fearless Grak Graks... "Quickly, the box, I can use it to freeze those creatures, perhaps give us long enough to save others..." Falkor grabbed the green box and carefully checked over for any markings, he needed to activate iot quickly and, most importantly, try to keep his friends moving...
He concentrated long and hard before shouting magic words... The power felt stranger than normal, strong and powerfull.. Suddenly everything seemed to grind to a halt and the only noise seemed to be those of his friends Falkor Rolled 1d20 and got 15 Ameena, Haynuus, Aurek and the Scorpian moving. "Quickly everyone, we must kill those damn creatures before they come back to life"

OOC - In a reality where Money's efforts fail on at least one of the Grak Grak's by the side of Haynuus - Strength check, (no midifier if it's on DEX) (1d20+4=15) Will suffer two AoO
Haynuus was in a desperate situation, but there was a glimmer of hope - yet with risk. Being flanked by the GrakGrak's was hopeless, yet Haynuus reached down to grab the foot of Westian and with all of his might catapulted himself straight left with a corpse bobbing up and down and around the monsters. As soon as he was outside of where the blue haze would appear he let go of his recently deceased friend and continued... To smack the button once more and light up the room with a fluid blue atmosphere. He daren't look back to see if he had trapped the undead fiends behind him.

Sweet. You guys have at the very least three rounds worth of actions - except falkor, who has two plus a move action. After that...well, each round could be the round everything comes back again
Haynuus can certainly drag the two bodies, one per round, to where the torch is. Activating the blue haze in the third round if no-one else volunteers. Remember that the two grak-graks of Aurek and the scorpion are on this side of the haze. You can certainly try to push one into the blue haze each round. Note, that means it's a gamble to push the second one in. Also note that the scropion isn't necessarily your friend, and Falkor has kept him free

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
OOC - In a reality where Money's efforts succeeded on all horrible beasties
Round 1) Pick up bodies, 2) Move AND/NOT Flick the switch, 3) Bull rush
Haynuus was confused as a confused inmate in an asylum for confused people. Falkor held what looked like a jack-in-the-box and spoke a few chosen archaic words to make the world stop... But Haynuus moved. He picked up both Westian and Farel and threw them over his shoulder (Strength check for carrying two peeps over his shoulders (1d20+4=23)). He was practically panicking and with fear comes strength. He shifted their weight and moved across the room to... (turn on the blue haze/but maybe someone else can do that!) G8, hopefully entrapping the fiends that had been assaulting him earlier. Dumping unceremoniously the bodies he turned to face the other undead fiends.
Next, with the blue light illuminating the two GrakGrak's at the other end of the room Haynuus decided to play dominoes... He would charge the first (prone & no AoO?) monster in an attempt to push one or both into a hazy prison. He shouted "For Weeeestiaaaaaaan!" and bull rushed the closest of the two GrakGrak's (1d20+9=14, 1d20+4=23).

The murafu allows Falkor to snatch the green box. She pays him no further attention, for now, as she instead grabs the two potions she'd put down, stowing each one safely away inside a pouch. She gives barely a glance in Haynuus's direction before apparently turning her attention to the body of the gnome. Though mainly focused on the dead mage, one paw nevertheless reaches out and takes up the wand, putting this inside a pouch at her belt too.
She seems interested in the stone altar/table, and keeps looking between it and the gnome's corpse. She gives it (the corpse) a brief sniff, then starts shoving at it, apparently trying to push it toward the altar.
"I think...I think we need to get him up there!" she calls out, though doesn't seem to be addressing anyone in particular. "Remember? Or he'll be back again again!"
She has her head down, shoving at the body with her forepaws, several bloody bite-marks still clearly visible on both forelegs and, now she has her head down, a small patch of blood-matted fur is visible on the back of her neck as well.
OOC - Standing south of Soorec's corpse, shoving him northward toward the table thingy. So, F8/F7.

