OOC will save... Modifiers? (1d20=17)

Haynuus could see few possibilities to get out of this one. He COULD go back through the cavern and take a crossbow bolt in the ass for his pleasure. He COULD charge the trolin in their confined space, enabling him to take out one at a time. Or he could just wait, let the invisible/visible undead things attack him and then the trolin would shoot at him too. Actually that last idea was the least suicidal of the lot. He drew his falchion and kissed the cold metal blade. He swore once more under his breath - how he hated trolins.

"Cooo-eeeyyyy!" he shouted in common. "There are eight trolin here waiting to kiss youuuuu!"

His plan was awesomely simple, and one that had served him well with his brutish orcish cousins before. Stand at the front and be bold. Shout. Throw faeces at your enemies. Then take their charge and attempt to deflect their attacks (readied action). This is where his 'plan' comes home. After each attack, swing or chop take a step back. Eventually his bezerking brethren won't have noticed that he'd positioned himself at the back once more, albeit with a few cuts and bruises. If he could position himself at the entrance to the crack, he'd neither get over-run, and could steadily retreat. Hopefully the Trolin 'lose it' and lend a helping hand.

For a moment, to Ameena, the figure attacking Westian was not a hideous undead. Instead, it suddenly seemed almost familiar. A plain looking human... then the vision faded, and the undead looked hideous and normal again. It perhaps had something to do with Ameena hearing out of the corner of her ear Haynuus bellowing something about eight Trolins waiting to kiss her.

Meanwhile, Haynuus looked and sounded impressive, because 'coo-eeey' was quite close to a Trolin dialect word that was very rude and aggressive. To be fair, of course, most base sounds could be said to be close to Trolin dialect words. And most Trolin words were rude and aggressive.

As Haynuus came up with his brilliant plan, his odd flights of fancy to do with him being anything liek these brutish thugs seemed to disappear from the odd place it came. After all, he could come up with brilliant plans to fool the Trolins, he was not actually about to hurt anyone, and he was about to - hopefully - ensure everyone was concentrating on each other so he could go and heroically rescue the fallen paladin.

Oddly, that last thought drew a laugh for some reason, from some part of his brain he didn't know existed.

Your will save modifier is actually +3, meaning Haynuus hiots a 20. Not too shabby. Lol, just because it's fun to make you rolllow again, Iain, roll me one last bluff check for your non-violent defensive stance :D I'll update with the attack tomorrow,

I just wanted to bring everyone up to the same moment of action - since we'll probably start tracking initiative again. Sorry guys! Can you all roll it for me?

OOC - one last bluff check for your non-violent defensive stance (1d20-2=7)
initiative (1d20=19)

With his mind playing tricks on him, Haynuus pursed his lips and... Waited for something to happen.

"Cooeeyy?" he said while exhaling. Somehow he knew that he was never going to get along with Trolins. Mind you, they never seemed to get along with each other either, judging from the commotion emanating from the crack in the wall behind him. If something didn't happen soon that heated discussion between the trolins would leave just him and the one with the crossbow pointed at his buttocks... And she had now started picking her nose.

Westian felt frustration that this thing would not give up. The blow connected painfully, sending the him reeling backwards. The cleric's anger was translated into a tirade that was quite forceful by his own standards. "Larethian damn you, damn you to hell!"

His instinct was to the hit back. His shield held in front he lifted his sword up above his head and brought it down and forwards with speed.

Attack was 11 + 6 = 17, damage was 4 + 2 = 6. Don't know AC so not sure if I connected or not.

Hey OB, remember to roll me initiative and a will save, please (or point me to them if I missed them :D

Up above, Haynuus's slightly desperate actions drew attention.

"It's a trick! Some kind of trick! I'm not going out there!" said one of the Trolin deepest in the crack.

The largest Trolin smashed his wickedly complex club into the face of his fellow at the implied cowardice. The other club-wielding Trolin gurgled a laugh. The large Trolin then stomped forwards, standing shoulder to shoulder with Haynuus. "Eight Trolins?" he grunted in passable common, "something is not right with you! I do not trust you!"

Still, the potential unpleasant and embarrassing need for Haynuus to bluff more was ended when finally three ugly, blubbery undead suddenly swung down into view. They hooted in glee at getting to fight warm, living creatures.

The large Trolin seemed to forget everything, apparently happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with the half-orc. Of course, the half-orc had other ideas. While the Trolin leader swung his club warningly, having come to the party late, Haynuus had already began skillfully moving his falchion in a demonstration of great orcish blocking techniques.

It was therefore a little galling that the large Trolin seemed to be able to stay out of the reach of the two foul things that wanted to get in each other's way to kill him, while Haynuus was caught a fairly convincing blow on his elbow by the third creature that took an interest in the previously bellowing half-orc.

Still, Haynuus had the last laugh, taking a step back to ensure the lead Trolin would be very much on his own.

You can't ready a full-round action like total defense I'm afraid, but you can delay your action. I figured that was the more preferably option, as it would let you create a space that a Trolin could fill next round! Anyway, Haynuus takes 6 hit points damage from the undead this turn.

The other Trolins had already started moving - or at least those not cradling broken noses. The gurgling laugher raced to aid his leader, swinging a club with a recklace blow that at least missed his leader, though missed the creatures too.

The female crossbow wielder moved in a half crouch diagnoally across, apparently using Haynuus as cover to get in a good position. "Move, snark-grag! she said, unwittingly giving Haynuus the excuse for his 'subtle' move backwards. She unleashed a bolt with perfect marksmanship, and it plugged one of the two eye sockets of the hooting thing that had smacked Haynuus.

The male crossbow wielder realised what his fellow was up to, and snarled as he followed suit. "What are you doing?", he barked at her, but took up a similar position. Despite having to shoot over Haynuus's shoulder, the second crossbow bolt was shot into the opposing eye socket of the creature with equally impressive skill. While it was certainly an interesting look, sadly it did not seem to imped nor irritate the creature.

Meanwhile, down on the ground Westian and Ameena faced off against their own persistant foe. The creature had odd, jittery movements as it tried to figure out the best way to attack Westian. Ameena's knife couldn't, despite her skill, find the undead creature's flesh because of it.

Meanwhile, the cleric's sudden rage was a different matter. Despite not meaning it as a prayer, Westian felt something powerful shiver in his arm as he struck the unnatural flesh of the undead foe. Something powerful and satisfying.

However, it also felt very wrong. There was a moment's silence, as if everything that had both plagued and helped Westian held its breath, shocked and uncertain at Westian's wrath.

I'm going to force Westian to lose a 0-level effect, but give him 1 more damage to his damage roll (yup, you scored a hit!). Whether this is a good or a bad thing, I'll leave for you and Westian to work out!

The creature gave a fog-horn like utterance at the blow, even though it did not damage the things rubber skin too greatly. It seemed to realise what Ameena had just done, and flicked a powerful arm sideways as if to swat her away.

It worked too - Ameena was caught a ringing blow to the side of her head by the edge of the thing's hand, sending her staggering backwards. The creature then moved sideways, as if unsure of how to deal with the cleric - the cleric that had both pushed it backwards and even somehow burned it with his faith and anger. The creatures arm began to slowly weep water, and there was the tang of salt in the air underneath the stench of watery death.

And Ameena takes 10 hit points because undead creatures are evil. I have a funny feeling Westian might become more of a distraction from now on!

Ameena sways on her feet, almost knocked over completely by the sudden blow she's taken. Her tail, fortunately, does what it does best and swings about wildly in order to help her balance. She shakes her head in order to clear it, and things quickly come back into focus, though she's now that little bit more uncomfortable, having a headache to add to her mix of current unpleasantries.
She moves around carefully, trying to get behind the creature in order to try and strike it and (hopefully) be less at risk herself.

OOC - If the undead thingy has now moved in a direction away from Ameena, I presume this means she's now free to move without attracting an AoO since she's no longer adjacent to it. If this is the case, she'll move to flank. If not, she'll just Shift (move one square) to get further around the creature in order to flank it...err, eventually ;).
Attack roll = woot! Crit! :D So...er...3 damage, then, lol. damn, I wish I could BS these fuckers :P.

Haynuus gaped in awe at the sight of the undead fiend with two crossbow bolts sticking out of its eye sockets. It could have been his own ass, but instead the trolins had created a beautiful weeping voodoo doll. Water was gushing out of it's eyes as if it were a thousand crocodile tears and fortunately for him his mind wouldn't be digesting the significance of this sight right now. His sanity, what there was left of it, remained tightly tethered to the tiny mast of logical reasoning that Haynuus possessed.

"Snark-grag needs to go to the toilet." he said to the large trolin by his side. Haynuus knew that sarcasm were an abstract idea to the trolins. He diagonally attacked the undead closest to the leader (U3) (1d20+10=11, 2d4+6=12, 1d20+5=25, 2d4+6=10) and then took another defensive step straight backwards from the voodoo doll (U4). Unfortunately the big trolin was too fidgety and was constantly changing his weight from one foot to the next. He nearly struck the leader with his first attempt but had ample room to swing and make contact the second time.

OOC - Disregard the second attack if he can't take a step back as well.

You can still take a five foot step and launch a fullround attack. Do you want to fight defensively, with a -4 to hit penalty for a +2AC bonus? Or was the defensive step narrative only?

And awww, poor Ameena. Yeah, being small and a rogue doesn't combine well. Even a small short sword would only do 1d4. Still, you're giving Westian a better hit chance, and narratively giving him support in his time of getting angry at undead. I still need the will save to know if it is, really, a bad thing or not to have righteous anger right now :D

Westian felt that his words had been noticed. The feeling initially was odd, in stark contrast to the calmness that would follow an answered petition. This did not remove the anger he felt, and the sight of the creature attacking his friend only served to make him worse. He had lost one friend already, perhaps more, and he was not about to allow any of the damned to take another one.

“Get away from her!” he shouted as he swung once more.

Attack roll was 16 + 6 + 2 = 24. Damage was 5 + 2 = 7.

On the upper ledge, the battle was heating up. The Trolin leader and his fellow Trolin laid powerful blows to the undead creature they surrounded. With a mix of skill and surprisingly agile weapons the undead creature was torn apart by twin blows. The creature at least lashed out, catching the Trolin leader a nasty scar on his face and forcing him to stagger a little.

Haynuus was temporarily stopped from his perfect blow by the irritating Trolin leader showing off with a twirling club-thing, but turned a stymied blow into a perfect work of art himself, and sheared off the thing's leg. It didn't actually seem to do too much for the creature's agility, sadly, but there was quite a gush of water flowing. It was certainly a little bit wobbly now, even accounting for the lack of balance.

As Haynuus moved backwards though, one of the Trolins screamed "Get back to the fighting!. It was the male crossbow wielder, and was pointing his hastily reloaded crossbow directly at Haynuus. The female crossbowman seemed to snarl at the distraction, and was more invested in stalking aroudn the wall while loading her own bow. She could not move far, as the crossbow seemed complicated. Still, a third bolt soon extended from the back of the already perforated undead's head. It, too, seemed wobbly.

The Trolin leader had perhaps expected Haynuus to be guarding his flank. Sudden';y having two undead attack him was a bit startling. Luckily for him, the two got into each other's way. Still, a powerful blow was struck, slicing the leader across his chest. The Trolin began bleeding freely, and looked tottering himself.

Back on the ground, Westian and Ameena didn't seem to notice the toppling draining body of one of the undead as it slammed onto the shoreline and oozes water and fluids back into the lake.

Ameena tried to get into position to aid Westian, but had to settle for the distraction of slicing a perfect line across the back leg of the creature. Water flowed freely, and the creature howled.

Westian was perfectly placed to step sideways and turn his anger into tempered fury, excecuting a precise blow that struck across the thing's chest. Somehow it felt right, and all his strange feelings clicked back into their proper and reserved place. It was as if the world were breasthign easily again. The creature tried to hoot, but that turned to gugrling as water flowed from its mouth and chest. However, its arms and legs still looked as bloated and powerful as before.

Or at least, that was how they appeared to Westian. However, to Ameena, she looked at the strange creature and suddenly had her blood chilled. The creature was not unrecogniseable. The creature was Westian! Somehow, they had all been fooled! Westian must have perished when he fell, and turned into an undead. The black-armoured figure wasn't Westian, it was another trick. Just like that other strange black-clad soldier that everyone seemed to assume was friendly must have been a trick. Infact, wasn't that who was attacking poor undead Westian rigfht now? How could they have been so blind!

And then even worse - Ameena realised that behind her back, the greenery here had been dying, and the water level rising, the ceilings lowering. She was being trapped, with no way out! And above her head, she then heard a scream. Haynuus's scream. Hadn't she seen a body fall? Was Haynuus dead? Timign was so hard to concentrate on!

The lesson here is: Never fail a will save. Or at least, don't fail one if a certain enemy priest has started getting into your brain. I wonder how he found any levers to do that? 0.o :D So yeah, Ameena will now be thinking that Westian is undead and infront of her, Aurek is alive, and attacking undead Westian (but not in a good way) and Haynuus might well be dead. Luckily, this is like being in a dream, so Ameena is free to react with OOC emotions since her buttons are gettign pressed in odd way. Or she can just panic. Either way, it's weirdness abounding!

If something very strange happens to try and break the illusion, then Ameena can have another will save. If Westian knows what is going on, and can attempt a prayer as a standard action, he can also trigger another will save for Ameena. Westian can use as many 0-level effects as he likes at one time to try and create a stack of +1 bonues to such a will save.

Don't forget the annoying undead :p

ImageImage

Oh, Ameena couldn'#t quite get aroudn the creature without drawing an AoO, but Westian could 5-foot step to gain the flank, and so I assumed that had happened - yell if that needs corrected. And yes, 20 did indeed save Westian from bad things. Pity about Ameena's 13 really!

OOC - Well, I don't expect either of us will complain about now being in flanking positions of the mutant undead water-baby-beast ;). Meanwhile...arrgh, lol, you're messing with my poor murafu's head yet again! I could probably have done with that crit on the Will Save instead of the attack, eh? ;)

BIC - Ameena stops, staring in shock at the two creatures in front of her. Westian...is the undead thing? But then...that means that, in a way, he isn't. Because he's dead. His spirit will have fled by now, or so she hopes, remembering the things she's seen in this place so far. So this is only his body. And the black-armoured human soldier is attacking him...it. But...isn't that good?
No, wait...
She suddenly remembers all the times she's heard mention of souls in relation to armour - maybe this soldier has caught Westian's soul, and put it inside his armour...or maybe that's what he's trying to do now! Maybe Westian's body is dead, but his spirit is still there, and the soldier is trying to take it from him!
And...that scream - is Haynuus dead too? Has she lost all her friends? Maybe something terrible has happened to Falkor as well - he did just disappear, after all, and leave no sign or trail they might detect. So...that would mean, then, that it's just her. She's alone in this place, with all its horrible creatures and things trying to kill her. And there are no other murafu, not that she's seen, and she hasn't seen the sun, or felt the wind or the rain, in so long...
Suddenly with no idea of what to do, she steps back, away from the two fighting...creatures...and just stares around her, eyes wide with fright. Is this it, then? Her time to die, and all alone, as no murafu should be?

OOC - So that's a one-square step backward, away from Westian and the undead widget. If Mr Holy Righteous Wrath can do his prayer thingy and sort Ameena's head out (or rather, get her to sort it out herself by means of passing a Will Save), naturally I'm sure she'll be back in the fight.
You realise she is gonna want even more hugs after this though, right? ;)

Sensing he had the advantage Westian pushed forward. He went shield-first into the monster to push him back, and then brought his sword down over the top, connecting with the creatures head.

Seeing Ameena fall back he assumed that the battle and the sight of the undead was getting too much for her. "Are you okay Ameena?" he shouted in her direction.

