Ok, I took the 1.5 ranks in bluff, plus the Persuasive feat. Westian is going to check up on the urgent wound so anyone in the party, and then get some sleep. Unless someone is talking to him of course.

@Ameena: Natural healing is a full night's rest, and restores your character level of hit points. Just because you've decided your race sleeps in short naps over the day doesn't mean they get a mutant healing factor. Its still a decent amount of rest (not necessarily sleep) at the end of the day.

Westian's abilities with healing magic mean he can reliably heal all your injuries in @ the first hour of rest.

Keep chatting this week, if you all decide to catch some zzzs I'll fast forward ther narrative at the start of next week. Soorec is likely to leave you guys alone to sleep, since there doens't appear to be anything time critical happening. Well, not for him, anyway.

Still, while it seems like five months of busiy work for you guys, remember to your characters what's actually happened is you fought the mummy, had a decent rest, walked a short distance with some soldiers, fought them, had a short rest, walked a short distance, met Soorec, walked a short distance, got into two little fights. So yeah, you can haver a short rest, but to your characters you haven't had anything like a full day since the mummy sleep!

Anyway, it's very DM like behaviour, and there's certainly a narrative reason for you guys to be on a faster resting cycle, just wanted to point out the actual game time :)

I will do a clock at some point... I think your soldier rest was @45 minutes, otherwise you've probably only spent an hour walking around and chatting!

Oh, and if you guys do have any sort of rest in the end, then Westian can heal all your injuries and you guys can all go to full hit points again. Except Haynuus, he'll still have that one constitution point reduction. Unless he tries to use the stronger healing potion. IF it's strong enough, it might erase it. Maybe...

Well, everyone else met Soorec and had a few short walks and stuff. Ameena followed a slightly different chain of events that involved quite a bit more running and sneaking and...various other encounters with stress-inducing individuals whigh might have affected her physical/mental stress levels just a bit ;). But she sleeps more often than everyone else anyway so would probably be getting sort of tired soon anyway, if various things hadn't happened which go beyond her normal experience as a murafu ;). Anyway...when this discussion with Westian is done (and she gets a heal), I expect she'll finally decide it's okay to conk out for a bit ;).

Forgot about the time, happy to move on as soon as we are healed! I did not know when I get my spells back, or how many empty flasks we have. Anyone?

Well, Ameena just gave you two more potions which you identified as being healing potions, and if you're checking out this thread before the IC one, go there next - she's given you some more stuff too now (as well as more info she's remembered).

Hi all, I'm afraid I'm falling behind although surprisingly it's due to work. I have read some IC posts, and aim to catch up with the others tomorrow. Please feel free to progress the story dragging Falkor along - you know the type of charactor and thoughts he has had, these would (although helped by the memories), would still remain part of his consioucness...

Sorry again, hopefully IC post tomorrow :)

It's okay, we're not doing very much at the moment - Haynuus is dozing (I think) on the floor, while Ameena and Westy are talking about what they remember and stuff. LB hasn't been around either so Aurek's not done much - Ameena will want to talk to him at some point as well but due to LB's absence I've just concentrated her on talking to Westy for now.

My internet is down at home, so carry on discussing things OOC and IC and getting everyone caught up and clear! Hopefully things get sorted sooner rather than later, plan is still to not re-introduce Soorec until next week unless you guys really feel caught up!

Oh, and LB hasn't been in contact, so eventhough he said to not put his character in the background, it's unfair you you guys to not do exactly that. Assume Aurek is kinda there but not there - don't address questions or hanging concerns to him except generally. Thoguh feel free to nick the potion thta Farel gave back to the group.

Oh, and to re-iterate the spell recharge, in combat and stressful situations it's @5 minutes (ie you get one lot of spells since a combat round is six seconds, and if for some reason it tails off into a chase, etc, I might give you your wisdom/intelligence bonus worth of spells back), and out of combat it's 5 minutes for stressful chases, etc, and closer to 15 for resting or meandering.

So basically Westian did get back all his healing, and can keep healing you guys since there's no real time pressure. Falkor could also cast a few FUL light spells and still practise a few poison clouds.

I was just looking at the character sheets and OB, you don't seem to have updated yours yet to reflect the potions/flasks Ameena has given Westy, while I've already removed them from my list. At least, you haven't updated it in the thread - if you have a private copy of your sheet somewhere that you have been updating, then never mind ;). But just as a reminder, Ameena has handed over the two potions she found on the floor in Soorec's room (which Westy has since identified as healing potions), and two empty flasks, one of which was the one Helm was given when he left the group (though back then it had a healing potion in it ;)). I think Haynuus also handed over those three weird brown potions. Well, we certainly have plenty of flasks now, even if several of them already have stuff in :D. Maybe Ameena should try her hand at Priesting at some point and try to become a bit of a healer herself - that's about the only kind of magic murafu tend to use though murafu magic-users are relatively uncommon within the species.

@Ameena about healing: Remember, it doesn't matter how much healing each potion does. You guys will have full hit points, Westian is getting to cast as many potions as required. IF it would take Westian four goes through to heal you guys, you guys get left alone for an hour at least.

In general for next time, each SPELL level of the potion does 1d6 healing. Westian's potions also do 1d6 extra healing because of on of his ability things.

So the UM VI potions does 2d6+1d6 healing from Westian, other UM VI potions would just do 2d6.