Ok, Ian has listed actions for three rounds, but since OB was not around this weekend / the rest of you haven't I'll just post one round's worth of action.
The effect was instantaneous as soon as Falkor opened the box, and his mastery kept the rest of the people he thought of as allies. Opening the box seemed to give no indication that anything had happened, it simply looked like an empty small wooden box inside. However the fact that Haynuus, Aurek and the scoprion found their demented attackers frozen in grotesque place was enough to verify Falkor was successful, and Ameena's find could well have been the one to turn the battle.
Haynuus discovered the issues of weight and weight distribution. He was incredibly powerful, unfortunately wearing three sets of armour and two new sets of owners wasn't quite as easy as he hoped. When they got these two back on their feet - and what High Lord didn't like their own cleric and a siny knight - he might need to suggest a change of diet. Deciding on the less ceremonious but much more practical solution of takign a leg each and just pulling them, Haynuus went to work.
Meanwhile, Haynuus had already - amazingly for him - thought of his next move. The scorpion was already doing part of the work for him though. Perhaps sensing something was up, and seeing the weakness in its enemy, the scorpion grabbed its foe once more.
Grasped in the claws with no means of fighting back, its body was easily cracked hard. It would surely not take too much longer for one of these horrors to be put down finally, crushed into innanimation - perhaps even severed in two.
The table was too high for Ameena for Ameena to push Soorec onto it, athough she could at least force the diminuative dead form closer until it bumped onto the little ledge around it.
Note, these guys are under the paralysed condition - means their strength and dexterity is effectively 0. Also, you get +4 to attacks against them.
Note, you could instead concentrate on a coup de grace, except undead may well not be able to have a fast trace throat slip. After all, they're dead already. Still, as a fullround action that provokes AoOs you could do some automatic damage instead.
Anyway, map for this first round is http://www.dmjump.net/seeroomfight10.jpg. You can assume you have two more round's worth of actions free of charge!
Haynuus will be able to drag the bodies out next round (actually, I mis-remembered the 1/2 movement rate for dragging, its being overloaded/shuffling somethign too heavy for you) so Ian you can have them planted them anywhere within six squares

Haynuus heaved and dragged the bodies (to H8) away from the GrakGrak's. They were heavy on the one hand yet wore shiney armour so they scraped and bobbed their way past the torch on the floor.
"Swiiiiiitch!" he shouted in the direction of the two miniature magical midgets in front of him. As always in these situations Flakor was taking it overly cool and was peering into an empty box Ohhh fascinating, while Ameena who had appeared out of thin air earlier was ferreting around the body of the gnome. "And get me one of your magickal drinkies when you've finished!" He looked down at Westian. Maybe...
Next up was the last two Grak Grak's. One looked as if it was about to be squeezed in two, which was a good thing. The problem was, what would it do if Haynuus attempted to barge the last one into the blue haze? The other had been in a toe-to-toe with the paladin for ages. It was as if Aurek had changed into an Errol Flynn[*] and was simultaneously bantering and fencing with the undead fiend. He prepared himself for a charge anyway.
[*] That famous ogre swordsman who defeated his foe not just by swatting them repeatedly with the flat side of his 15 foot blade but also assaulted them with Satire[+] and a touch of Pathos[+].
[+] Haynuus didn't know this but Satire and Pathos were the names of each of the blades soldered into the front of the boots worn by the ogre.

Falkor moved next to Ameena (G7), there was a lot going on and little time, he knew that before long those creatures would come back to life. "Ameena, why should we put him on the table? What will that do?, HAYNUUS - Can you get the switch, I need to help Aurek" With this he turned and fired a fireball into the direction of the 2 frozen Grak Graks, aiming at the last one (that the scorpian had left).