Attack was 19 + 6 = 25, damage was 7 + 2 = 9.

OOC - Balls. Had started to write this up at work and got distracted. Will be the shortened version.

While Haynuus was never really concerned with the well-being of trolins, he certainly had reservations for his own state of health. He could see that his exit down the crack was not clear, that they were treating him with almost as much disrespect as the undead, and he had to keep playing along... With his falchion. The half-orc took a diagonal step between the two trolins with the crossbows but within swinging distance of the gnarly looking undead (U4). He attacked this one, making every effort to finish it off (1d20+10=21, 2d4+6=13, 1d20+5=16, 2d4+6=11), and improve his own chances of survival. It was not good to be seen as weak amongst these brutes.

Even as Ameena started to succumb to the strange delusions enforced upon her, Westian's might blow was powerfully struck. Water poured from the split head of the thing, and its limbs flailed as if it could not see. In reaction to the push and stab, the creature simply tried to crush Westian - or more importantly, Westian's blade that had inflicted so much grevious damage.

Good news! Its going for the disarm! That means you get to make an AoO against it. Since it will affect your next round's move, if you score an attack of 15 or greater, and do damage of 3 or more (wait, just realised that's your minimum, nm) the thing will be dead, and you can use your full move action. If not, then you need to roll an opposed attack roll, and beat a...wow, beat a whole 8 (sucks to attack with a 'light' weapon of fists, but it's not thinking straight anymore :D ) or else you lose your sword.

So AoO of 15 or greater, undead dead, you get your full round's worth of actions free and clear. Miss, but beat an opposed roll of 8, no change and you have a barely together undead and barely together murafu to deal with (but have full actions). Miss, and fail to beat an 8 - your sword gets knocked to the ground, you still have all those other problems, and now your unarmed strikes draw AoOs and need to be at -4 for lethal damage (undead are imune to non-lethal damage) :)

Meanwhile, Haynuus was realising his bluffing had sadly only gone so far with the Trolins, and he was not trusted. Perhaps actions spoke louder than words, or perhaps it was better to be respected than believed.

Meanwhile the Trolin leader had apparently been more staggered than it appeared by the twin blows he had received. His fantastically complex weapon swished around for naught, and the remaining undead being engaged by him only missed its own foul attack by sheer dint of the Trolin's companion slicing the undead creature's arm off. Instantly a fountain of water gushed out over the Trolin leader, making the large Trolin splutter and cough. The undead seemed quite surprised at only having one arm. Infact, its whole body looked less bloated and impressive now water was dribbling from the hacked limb.

Haynuus quickly moved and decisively to set upon the other pin cushion undead. Against a determined half-orc, with his weapon of apparent choice, the foul creature was never goign to be a match. It never really got to turn its perforated eyes back towards Haynuus before its head was removed from its body, and its body removed from its legs. The parts fell down into a wet pool, water draining out everywhere to make the left-over skin temporarily float.

The two crossbow wielders had cursed at Haynuus stepping into their line of sight, or at least the female did. The female had apparently pulled her shot wide, the male simply missed and using Haynuus's movement as the excuse.

"Stupid snark-grag," said the male Trolin angrily after the fact, as it to draw attention away from his hastily drawn shot.
"Stupid orc," muttered the female with a little more respect as she realised there was no foe to perforate. Given that both Trolins had been frantically reloading their bows each time with barely a chance to move, they each seemed to draw a single sigh of relief now they were not instantly threatened.

Yeah Ian, works sometimes sucks to update. I tend to find myself forced to PM a story section to finsih at home! Anyway, it had a happy ending, so all good :)

The battle is swinging in favour of you guys right now - just a few angry Trolins to win over, and one scared murafu to calm and hug. Ok, ok, there are still two near dead (again) undead to beat. But both look like a stiff wind would make them fall apart at this point!

OOC - Until I'm told otherwise, I'll assume Ameena is still under the effects of the scary-psychic-woojoo that's making her think everything's gone a bit...well, shit ;). Would Westian's question have come out as normal, in his normal voice, or will she mishear that as something else? I'll skim over that part for now, till I know for sure :).

