Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Deephold attempted to climb up while Haynuus pushed him, but the dwarf was slippery and his feet - to be frank - stank of both dwarf and plantlife. Haynuus attempted to assist Deephold again, this time by being simply a tall object to climb over. Sadly, the 'ground' started to shakle violently, so that Haynuus basically had a hard time even standing up. Luckily Deephold managed to at least scramble on to Haynuus's shoudlers and hold on to some tougher vines on the side of the wall, getting in a position to at least thing about getting out.
Unfortuntely, by that time the whipping vines had snaked around Haynuus's legs and torso. Haynuus, still tryingto be a tal unresisting object, then felt squeezed.
Ian, you take 2hp damage. You need to beat a grapple check of 13 or take take 4 more hit points of damage. Yes, bad dice rolls and ripped up vines do make easier foes and laughable damage! If you are grappled, you can attempt to break free (beat a 15) or simply ignore them and take a -4 to your skill check to help Deephold get out of the pit on your go.
Ameena scrambled to the very top of the pit before the vones, whipping and quivering in a strange panic, found the back of her body just as she was scrambling to freedom. They two wrapped themselves around her with ease, putting painful pressure on her already wounded form.
Ameena, you take 2 hit points of damage, and need to beat a 12 with a basic melee roll or take 5 more hit points of damage. Sadly the increased AC didn't help against the vines attack, it rolled too high. Still the rolls suck otherwise! If you are grappled, I believe you can beat a 7 next round automatically and so can break free.
Meanwhile, unseen by everyone the reason for the increased frenzy of the torn up vines was the dragon spasming, its head rolling back. The moment Petal had thrown the organ - certainyl a lung - into the water, the dragon had begun to drown.
Aaw, poor dragon! You guys are mean to it! Anyway, no matter your size and hit points drowning is bad. So Ameena might get her wish regarding the poor thing being offed! The torn vines are basically half as powerful as they were, and boy does it show. I think you guys should be ok getting free without too much damage. Maybe....
Anyway, I think I've synced you all back up again, assuming Ameena double climbed, and Haynuus double attempted but failed to help Deephold. Deephold rolled terribly the first time, but did better the second time.
Not going to update the map, I don't think you need a tactical map anymore.

Ameena gives a squeal of pain as the vines squeeze around her middle, slightly crushing her but fortunately not really trying to pull her back down into the pit too much. She writhes around and tries to bite at the nearest one, hoping to free herself.
OOC - Melée attack with nommy teeth = bugger. Um. Missed, lol. Of all the times to roll a bloody botch-roll

OOC - Grapple check (avoiding more damage), +7 Base +4 Strength (1d20+11=31)
Haynuus hadn't seen Petal throw the magic lung into the water, and so assumed that the spasmodic and uncoordinated assault on them by the dragon was only the beginning of what was going to be a very short day if they didn't get out. "Quick shorty! Move!" his lack of tact in the heat of the moment was exasperated by the fact that the vines were systematically tickling him! Under his arms, backs of his legs, one had even started to climb up his trouser leg and things NEVER survived when they climbed up there[*]. Entering his trousers was the shambling monster's mistake, Haynuus realised. There was hope after all!
He attempted to give Deephold a big lift up onto his shoulders (1d20=16) then, as at least the dwarf might be able to let him out. "Come on, and get out!"
[*] Short story. On a muddy street corner while traversing human territory Haynuus once watched an old and broken man with a bandage wrapped around and covering his head shout out predictions of the future and foretell of great deeds. The general morass of people passed him by, ignoring him or occasionally tossing him a coin. It was only after a few minutes that he realised that the man was talking about HIM. He listened with awe about what gone and what would come of his lifetime that there was hope yet despair, pain yet sheer joy! Yes! And so with that he boldly strolled across to the man, reached into his pocket and threw 2 coins on the floor... The blind seers's sixth sense and cavernous nose screamed at him as soon as he bowed down to pick up the coins. "Jesus![+] I don't know where those coins have been but whatever enters en ye pockets will surely die!" And with that he left Haynuus open mouthed and with 3 more coins than he started with. It was surely an omen!
[+] I'm actually translating here, as it was Aniger, goddess of squashed animals and poor vision.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Hyanuus's determined movements sees him trampling the ground, trying to use the vines wrapping around him as a stepping stone to help boost the dwarf. Surprisingly, it works - the vines are trambled underfoot AND act as a springboard to catapult one rotund and heavy dwarf upwards. Deephold had alreayd been making mild progress up the wall, but the feel of a determined half-orc hand up his posterior made him scale the wall as if he were being pulled on a rope.
Lol, even if you didn't have a spectacular roll, I think the story of Haynuus's destiny of terrible pocket stench would be good enough to secure his freedom. Very Baldrick-like. We shall have to call his trousers the Hayndorica, a mythical set of clothing that must never be opened lest all the evils of the world be let loose. Or killed dead. The myth was hard to translate owing to all the beer spilled on it.
Ameena was pulled at the wrong time, and the vines strained to yank her over the edge of the pit she's just scaled, back down in to the writhing mass of them.
Ouch, vines rolls the bestest! You need to beat a 25 with 1d20+attack bonus+strength bonus, or get yanked back down in to the pit. Sorry! You are right, of all the times to flub a roll, against a previous poor roll ofd the vines was not the right time! Maybe Haynuus can lend you his too good roll?
Ok, will hold off on the Dragon's move until Raixel posts for Petal. You might guess it's murafu unfriendly, so Petal hasn't got time to rest on her laurels of making a SRUBBERY DRAGON DROWN! I think I'll just say that again, it bears repeating. Dragon. Made of plants. And rocks. Sitting at the bottom of a vine-y rock-y pit. Currently drowning.
You guys are so hard to impress/amuse. I want to know if raixel did it deliberately or not!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
OOC - So basically I need to make another attack roll and add my Str mod to it (so, zero...) as well as the usual in order to not get pulled back down into the pit. Hmm, so basically I've gotta do it with another attack roll, basically. So I need to roll at least a 16 on the d20 in order to escape. Hmm...
BIC - Ameena struggles frantically, trying to free herself and lashing out with the small claws on her hind legs, as well as her teeth, in order to try and make the creature release her. She may not want anything truly bad to happen to it, because after all it is just defending itself from these creatures who've just woken it up and made it fall through the floor, but when a murafu is in the grip of a predator, they'll do whatever they can to get out...
OOC - So, the roll...right...let's try not to take any more damage as after the botch of last go I'm now only on 10hp. And the result iiiis...bugger. Lol. Um. 12 (3+9). It is at this point that I would try to spend a Fate Point to reroll, but as this isn't Dark Heresy I can't really do that so I suppose I'll just have to fall back onto the vine-dragon again and possibly get eaten or something. This isn't really a good day for the poor murafu, is it?

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Um, I cant actually take credit for thinking it out like 'its a lung, if i throw it in water, he'll drown.' Honestly I was more concerned with it flying back to the dragon's body when Petal let go of it, and dumped it in the water in the hopes that that wouldnt happen. Also, I figured it may dissolve if it was made of earth and/or be generally harmful to a rock/plant creature. So yeah, no brilliance here...
Petal hovers above the pit, flying back and forth frantically. What could she do? She didnt want to risk another fireball with everyone packed in down there. But perhaps she could give the dragon something to think about.
Again she reaches her arms out as a magic wind ripples her hair and dress. "UMOHKATHROS" she shouts, willing the air to solidify beneath Ameena and help pull her over the mouth of the pit. The wind swirls around the pixie for a second longer, before kicking up a minature dust cloud as it descends into the chasm , aimig straight foor the rent side of the dragon. When she feels the extention of her willl grasp another rock, she tries to tear it free.
{b] So again, I dont know how you want to adjucate this. If you need the STR roll its PULL (1d20+2=11) [/b]

With Deephold free, and Haynuus suddenly regretting that the called the dwarf shorty, he turns to see Ameena wrapped in vines. She's so small! They completely encompass her in a writhing mass of living vines and so Haynuus uses some applied logic to resolve the situation. He unsheathes his greatsword and attacks!
Rather than using the magic weapon, he reckons that there is nothing more fulfilling than the feel of sharpened heavy metal on wood and vine. It was as if metal was invented for such a process, it felt so good to him. Seeing where Ameena was, and noting that the vines had to extend across to reach her, he chose that as the weakest point and attempted to chop off each vine that stretched across to engulf her. If all went well, she'd only have to throw off dead and twitching vegetation in a few moments and as a bonus would still be wearing her tail.
A few steps then and a a satisfying whack sound (1d20+10=12, 2d6+10=18) could be heard down in the deep depression.
"The rope!" he shouts up.
OOC - Greatsword with powerattack -2Melee/+4dmg... Naff attack roll though!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Ameena was pulled back in to the pit, though fortunately for the murafu the vines were now thick enough that she was reasonably cushioned in her fall. The vines did not stop grasping her, constricting painfully. However, Petal's actions seemed to cause great distress in the spasming figure of the dragon, even though no sound was audible from it. And Haynuus's powerful swing, while it sadly missed what were the actual weakest set of vines, still allowed Ameena to struggle free.
The vines looked as if they were intent upon trying to ensnare another victim, but Haynuus's sword blow had stoped them coming after him, and Ameena had managed to free herself well enough for now. In general the dragon's body was quivering and lurching, although the head was rolled back to one side, water seeping out.
"Rope! The rope!" said Deephold, grabbing the elven rope Petal had discarded. He flung it down the side of the pit in between where Ameena and Haynuus were, and seemed to brace himself as best he could in the tangle above.
Meanwhile, Petal's magic again brought a strange oversided rock her to arms, this time even trickier to catch. The rock felt firmer than the previous one, though not less odd. Instead of irregular undulations though, the rock seemed to be vibrating. It took a moment for Petal to realise it was actually pulsing in her hands, with a regular rhythmn.
Well that was weird! Vines scored a pretty good roll against Ameena against any action she might take - although Haynuus and Petal's actions would have bothe given bonuses this time around. However, didn't really matter mechanically unless AMeena wants to try for an extra move action, since the vines then basically blew their constriction roll for their turn! And the second vines fared no better trying to snag Haynuus. Stupid vines! Remember the glory days of Haynuus getting crushed pretty nastily. Or even Ameena getting reduced to almost single digits? Ah, good times, good times.
Anyway, Petal has another exciting organ in her hands...wait, that sentence became a train wreck even as it left my fingers.....Ameena and Haynuus are currently free agents wiht weird vines still trying ot get them, the dragon seems to be generally upset but not actively paying attention to anything. And Dehpold is trying to help. It's just another day in the pit in the game!

Petal realizes that she appears to be holding a heart. She lands on the ground away from the pit and drops the heart at her feet before it can try to meld with her, placing a rock on top of it and then stands on top of the rock so it cant float away. Then she takes an iron spike and her hammer from the satchel slung across her chest and positions the iron spike directly in the center of the beating disgusting rock-thing. When she has it positioned, she takes a mighty (well to a pixie anyway) swing at the spike witjh the hammer, attempting to drive the spike through it and into the ground.
"On you should hold!" she yells to her companions as she works. "If works this does, then trouble us not the dragon will!"
I dont know what you need, so heres a random d20. 1d20=10

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Now more or less running on instinct, the prolonged close presence of such a huge predator having had that effect on a small and apparently (to many species, anyway) tasty creature such as herself, Ameena again hurls herself at the wall of the pit, wanting nothing more than to get as far away from the creature as possible. While normally any murafu would try to help their friends before saving themselves, sometimes instinct just takes over, and in the event of survival the unfortunate murafu is normally piled upon by his or her friends as they attempt to offer comfort and to calm the fear of their panicking family member. She claws at anything that comes her way, lashing out with her teeth if need be - anything to stop this creature trying to grab and crush her.
OOC - Heh, I rolled a Will save for myself to see whether Ameena would freak out (this is, to her point of view, a prolonged predatory encounter, after all - it's a zillion times bigger than her and it's got big teeth and stuff, and all that just wears down the mental resistance after a while), and she failed so now she's gone into Panic Mode and she's gonna lash out at anything (yes, anything) that comes her way. So...umm...I'm presuming attempts at escaping won't work due to good rolls on the part of the vines and stuff. However, here is a Climb roll just in case I misunderstood it and I can actually try something...28 (12+16). And an attack roll in retaliation to anything that gets too close/tries to grab her (friend or foe - she's sort of lost the ability to tell the difference right now)...27 (18+9), damage = 2. In the event of the attack actually being used, you can decide narratively whether you want it to be made by claws or teeth. And in case you'd forgotten, she doesn't get any penalties for attacking unarmed due to having Improved Unarmed Strike. Oh, and it would be lethal damage, in this case - the ol' fight-or-flight reaction is running strong here, so in the event that flight doesn't work, she's bloody well gonna fight with whatever she's got, the instinct to not get eaten being pretty strong even in a species who tend not to mind dying too much if they know they're saving a friend. Still, it look slike Petal might be about to give the vine-dragon a bit of a heart attack, so maybe we won't have to worry about it all too much longer (though I imagine Ameena's not gonna notice straight away and will still want to run into a corner and hide for a while).

With Ameena exploding into escape mode and Petal crushing organs (Haynuus doesn't know this) the half-orc sheathes his sword and has another go at this climbing thing, this time with the help of a rope. "On my way!" A quick look back and Haynuus realises that it may well be dieing from something, and it may well be due to Petal pulling funky bits out of the inside of the chaos. Nonetheless, his existence was at hand so he may as well spit in each one before attempting to climb out.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Ameena, you could tecnically 'attack' while restrained, at a -4 penalty, but it's morelikely how you are describing things that you'd be opposing the vines and trying to run away. Therefore, I'll take you attack roll and convert it to a resist grapple check. Despite the decent roll of the vines, the help you are getting last round from Haynuus (and even Petal's actions) mean you would actually break free. That would leave you a movement action left, so Ameena could basically yank herself free and then leap at the wall and climb up fast. We'll leave the biting as narrative for her getting out, instead of a determined attack. Given her panic, I think it makes more sense that way.
Ameena panicked, struggling against the vines and just trying to pull her way out of them. Her teeth snapped left and right, though it was actually her pulling - which brought some taut vines in to the path of Hyanuus's blow - that actually saw her get free.
She simply carried on, leaping up the surface of the pit as if it weren't there. It was easy to imagine everyone else had fallen on their sides, and she was the only one running normally, in fact.
Haynuus took the opportunity to grab the rope. Despite his well founded concerns, the rope only jerked once before Deephold managed to temporarily dig in and allow himself to be used like a staking peg for the rope. Haynuus managed to start up the pit, though was torn as to whether to keep relying on the dwarf's ability to resist the half-orc's jerking movements. This concern was even more warranted when the vines came after the thing that had hurt them. The set he had just sheered through were violent, smashing the wall at his side with barely any co-ordination. However, the second set were insiduous. He felt a stinging in his legas his knee was slapped against the wall, and it was at that time he realised the darn things were around him again.
Haynuus is starting to climb out of the pit! But has friends again! Only 1hp damage, but a further 9 constriction damage and being grapples is awaiting him if he fails to beat an 18 grapple resist. The vines spectacularly fail to roll well next time, so Haynuus can pull free on your next turn Ian without further harm. Just need more climbing!
Deephold was partially distracted from his task by watching the pixie's own gymnastics. She balanced precariously on top of the stone on top of the heart, wings flapping, and so couldn't quite get a decent strike against it. Still, she had chipped a little rock off if it to give herself a place to wedge the spike in to. Surely it was only a matter of time and the foul thing in the pit would be a memory.
Yeah, the heart's easy to yank as it is immobile and not sentient, but it's still a big bugger rock, so has a decent AC from a natural AC bonus when actually attacking it. Good plan though, so feel free to try that again next go!

OOC - Heh, rolled myself another Will save to see if Ameena stops panicking after she gets loose...
BIC - Despite being free of the vines grabbing her, Ameena pays little heed to anything but the desire to escape - after all, it's a huge creature, and it has a long reach - it might still be able to grab her even though she's broken free of its grasp for the moment. Mind racing to try and find any sort of cover, her paws follow suit and she simply runs as fast as she can. Away. That's the only direction she's aware of at the moment - away from the predator. Away from grasping death.
OOC - I dunno which side of the pit Ameena managed to climb out of (whichever was nearest/easiest available to her after falling down it twice), but basically as she's still in Panic Mode she's jsut legging it away as fast as she can in whatever direction she's facing. I dunno which direction that is but assume that if Deephold or Petal are in her way, she ignores them, and also she won't throw herself into the river at this time. After running for a while (several metres at least), if she sees anything resembling cover (a big rock she can hide behind, a crack she can squeeze into, etc), she'll go for it and cower there until such a time as sentience takes over from instinct once again

OOC - attempt to beat an 18 grapple resist (1d20+11=12)
Haynuus spectacularly fails at noticing the vines rise up behind him and then whip around him on the rope. For a moment the dwarf was carrying both Haynuus and some rather vigorous vegetation, where our half orc could only imagine the swearing going through his bearded brain. He was being squeezed to near death and then suddenly and inexplicably it practically let him free again. He felt like it was his last chance to get out alive. He made one more attempt to heave himself out of the situation. (1d20=9) Unlike the psuedo-clematis strangling him, however, he was not a climber (ho ho!).

Petal focuses intently on the rock heart thing in front of her, closing her mind to the carrying on of her companions nearby. Nothing existed for her but the hammer, the chisel, and the rock. Even though she was small and didnt have much strength in her arms, she knew she had to destroy this vile thing to save her friends, lest they get torn apart by the creature in the pit. When she feels she is ready, she focuses her mind and brings her arm up, then brings the hammer down in a mighty swing against the chisel.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Ameena scrambled up the pit and darted off diagonally out of the reach of the vines, making for some larger rocks around the bank of the river's turn.
Petal's blow again couldn't quite penetrate the stony surface, although more chips flew out so the stake almost stayed straight out, barely requiring holding. Another decent blow would see it done. But would she be too late to help Haynuus?
Meanwhile, Deephold again managed to stay upright and dug in to the ground, being a perfect lever to Haynuus's scrambling. Haynuus was not the most beautiful nor graceful of climbers, but considering the circumstances at least he was managing progress with Deephold's help. The lip of the pit was in sight.
Down below, the ground gave the most violent shudderings possible, and then was still. A small trail of water dribbled from the still mouth of the dragon's head. The rotating rocks of its eyes slowed to a stop, and the rock contracted to the resemblance of coal. The dragon was dead.
The vones, however, did not stop. Petal - who had shared a link with them when trying to speak with them - could hear the echoes of plant speech in her mind. Free of the dragon's form and mind, they're speech was clearer. Although the heart under her foot stopped pulsating with a beat, it still shuddered as if alive. As if powering something. Clearly, something of the dragon's life had transferred to the plants, giving it a horrible aggressive awareness beyond normal plants. One that did not rely on breathing. Hopefully it relied on the heart, still.
For the words were very clear. Kill
Haynuus had multiple vines swinging around him, for the moment thrashing instead of insidious. They tried to batter him, but luckily his banded mail just about protected him, and the vines were snipped off instead of trapped in its folds as he moved. Still, it was close and he might not be so lucky as he tried to leave.
Ok, so Petal is almost ...almost...guaranteed to kill the heart next time. Maybe. Surely? Meanwhile, Haynuus lucked out not being grabbed this time. That would have been sad, given the fact he's almost out. Deephold has finally rolled well, boldstering Haynuus's mediocre rolls to something almost acceptable
And Ameena is cowering somewhere. However, the predator is dead! You've draowned a poor little dragon! All that remains is to kill the vines thta were its skin and legs, that seem to have a horrible life of their own and you are apparently home free to leave this crazy place!
So well done you guys. Don't get cocky though, there's still evil vines

GOD DAMN STUPID LOW PIXIE STRENGTH ROLLS GRRRR! Dont worry ian! Pixie power to the rescue!
Petal reels slightly from the hate in the plant-creature's mind voice. Focusing her will, she stares at the rock and chisel. She WILL destroy this thing. If she didn't she could vert well be responsible forthedeath of a friend. And that would not happen.
"Mi kreshi'ta ei airmi, Titania'los" she growls as she brings the hammer down one last time. If this didnt work, she didn't know what she was going to do.
1d20=1 ARE YOU SHITTING ME!?

Lady Titania has spoken. She does not want you killing life. If you do it, you're on your own
Well, if Haynuus gets his butt in gear, you will have the time to kill the plants. IF he fumbles a roll too... we might still have one more round of combat left here

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Finding some rocks large enough to qualify as decent enough cover for her small size, Ameena darts behind them and cowers, shivering in fear. She manages to resist the urge not to bolt any further and tries to focus on recovering her senses somewhat, hunching down on her hindquarters and putting her head underneath her and her forepaws over her head as she tries to shut everything out for long enough that the fear and the urge to flee fade enough for her to start paying attention to her surroundings once more.
OOC - You can count it as a delay if you want, but basically Ameena doesn't do anything more this round except curl into an upright ball thinking the murafu equivalent of "shitshitshitshit calm down calm down it's okay shitshitshit..." over and over again

Yeah and Petals pretty much doing the same thing at this point. Stupid critical fail. I'm suprised beo didnt make me miss and stub my toe, thereby taking a -2 penalty to all rolls due to distraction. Oh shit, maybe I shouldnt give ideas....
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Aww, I wouldn;t do that! Hey guys, to change the subject completely, you ALL take -2 penalties to your rolls due to laughing at Petal driving a stike through her foot. Raixel, you don't take the -2 penalty. Instead you lose your movement action due to, you know, spike through the foot. Also, your standard actions are limited to either crying in pain without pausing for breath, or swearing in Sylvian and punching things.
Not really, but that would be funny. I think the annoyance of an extra round of combat is enough!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Haynuus decided at that moment to hate rope. He was not getting out of this one as easily as he'd hoped. "Nearly there Mister Deephold!" He was both well aware that he was on the verge of losing consciousness and he had insulted the only person able to help him at the moment... The dwarf was doing a sterling job at both holding his own and proving that there are advantages to possessing a low center of gravity.
With the edge of the sink hole in sight he reached out with a "For fuck sake" which in his mind was both a prayer and an express of frustration. (1d20=4) OOC - Oh for fuck sake! It was then he has an apparent stroke of luck as his hand reaches what must be an underground root of a tree, pulling himself right up to the top... Only to have it slap him in the face as he peers above the level of the floor. Haynuus was probably more red in the face than the dwarf is at this point.
OOC - Ahh, if only Petal would stop smashing her thumb with a hammer.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Wow, good thing the NPC is rolling well! I'm going to stop rolling Deephold's rolls now, third good roll i na row. He's either goign to grant +2 to convert a climb roll, or +2 to your grapple resists depending on what's happening./ Given the terrible climb roll, you get +2 for your next grapple check. And as you'll see, another +1 ontop of that for Deephold's other action.
Haynuus failed at the last moment to grip the edge, instead getting a face full of root. Luckily, Deephold pulled wiht all his strength to keep the unlucky half-orc from slipping. "Almost there!" Deephold cried out, trying to pull. "Lord Larethian, hear me and grant me strength!" Haynuus could feel the dwarf's enthusiastic aid, and was almost able to get out when the vines slammed near him again. Once more, some just smashed the wall in impotent fury, while others thumped against his armour.
However, this time they managed to reach higher, smacking the back of his head off the pit wall, and then curling in to the neck of his armour. With that purchase, they once more tried to wrap around him and pull him down.
Hopefully for the last time, grapple check! You've lost 3hp (sorry) from the blow, and you'll lose another 9 unless you beat a 17 in the grapple. Remmeber Deephold is currently granting you a +3 right now. Hopefully you'll succeed, because to do anything on your next turn will be a 22 to beat, and the Deephold bonus goes down to +2.
Petal could cry out in frustration when the half-in stake actually managed to wilt at the last moment, so her blow was turned to cracking along the side. Titiana seemed to be against such cold-blooded murder of the vines around, even if she would happily allow a noble half-orc to die to maddened and twisted flora.
Ok, either way I'm letting you destroy the heart next round Raixel! Well, assuming you still concentrate on it. Roll another attack roll, a good roll means you 'kill' the vines before they would get a turn. A bad roll means they get a final turn to be mean to Haynuus and anyone else close before they die.
Ameena, obviously if the murafu has herself under control, she can either rush forward to help Deephold/Haynuus, or she can rush forwards to help Petal. Either way, an aid another roll is probably justified, unless you have any cleverer plans.
Ian - I'm losing track of hp here - how badly off are you?
Anyway, weird that the dice are managing to snatch a clean victory from your clutches, but sadly that's sometimes what the dice are there for. This was the big evil boss, you managed to not have it fry you all with dragon breath and pop you with its larger vines, seems odd but the way of things that the easier escape from the remnants of it is the thing causing you problems!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
OOC - I'm not quite sure what I should have Ameena do at this point. From an in-character perspective, that is - she'd've probably helped out stabbing the heart-rock to death (not that she has a knife any more but she'd've used something) if I'd been doing what I thought was the wisest action as a player. Still, she hasn't really noticed the maiming the poor dragon's been getting, since she's mainly been concentrating on getting away from it - she's probably never faced a predator this huge before but now she's away from it, it's gonna take her a while to calm down enough to remember her friends still might be in danger. But she still won't want to kill it (she didn't notice Petal summoning its vital organs and doing stuff to them
), so from my point of view, there's not really much she'd be willing to do even if she wasn't a bit freaked out right now. But should we play another game after this one finishes (whenever that is), I'll make sure I come up with a character who's a bit more apathetic when it comes to killing stuff
.