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Falkor receives no response from the murafu-looking creature for several seconds. She has her head down, eyes scrunched shut, ears flattened, and continues to shove at the gnome's corpse.
Eventually, she seems to become aware of him on some level.
"I can't remember why...we need to do this." she pants, not stopping in her actions. "Just...because he'll come back again. Maybe someone else will...remember. Up there...he needs to go...up there..."
She gives another push at the body, head down, eyes and ears scrunched up as though trying to block out the surroundings.
"Do you know...why he came back?" she asks. "Maybe he undid...whatever we did. But...maybe this will work for now...until we can...think of something."
She seems utterly exhausted, yet continues to push at the corpse, apparently unwilling...or unable...to do anything else.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
While Ameena continued her endeavours, apparently unregarded for her remarkale reappearance nor her possibly remarkable urgings, Falkor moved into position and threw another fireball - this time at one of the helpless horrors that would soon become less helpless.
The fireball smashed satisfyingly into the horror, however the explosion blew solidly against the thick hide of the creatures. It had certainly done damage, however apparently these creatures were very solid. It would certainly take alot of power to destroy them.
Heh, poor little grak-grak has no way to avoid full damage
Still, not quite sure where the +4 comes from as I'm rushing around a little? It should be 3d6+3, and you can add 1d3 if you give up a 0-level slot. Did I miss something I'd mentioned earlier?
As if to demonstrate this principle, the scorpion shrieked with some strange emotion - Falkor felt the odd works were some relieved joy. The bottom frozen legs of the grak-grak fell to the floor. The top body visible above the claws very, very slowly toppled onto the floor. The scoprion clashed its claws once or twice, and small particles of dust fell down.
The grak-grak=s body turned, suddenly, to a mess of very much moving small elements - in the dim light, it would take a moment to realise they were maggots. Almost as quickly, those maggots turned upon themselves, as if eating each other.
Slowly and surely, each one crumbled into dust, a dust that seemed sticky. By the end of the little disgusting theatre, there was nothing remaining but an oily patch on the floor, and a disgusting smell a few moments latter.
There was a snarl or challenge, and a clicking of a single pair of claws from the scoprion - it was telling all around to stay away. Especially Falkor, seemingly terrified that the halfling had revealed his ability to throw fire so effectively. However, the scoprion was still bleeding ichor profusely from the multiple blows its now dead foe had landed upon it.
Haynuus, meanwhile, had managed the task of pulling his friends clear of the prison they had once been in - if, perhaps, a little too late. Haynuus had yelled for Falkor to produce a soothing potion, but then realised Westian himself had prepared for this - one should be in his pouch. And indeed it was!
Ok, so there we go, you guys...very indirectly - killed a grak-grak! Woohoo! And Haynuus gets a VI potion (I forget the strength off the top of my head) to use. And you guys have one round still completely free and clear to act, before you may need to start worrying.
What will you guys do? Will Haynuus risk charging at the grak grak but perhaps be targetted by the scorpion? Will you guys decide two grak-grak's in a teleporter field is worth one near a scoprion? And what the heck is Ameena actually doing?
All these questions aren't answered by this map:
http://www.dmjump.net/seeroomfight11.jpg
I don't think I expected the encounter to go on this long in terms of real life (seem to have had a few breaks), and certainly did not expect a mapthat looked this this with the people on it that are, in the state that they are in. Craziness! Hope you guys can see an end in sight, and hope you guys can get there!

OOC - Either Wuffy forgot that, or was referring to the attack roll rather than damage roll...?

