Re: Guess the game
Saumun, nope, I don't think any other similar games followed it. It was huge for a while but then sunk without a trace and all other game developers knew they couldn't make anything better in that genre so they didn't bother. After that it was just countless tetris clones for 25 years, then something called Candy Crush.

Re: Guess the game
Oh well, if it isn't that well known then it obviously has no great significance or meaning in the history of computer games or anything like that. So we probably shouldn't bother thinking too hard about it. I mean, what does thinking have to do with playing games, anyway? You just log in and follow all the pointy-arrows, text boxes, and glowing trails and exclamation marks and stuff. Why should you have to work anything out? Whoever thinks that would be fun?

Re: Guess the game
I for one LOVE games that hold my hand and tell me what to do. In fact, I prefer it if the game plays itself for me. Much more fun if I don't have to do any of the work!
So anyway, my screenshot is from the game "Bludgeon Farter", from a short lived genre known as the "bludgeon mauler". Basically you just run your naked avatars into walls until they die of their wounds, chronic starvation, or noxious bodily fumes. The quicker you can do it, the better.

Re: Guess the game
Ohh right, one of those. I think I heard about one called "Gamers Like Hacks" or something, where you spent half the time falling down pits because the game is just full of them and there's no indication as to what you're supposed to do or where you're supposed to go. In fact, I think the layout has been so badly designed that it keeps bugging out and changing around every five minutes, switching you from a harmless empty corridor to some kind of deathtrap with no warning.

Re: Guess the game
Excellent, I'm glad someone else knows what I'm talking about!
Now that we've cleared that up, who remembers this game?

Re: Guess the game
I'm sure i've seen Gambit's game in magazines (late 80s/turn of the 90s?), but never played it and can't remember the name.

Don't worry, I'm even more clueless - I'm so clueless that I no longer bother to mention it because it would be just repetitive.
Finally playing and immensely enjoying the awesome Thimbleweed Park-a-reno!

Yeha, I figured I've been repeating myself a bit, but then if I don't post at all, people might think I've stopped posting .

Re: Guess the game
Remembered a game that I kept meaning to post up. My sister liked playing this one back when we were kids...

Wow, I'm not really sure how I got that since I've never played it. Maybe I just sort of remembered some image or trailer I saw for it somewhere, lol.

May have missed one or two, but hopefully not. List is too long to post (currently 331 games) which is why i linked a small text file.
With this in mind, i thought this one had been posted before.... Turns out that it hasn't, so:
