DSB on MacBook Pro (via VirtualBox running Windows 7)

Post by Mac Addict »

Hi,

Just wanted to let Sofia know that the mouse pointer does not seem to work well on a MacBook Pro running Windows7 via VirtualBox. I can make the pointer move with the mouse, but it doesn't follow my motions at all. I can't even get the pointer to the "Enter" dungeon button :(

Oh well, guess I'll have to wait. Was looking forward to seeing what all this talk about DSB is.

What do you mean "doesn't follow your motions"?
Is the movement too choppy? Too slow? The movement on the screen doesn't match the way you move the mouse?
Maybe it's something in the way I process input, that I can fix...

If you have Wine, Darwine, Parallels, or some other Windows API emulation package, I'm told DSB runs pretty well in those. I personally don't (I haven't tried to get Windows emulation working on my mac at all) but it might be worth a shot. :)

Hmm, how do I describe it? First I'll move my mouse, and the arrow doesn't move at all. Then I move it a bit more and the arrow goes flying really fast all the way to edge of the screen. If I move my mouse in really really slow direction, the arrow sort of follows my hand gestures but not in a straight line, it almost circles and curves a bit.

PS: Sorry I keep spelling your screen name wrong.

Sounds like "lag". Are you sure your machine is powerful enough to virtualise Windows 7? It's a bit of a beast even on real hardware, I assume the hardware requirements will increase significantly under virtualisation?