Ah, i see! I knew it had to come from something I'd said that I'd forgot... yes, sorry, you get +4 to attack rolls only, not damage rolls. Combined with their -5AC for no dexterity, that usually means only armour is stopping them from being hit. Which means it sucks you rolled low on 3d6 cause that's only 8 damage

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Falkor quickly searched Seeroc (1d20=19) - perhaps he had more items of use on him that could help the others. He grabbed the other end of Seeroc and looked closely at Ameena, he was sure it was her, it looked like her... "What happened to you when you left us?" He waited for an answer before even considering lifting Seeroc onto the table.
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Haynuus slapped his hand on his forehead.
His friends were dead, there were undead on the loose, and the paladin was shouting "Hath at thee, foul smelling fiend!"
It was then a ghost like form appeared in the shape of Master Westian. Haynuus, use the fooorce... He understood what his recently deceased friend was suggesting from the grave (or OOC thread as it is otherwise known) and so he sidled across the room and pushed the button with his forefinger, illuminating the place with a swimmingly blue hue.
The question was. Could the half-orc fit the neck of a flask into his mouth as well as a gem, and a panting tongue hanging out the otherside. He'd best not spill any of this precious liquid!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
The murafu pauses in her efforts and looks up at Falkor. She blinks at him, looking slightly confused.
"What do you mean?" she asks. "We all sort of...left each other, didn't we? I mean, sort of. Seeing how we were all...sort of...thrown, like that. At least we've all found each other again now. And whatever we did to Soorec before has...umm...well, apparently it didn't work, did it? Or maybe someone else undid it. Maybe that other mage...person...got here and changed something. Was it even here that we...hmm, no, I think it was. Yes..."
She gives her head a quick shake and looks back down at the gnome.
"But maybe we can do it again. I mean, if he comes back again[...maybe we can at least be far away by then. Well, somewhere away. Just not here, Not near him. And the grak-graks. I suppose we need to find that mage...person...again. And...and everything..."
She trails off, putting her head down again and continuing to shove at Soorec's body. Her ears and whiskers are drooping. In the light currently being given off by Falkor, what little he can see of the rattish creature's fur looks grubby, bloodstained in places, dull and lacking lustre. The wounds in her forelegs must surely be uncomfortable, if not downright painful. Likewise the smaller wound in the back of her neck. But she seems to ignore them for now, as she apparently seems to be ignoring everything else that's occurring in the room. She certainly hasn't portrayed any kind of reaction to the fates of Farel and Westian, or indeed anyone else, assuming she's even noticed. She seems much more concerned with getting Soorec's body up onto the stone, altar-like table, and probably only looked up at Falkor because his question seemed to surprise her.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Heh, so I guess I need to know if Falkor helps to put the gnome onto the table, or not. Ameena and Falkor combined can lift the little gnome mage onto it.
Falkor, before the odd comments by Ameena, quickly looked around the gnome mages pockets. Seeroc had been a little absent minded, and so to start with it seemed the mage had nothign ot hide. A broken wand of a dark green material, and a completely black wand. A gold coin with a lightning strike on it. Some string. An empty flask. Two Parts of a small ring, a plain silver band broken into a third and two thirds.
However, then Falkor found the secret little pocket. Tehre seemed ot be an odd form of...compass? It was bronze, with two pointers not jsut one, and symbols all around instead of the normal N S E W. And more importantly, Falkor found a blue blox - the smaller twin of the green box he had just operated himself.
Seeroc had a device to freeze the companions in place. It would have only lasted a few seconds, but a few seconds would have been long enough to throw a spell, use a wand, or even apparently set a horde of evil undead of them. Falkor's skin shivered at how vulnerable they could have been.
Meanwhile, Haynuus quickly moved to press the button, just as he knew was right, and as Westian would have wanted. Although the things did not move, they very obviously were transported into the back of the holding area. Haynuus tried to take a swing of magical potion in celebration, however the flask was actually empty, and the remnants just made his tongue tingle.
Edit: And as you will know from the OOC thread, just altered the above and this message, since Haynuus doens't get 4d6 healing after all.
Ouch
The scorpion did not seem, after the odd decomposition of the body, emboldened by its victory. The group saw it disappear aroudn the corner, although Falkor could make out very vague threats of violence coming in the snarls and chirps of the thing.
One thing was for certain, however. The state of affairs - the grak-grak's frozen nature - could not last forever. Infact, it might not last another second/ How much longer did the group have to act before swift death tried to visit them once more. How long until the faint cries of the other grak-graks getting closer resumed?
That's the real question.... do you guys trust another round without attack? Or another two? Or even three?
Obviously, you now have only one grak-grak to immediately deal with, unless something bad happens. However, more could surely be on the way.
Does Falkor trust Ameena, should he put the gnome on the table?
Find out, tomorrow! Dun dun dun!
Oh yeah, map:

The half-orc felt somewhat silly. There was now three artifacts hanging from his mouth, and the flask he had just shoved in there was empty in the first place! The problem was that there was just no time...
It was then Haynuus notice Flakor pocket another of those little magic boxes, "Ahhh a titillating discovery" he said in his utmost thaumaturgilogical accent. The scene before him was one of the-magically-appearing-Ameena attempting to hoist the gnome onto the table and Falkor asking why. It would be fair to say that Haynuus knew that both of them was hiding something from the rest of the party, but at least their intentions had never been malevolent. Quite frankly there was more important things to do right now than chat of shift corpses around but when he finally noticed the wounds on the Murafu this would indicate that she had been suffering along with the rest of them. He sighed and jumped over to the table (G7) to literally flip up and slap the half-sized corpse on top of the table. At least now he was in a position both see what was going on in the room, and if necessary charge the final Grak Grak that was free... And the scorpion?
Talking with difficulty he said "I can hear more of these Grak-Grak's from behind that magickal wall. There is little time. Someone grab some potions from the right side of the shelf, and I'll task myself on helping the paladin with this last one. Falkor, DO something with the scorpion." That last comment was less a command, more for a plea for help.

Haynuus lifted he Gnome onto the slab, Falkor was not comfortable at all with this - for all he knew Ameena would turn into some sort of wizard and the Gnome would be telling them all how 'interesting' it was to die and come back to life again - still for now he had little choice but to go along with it. "Haynuus, get over here - If I need to use this magical box to stop the Gnome from returning you have to be close - and if he does return get him into the blue Haze once i've frozen him."
"Scorpian, Don't fear us, we mean you no harm - there is only one of those monsters left. If you can help us with him it would be appreciated." Falkor wasn't sure how much the Scorpian would understand, but his voice was calm with an element of authority in the tone. "We mean you no harm, I promised and will honour that promise to you, but please help us one last time. I will attack him with a fireball, then please push him into the haze."
Falkor, true to his word, fired another fireball (3d6+3 = 11) in the direction of the last remaining Grak Grak. He just hoped that the Scorpian would assist in finishing off the job before the freeze effect wore out - or the Scorpian might think it was planned this way!

The murafu-creature continues to shove at the lifeless body of the gnome. She doesn't seem to notice as Haynuus lifts the corpse and dumps it onto the stone altar. She seems somewhat...unfocused...for a moment, as though distracted by some private thought. Then she gives a shudder and her right foreleg seems to twitch slightly.
Then she blinks, and her gaze moves upward and ahead slightly until she's looking at the gnome again, now lying on the table. Though already showing visible signs of exhaustion, she now seems to add fear to the mix, her body tensing up slightly, though the focus of her gaze doesn't alter.
"I...I think..." she mutters, somewhat unsteadily. "He's going to come. He...the other one. I mean, one of the other ones. But...last time...what if...if they think we're dead...if he thinks we're dead. What if they all come here now...or...maybe they ended up fighting...they were both so angry..."
She trails off, her gaze still not moving from its current target. Despite this, her whole body seems to slump somehow, as though some part of her has given up. It's almost as though she is no longer aware (assuming she was in the first place) of what's going on around her. Whatever thoughts are passing through her mind remain a mystery.