BIC - Ameena continues to back away from the battling duo in front of her, but casts a frightened glance in the direction of the watery substance as she does so - she doesn't want to accidentally slip and fall into that.
Mainly, though, she keeps her attention on what seems the more immediate threat - the reanimated body of Westian and the living, black-clad soldier. What can she do? What should she do? Attempt to destroy Westian's body in the hopes that doing so will free his spirit before the soldier can take it? But if that's already happened, there would be no point. She does wonder, though, what would be making Westian walk around like that if there is no need for his body to be doing so. Maybe he's turning into a grak-grak - they're undead, after all, and she recalls that Soorec doesn't much care for the human soldiers who roam around. That might explain why these two are fighting.
But, all in all, none of it really makes sense, and it just serves to make her more and more confused and terrified as she continues to stare up at the combatants whilst slowly moving backward away from them, body tense, ears flattened down, her paw barely keeping its grip on her knife as some part of her mind starts to wonder why exactly she doesn't just turn tail and bolt.

Westian, with his head split open, will be asking Ameena if she is ok, and 'Aurek' will be asking in unison. As if the two stopped fighting for a moment to both ask. :D You know whilst wrestling a weapon :D

OOC - Lol okay then - I think I can get away with not altering my post to include that - her mind is a bit buggered right now as it is, so adding more terror and confusion to the terror and confusion she's already feeling probably won't make too much difference ;).

The creature made a frantic grab for the sword, and clumsily clasped his hands around the blade. Westian pulled the blade back, causing slight damage to the creatures palms, and then pushed it forward into his chest. As he fell to the ground Westian withdrew his sword once more and looked over to Ameena.

"Don't worry, he is dead, we are safe. All we need to do is find Haynuus."

Right now the safety of Ameena and Haynuus were Westian's main priorities. Losing, in one way or another, Helm, Farel, Ardur, Falkor and Aurek in such a short space of time meant that the three remaining companions had to really pull together.

Attack was 18 + 6 = 24, damage was 3 + 2 = 5. Westian cannot use a prayer at the moment, since he has no way of knowing that something serious has gone wrong.

OOC - Ooh, simul-post. Has Ameena just seen "undead Westian" killed by "Aurek", who then says what OB just posted above? And does it come out in Aurek's voice, or Westian's?

OOC - Hehe, groovy...ooh this could get confusing ;).

BIC - Ameena watches as the soldier finally destroys the animated corpse of Westian, plunging his sword into her former friend's chest and letting the body crumple to the ground.
Something about the soldier's voice seems a little...odd, as he speaks to her, but she just stares up at him, continuing to slowly back away but with no idea of where she's going to go - it's taking enough effort for her not to just panic and run. The only reason she hasn't done so already, some part of her realises, is because there isn't really anywhere for her to go so there'd be no point.
At the mention of Haynuus, Ameena can't help but glance briefly in the direction of the body that fell down from above not long before. Does the soldier know that that was Haynuus? Maybe not...maybe he wants to find Haynuus so he can take the half-orc's soul too, and put it into his armour! Has he already done that to Westian? How can she tell? Maybe Westian's spirit managed to escape, and that's why the human destroyed his corpse - because he was angry that he couldn't make his armour stronger, or whatever the addition of a soul does to it. And now he wants Haynuus too. Well, the least she can do for her friend is not to let that happen.
"But...I'm right here." she says, making a half-hearted attempt not to sound terrified, and failing. "Don't you want me, too?"
As far as she can tell, the only thing she can do is persuade this soldier into chasing her - that way, he might forget about Haynuus, at least for a while. Maybe she can find her way through one of the tunnels, and he won't remember the way back to this place, or something will distract him and he'll forget about Haynuus. She realises there is a very high chance that she'll get killed here, but what does that matter? She knows of no way out of this place, anyway.