Its like the opposite of one time my players snuck in the heart of the evil temple wearing robes of the evil organization. There were three of them, and they managed to get in with out any suspicion. They were wandering thru the halls and happened to run into *the head cleric and 6 guards*. The cleric asks the half orc barbarian (crap charisma) something, and I(the dm) am gleefully waiting for the failed bluff roll(like 5% chance to pass this DC) when the half-orcs player ROLLS A NAT 20. I couldnt believe that. My players were talking about it, hell they still do.
Petal growls something obvoiusly unpleasant in Sylvan under her breath. To anyone listening, a growling pixie sounds like the buzzing of a swarm of angry bees. "Brasi'la, lilni-kraati!"she screams at the rock as she brings the hammer down again and again.
DIE ROCK DIE (1d20+4=22)
and if the hammer counts as a light weapon so I can get weapon finesse, its a +8 instead of a +4

Haynuus was attempting to grapple for his life (1d20+11=31) (i.e. he has exactly 1 HP left!) which is always tricky when you're stuck half way up a wall on a rope in heavy armour. However the vines made the fatal mistake of making a grab for his ruck sack with his precious screamer mulch inside. "Noooo!" With all of his might he attempted to pull free of any kind of entrapment or entanglement with a frenzied attack with a free arm, leg, teeth or anything!
Free for the briefest of seconds he attempted one more haul up and over the edge of the pit. (1d20+3=18) Suddenly he could see the dwarf over the edge once more and says to him "Larethian really works, dude." And with that attempts to get as far away as possible from any of the vines that may be reaching for him.

Ameena, I actually like(as a player, I mean. Petal thinks Ameena's a bit naive, in a refreshing sort of 'its cool you havent gone through horrid life experiences that twisted you fundamentally like I have' way)...um...Ameena's
respect-for-life and not wanting to kill. It probably makes her a little hard to play, but its a refreshing change from "Orcish children! Kill! Demons! Kill! A Unicorn! Kill!"
