The web server that this site is hosted on will be changed this weekend; there may be some down time as a result.
This server move will hopefully fix performance problems that have been happening over the last few weeks.
Thanks for you understanding

May I ask about the nature of these problems? I was having problems recently with extremely long log-in times and sending messages took ages too, sometimes more than a minute. I thought it was because of my browser (Mozzila) and didn't dare to ask about such a seemingly stupid thing but perhaps it was because of the server?

The server move was supposed to have happened last night, but it *still* hasn't. I am very angry with my host, they are being ridiculous.
Anyway, I've been told it will happen to day, so the site may go offline at any point. Hopefully it won't affect you all too much.

Well, they are taking their damn sweet time about it. I reported this to them 10 days ago, and there have been problems for weeks prior to that. I am seriously considering moving to another host now anyway, the current company have lost my confidence in them.

UPDATE: Server move should be happening today. There shouldn't be any down time, but I'm giving this warning just in case things go wrong.
I've insisted they give me a refund for March, which is the least they can do. I am still considering moving to another host anyway, but we'll see what happens after the server move.

UPDATE: Server has been changed. We lost a couple of posts, but other than that, everything went smoothly.
You should all notice a big speed increase, and a much more responsive site.

Bugger. There appears to be problems with the Private Messages function. I have raised a support request.
Apologies everyone, it looks like you can't use private messaging at present.

Yeah, it's almost
faster than light ! And even my productivity at work
has risen steeply during last two or three days because I don't have to wait for ages for the forums to do what I want.

Is it just me or has the forum slowed down considerably again?

Yeah, it's taken me two goes to get to this forum thread, by which time I guessed the reason for the post!

Ahh, I did wonder whether there was a problem when I tried logging in earlier this afternoon and it couldn't access the forum. This must've been why

The host had more issues again today but I'm assured it should now be all OK. Sorry for any down time you may have experienced.

Yeah, had a bit earlier where it wasn't working again. At least these downtimes don't last too long - I can check back a couple of hours later and find it's working fine