Haynuus was both next to the paranoid halfling and the dead gnome - ready to give him a good slapping with his sword. It was Ameena who kept indicating that he might come back, yet he hadn't had the time or the inclination to talk to her yet. He was just so sad at the loss of their friends.
He glanced down to her. She looked so sad, with whiskers pointing down and her eyes betraying her thoughts that were so far away. It was as if she'd given up hope. "let's get out of here first, get our friends back, then we can get out of here" he said to her. He wanted to know more, but there was no time.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Falkor's fireball again flew at the helpless grak-grak now perfectly illuminated by the blue hazes. Perhaps it was the better light, but the fireball - despite being a lesser casting - seemed to smash with a satisfying solid thump into the creature. Sadly, the thing still looked mostly intact, a completely different reaction than its creature had to a fireball.
The scorpion, meawhile, did not seem too impressed with the mage's words. It was not clear exactly how much it had understood, but its own snarls seemed to indicate it did not trust a 'fire-thrower'. Given the fact it had lost a limb and stinger to Seeroc, that might be understandable. Then again, Falkor was speaking with authority and in scorpion... and the scropion had not issued any warning clicks nor flexed its claw...
Money, the words were good, but the scorpion is in an understandable position - especially since its so wounded. If you want to have one last try, then roll me a diplomacy/bluff/intimidation roll next round and try agaian - with the appropriate words to back it up, of course.
If you are lucky, and the grak-graks stay frozen...it might be pursuaded...
Maybe...
Speaking of the gnome mage, Haynuus decided - literally - to take matters into his own hads. While Falkor was having understandable doubts about the appearance of the murafu, and imaginative leaps in what the story could be behind her reappearance, Haynuus went straight for the heart of the matter. Either they put the mage onto the table, or they didn't (perhaps having to stop Ameena doing it.)
Haynuus decided on the former, and unceremoniously plonked the diminuative mage onto the table.
A few pages and odds and sods fell of the table - nothing exceiting, but one of the scraps of clothe on the table fell to reveal a VI symbol caved on one side.
There was a sudden swirling of lights around the mage's form, followed by increasing brighter blue explosions of magic.
zap zap Zap ZAP ZAP!
BOOM!
With a final explosion of light and sound, the little mage jerked upright.
"-at!" he said, blinking. He looked around in confusion, clutching his chest. He then seemed to look around, regarding in turn the various characters around him, those no longer standing ,and then his eyes seemed to defocus for a moment.
"Ah, I see. Well, this is most unexpected and interesting." He looked back, darting looks between Haynuus, Falkor and Ameena expectantly.
Haynuus and Ameena are well placed to not be in the blast of the blue magical box if Falkor wants to use it next round. Of course, money, you could decide to ready the blue box, with a trigger of someone moving - so providing Seeroc doens't do anything, that would ensure it triggers on the grak-grak's return to life instead when it happens.
Anyway, I might give a brief update tomorrow depending on my own work timeframe, and
Sorry Seeroc coming back to life isn't a brilliant cliffhanger for the weekend, but it might be all I've got!
And a map - I have a map:

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Falkor wasted no time, this was a powerfull wizard, the last thing they needed right now was a powerfull wizard who could turn him into Grak Grak fodder.. still, if he got the Rat first it would perhaps be sweet justice! In any event it was clear to him what needed to happen. He drew out the blue box and quickly called upon it's powers. He was saddened inside as he really wanted to keep this in case they had got in a tricky situation, Ameena, or the Ameena lookalike, had made sure that had come sooner rather than later.
With a woosh once more silence fell....
"Haynuus, get him into the blue haze - perhaps the Grak Graks will take revenge for being trapped and left to fend for themselves" It was a long shot, but they really needed this to work.
"Scorpian, I realise you do not trust us, but I will not harm you and I give you my word that weather you choose to help or not no harm will come to you by way of me or my friends, but if you can, please, please help with that monster there before he comes back to life, as I cannot extend my protection to you from that monster" He was pointing at the Grak Grak... he just hoped that at last his words would work (1d20 = 4)
Finally he turned to Ameena, looking directly at the Rat, "Why... Why did you do this?"
