record in which way? to video? I use camtasia for that. Or if you want to capture the content of a window as well as hidden tags etc for the purpose of scripting and automating tasks in windows then you can use Autoit
camtasia ($300 for PC license, or $100 for mac license)
http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp
autoit (free)
http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/index.shtml
Camtasia costs money, but Sandie uses something called BB flashback which is similar and has a free version "express"

Something has just reminded me the funniest Windows error message ever:
Keyboard not found. Press any key to continue.

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
anyone else excited about CS5 of photoshop or the other adobe products? keep looking at the new videos and repeatedly blown away, photoshop content aware and new brush systems as well as it's multitouch(mainly accessable to macbook air users right now) is all very cool. The Flash export to Iphone app is great as there are a lot of small time game developers who are looking for places to put their games and producing a 2D or even 3D game inside of flash is easier than working from scratch.. and to have it just export an work on an Iphone.. something that so many people seem to have these days.. thats a huge potential market just been barely tapped right now.. but growing quickly. Any video editors will be happy with the new render engine inside premier (and probably aftereffects too) which allows for better playback of edits without having to render the scenes and wait... but wait.. here's after effects stuff.. if the other videos hadn't already gotten you drooling (if you haven't seen them yet, go to youtube and look) this will make you drool.. or drool more!

I'm very excited..

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
You're already out of date
Apple are banning Flash -> Iphone as a programming option, and it's got a lot of people very angry:
http://daringfireball.net/2010/04/iphon ... h_compiler
http://mashable.com/2010/04/08/apple-ad ... -compiler/
I don't know why people are so obsessed with the iPhone anyway, it's not that great.
I agree about CS5 though -- finally worth an upgrade (I'm still on CS1!) -- though with the price in the UK being almost equal to the US dollar price, we're being effin' ripped off by Adobe yet again.

dude.. that was fast!! the video was for the upcoming Flash CS5 which is not yet released.. and now after a quick look I see that Adobe appears to be on the road to suing Apple over this issue.

oh and Gambit, I'm not sure how it works in the UK, but you can take a cheap course that has enough credit hrs to it (8 weeks for example/ 1 day per week for 3 hrs) is enough to get educational licensing. Which is about 1/4 the price.

CS5?!? We currently have terrible trouble at work updating to InDesign CS4... I'd rather not think about what will happen with CS5.

Yesterday I posted a link to a development tool.
Today I thought about a missing feature - doesn't matter what now.
I didn't find a forum, but a 'feature-request'-list.
With 1155 entries!
Sometimes I love it to be very unknown...

I'll be off to Mallorca for a week, so don't expect anything from me in the following days. And don't seize the opportunity to ban me yet again.

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
Go Lena!
I actually predicted 18th place for her because I don't really like the song, so I'm quite surprised at the result. Though I don't really care about the Grand Prix - sorry, the Eurovision Song Contest -, it's sort of nice to win this thing once every 30 years.
Oh, and Mallorca was great, too - better than that Eurodance song for sure.

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
Just going back to the CS5 discussion a bit higher up, I finally have it
I got a really sweet deal in the end:
I had PhotoShop CS1 and Illustrator CS1 as separate products. But because they are pretty old, there was no upgrade path. So I looked around and figured that the best new package for me would be CS5 Web Premium. However, this is around £1600 ($2310 USD), a huge sum that I couldn't afford.
But I found a really sweet deal. Some Adobe resellers were selling the older version of CS4 Web Standard for around £850 -- but Web Standard doesn't include PhotoShop or Illustrator, the main packages that I actually wanted. (Buying Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5 as stand alone packages is around £600 *EACH*, so £1200 just for two programs!!!)
Anyway, there's a little known special deal on that if you buy CS4 Web Standard between April and July this year, you can get a FREE UPGRADE to CS5 Web Premium!!! This is because Adobe have not made a CS5 Web Standard package, they only have CS5 Web Premium, and they have to offer an upgrade path for old CS4 Web Standard users.
I went through this process and I'm now the proud owner of CS5 Web Premium -- for half the standard retail price
This basically means I've gotten Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat for free.

I haven't had much chance to use any of it yet, and it's a bit annoying getting used to the new interface, but in time I hope it will help me do all my creative stuff a lot more quickly
For once, I'm actually happy with Adobe's pricing model!!!

Cool thing Gambit. I'm mostly happy with InDesign CS4, though the improvements over CS3 are small for my needs.
Summer is finally here, we had 25°C last weekend and are looking at 30°C+ in the following days. It's about time.

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
Please have some of our heiß, Trantor. Already a little too hot here

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
Yeah, it's getting really hot here too. I don't like it.... although... this year we have a new colleague in our office, a pretty young girl, so the hot days probably won't be that unbearable as last year.
EDIT: To avoid any misunderstanding: I meant visually less unbearable...

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
Schland! Schland! To my great surprise, Germany is the first team with a really convincing first game. Gogogo!

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
I'm not interested in soccer but i happened to have seen some of the teams and Germany is displaying a solid and well thought game.
Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
I really enjoyed the German game! It was the first really nice and enjoyable match in this championship! Well organised and simply perfect game. On the other hand, the referee made some huge mistakes - especially this red card for one of the Australians was horrible in my opinion. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to watching Germany meeting some of the stronger teams, like Brasil. Fingers crossed, Trant!

Yes, Germany looked good. It could be their year - first the Eurovision and now the World Cup.

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
Whee, Germany vs. England again. The German strategy is clear - defend 120 minutes and let the English keeper do the rest.
Nah, seriously, I'm looking forward to the classic. Let's hope both teams can do more than they showed so far (with the exception of Germany's first game).

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
Hmm, I'm scottish, and yet one of my sweepstake teams is germany. I'm now torn on which I want more - Germany to win, or england to lose

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread
English performance has been terrible so far - so I think Germany will win (well, not that German performance was too much better except the first match... but Özil is Özil).
So far, I've enjoyed mostly the football of South American teams (like Argentine). From Europeans, I quite liked the Dutch yesterday.
I'm looking forward to watching Portugal - Brasil today. I hope I'll kind of "improve my taste".