Cool. Does anyone else have any flasks/potions then? I thought you already had some apart from those you've acquired since being in Soorec's lab, and had assumed they'd be in Westian's possession (for some reason...maybe just 'cause he's the healer)...evidently not, hehe.
I wonder what that brown stuff is. Maybe try another Arcana(?) check on it later to see if you get a better result at identifying it or something. I don't think Ameena has any relevant skills. Appraise is no good is it? I think that's just for telling the value of stuff...or something.

As I already said, Helm got one that Ameena then had, and Farel had one that he gave back to Aurek. You guys haven't actually picked up that many flasks! You can't brute force knowledge checks, they aren't 'yeah, your character just was punching himself in the face that time, try again' it's 'your character has never encountered this'. Middling answers or certain items I might allow checks when you have more levels (because more memories) but usually it's a pass or fail.

Appraise has expanded to identify magical items - really you need to combine knowledge (arcana) and appraise to quickly deduce magical items. Sop you and Falkor should team up more often (although I don't think you put many points in appraise either).

Potions are priest magic, so knowledge (religion) and nature as used by Haynuus/Westian were the right skills as used.

No net last night, might be fixed tonight (fingers crossed that was the standard fix) though might be as late as Monday/Tuesday :(

Soorec will reappear once I reappear, though you will still have a few days to then interrogate the mage before we move onwards.

Just to make it simple, when you guys are resting you will all get a little bit of a dream/. Instead of PMing them, I will temporarily add the dialogue into the end of your character sheets, and once those four have finished, I'll post them across to the main thread. Taht will mean you don't have to wade through each other's stories, but they will be available to view if you wanna see what's going on.

Anyway, that's next week - have a good weekend and speak to you guys propely next weekend!

I hope the slightly lesser posting give you a chance to catch up, money!

Yeah, my Appraise isnt' great - only +4 to checks as it stands (3 ranks + Int mod). Still, that's better than, say, my Intimidate with its grand bonus of zero, lol :D.
I hope Money and LB can get back to posting properly - RL issues getting in the way right now, I'm guessing? Because Ameena wouldn't mind a bit of a chat with Aurek at some point...

There we go, a little individual set of things to react to if you like. Might go in parallel with the main action depending onthe start of next week. No one is having PM dreams just now, it's all in the open - feel free to check out each other's threads or not. Ameena still has access to her private forum, but aside from minor clarifications nothing happenign there.

Like I said, for the next little bit I'll throw in more transparency jsut as a change of pace, and to ensure everyone can get therir brains clear on the various plots, etc :D

And as said, these divergent little 'dream' asides can be merged back into the main thread next week so you get your character threads back to yourself again.

I'm not gonna read the other characters' dream thingys - if it's an IC thing then I'll find out IC what happens, if the other characters decide to share their experiences.
As for the Intimidate thing, I'm not even entirely sure just how a murafu can be intimidating...unless she were to demonstrate that she knows how to use that knife of hers, or something, and imply that she'd be happy to use it on someone's throat if they weren't careful (or whatever). Not that she ever would make any kind of threat, of course, but it's possible to be intimidating without actually being all big and scary and all that - I'll leave that part to Haynuus, if he can find time between investigating the contents of his ears or whatever ;).

Intimidation is basically forcing someone to do somethign they don't want to do, in a way that gets its done but they'll resent you for it later.

So it could be emotional blackmail really (not that I've ever seen it used that way, but it's a possibly edge interpretation of the fear mechanic)

So say Soorec sends a guards with you somewhere, and insists the guard returns you with your seer's mind still intact. If you 'threatened' that some situation was making you go crazy and you'll go craxy unless they stop it (nmot making a passive bluff this is happening, but actually demannding they fix it or else) that could be intimidation just as much as any other kind :D

Well, if the claim was false, then that would be a Bluff check, I think, since...well, it's a bluff. Intimidate is a more...forceful version of Persuade. Except we don't have Persuade in this game. Errrm...Diplomacy, I suppose, is the "nice" version. I suppose an Intimidate check could be saying something like "Ooh look, I have this knife here, and it's very sharp, don't you think? And with all that's been going on, I think I may be a bit...shaky. I might accidentally slip and do you some kind of horrible injury. Unless, of course, you happen to decide to do what I say - that might make me feel a bit better. What do you say?". Which is why Ameena has that skill so low, lol - she just wouldn't do that. I think I only put a skill point into it because the stat-mod she gets is -1 and I didn't want any of my skills to be in negative figures ;).

Yes, the threat has to be something that would actually happen, of course, otherwise it would be a bluff :)

Bluff is one end - tell people what they want to hear to make them do what you want
Diplomacy is the midle ground - promise to do something so they will do what you want
Intimidate is the other side - threaten or force someone to do what you want

Basically, you have it right-ish, Intimidation doens't need to be physical force, it can just be a force of personality. For example, a boss who comes in and says 'right you, you have to work tonight' and walks out. If his 'intimidation' works you'd do it cause you are afraid of not - even though your boss hasn't actually threatened anything. It's justhis brand of forcefulness works. Except without promising you something in return (even if it's false) you' are unlikely to be happy about it :D

Yeah...then again, I suppose you could bluff that you're a hardened killer and have some kind of horrible weapon of doom hidden in your coat, which you'll happily use if they don't do what you want. That's sort of intimidation, but then again you're talking bollocks so would it still be a Bluff roll. Hmmm...well, I suppose it depends on the situation and stuff.

It would be intimidation, it's a fear effect. Note 5 ranks of bluff gives you a +2 bonus to intimidation and diplomacy exactly to reflect how lying and good body language skills can affect these other social intereactions!

Ahh. Does putting five ranks in Diplomacy affect the other two skills then? Or is it a one-way thing? 'Cause my Diplomacy's at about 9 or something now.