Haynuus was most satisfied at finishing off the undead thing. It was probably human once, and probably appreciated the 'favour' the half-orc had given it. Also, he hoped that the trolins appreciated a little more the half-orc now. As he seemed to be a fairly proficient warrior when compared to their leader. He took a step back and pointed at the remaining undead on an unsteady pair of legs.

"Shoot! That way." He had moved out of the way of the crossbow wielders for them to get a clear shot, and placed himself in front of the remaining trolin that was standing in front of the crack. He hoped that he had done enough to convince them that he wasn't going to run off... But what he really wanted to was run off...

"Soooo..." he turned and said to the remaining trolin, "...you're the pacifist? Or woke up with a bad back maybe?"

“Of course I want you too” Westian added soothingly, oblivious to any other connotation that Ameena could put to that fact in her current state of mind. “There are only three of us now; we need to stick together if we are to get out of this place.” He did not add that his plan to get out of the dungeon first involved going much deeper and confronting an evil, and powerful, priest. The murafu seemed to be delicate enough already, without weighing her down with other problems.

Lol, Ameena and Westian are getting on fine without my interference. Ameena, roll me another will save (and this isn't to break free, this is to resist going deeper). You know, just for when I think you guys need a nudge :D Not that you really need it, cool IC. Good instincts OB, I don't think you know the fuzzy ball of crazy you're trying to escort! Who knows, maybe we can rectify that...

Haynuus's powerful warrior posture and commanding tone broked no disagreement. The male crossbow wielder that had been insulting the half-orc a moment before now shot off another perfect bolt. The female crossbow wielder fumbled her own shot for some reason, having hastily put her own bolt in and missing the creature. That second part was understandable, since the undead creature had just lost its head to the first crossbow bolt and toppled backwards into the water.

The Trolin leader seems shocked that Haynuus had screamed orders, and as he turned around to berate Haynuus, instead found the half-orc now casually talking to the 'least' Trolin and ignoring the leader. The final straw was probably that turning caused the leader to wince at his wounds.

With a scream, the Trolin ran forward, swinging his battle club high.

Meanwhile, Haynuus's question raised an odd look. "I fight! I fight when it is not trick!" The Trolin was not completely convincing. Especially not as it backed away from Haynuus, with its nose still bleeding. Of course, Haynuus wasn't to know the thing backed away because the leader was coming close. However, Haynuus still had warrior's instincts - who knew! - from the madness of goblins, and instinctively moved sideways if something was scared around him. The battleclub swung beside Haynuus's head. Apparently, Haynuus was still in the middle of a battle!

Wow, talk about bad rolls. A 3 for attack, and a 3 for damage even if it had hit. Of course, the modifier was +14 for damage, so Haynuus just missed 17 damage there. Good luck either fighting back or talking the leader down!

OOC - Will Save = 9 (6+3). Lol. I'll hold off posting till I know how this affects her, though I'm guessing that either just running away or totally panicking and doing something bizarre are rather likely results ;).

OOC - Alrighty then :).

BIC - The black-armoured soldier's reply confirms Ameena's fears - unusually for his kind, he openly admits that he wants to get hold of her too, and his comment about "sticking together" can only mean one thing - that he does indeed want to claim her spirit in order to imprison it inside his armour.
Well, then she'll attempt to go through with her plan, and at least prevent him from getting Haynuus.
She quickly puts her knife away and fearfully (and somewhat wearily) looks up at the human.
"Then you'll have to catch me...and I can hide better than you can!" she replies, hoping to convince him that if he doesn't come after her now, he'll never find her.
Then she turns tail, dropping down to all-fours as she does so, and starts to run, listening intently behind her to make sure the clanking human is following. This is little different, she realises, to a group murafu distracting a predator so that one of them who's been trapped or injured has a chance to get away. Except now she's helping a dead half-orc, and she's the only one who can perform the distraction. She isn't sure where she should go, but keeps an eye out along the rocky wall to her right to see if there's a spot she can climb up quickly.

OOC - Ameena legs it south ;). And Perception check for speed-checking the wall for somewhere to climb = 12 (2+10). I think she may be a bit distracted by trhe scary, soul-stealing humany person she's hopefulyl convinced into following her ;).
