Forum software upgrade
In a few hours today, I will upgrade the forum software to the latest version. This is required for security and maintenance reasons.
There will be a short downtime of probably less than 1 hour. If you see a message about ongoing maintenance, please come back later.
All content will be kept intact, but unfortunately changes in the new version will cause the loss of 2 features:
- The default theme (named proScreamer) will not be supported anymore and all user profiles will revert to the default built-in style.
- The chat feature will be removed. It is not used much anymore so hopefully nobody will miss it.

Re: Forum software upgrade
The upgrade went fine, the forum was disabled for less than 30 minutes.
However, some time after the upgrade was completed there was a server downtime, with no link with the upgrade itself.
Everything seems to work fine now.
Please tell if you see find any issue with this new version.

Re: Forum software upgrade
The display now shows user info (name, avatar, etc) to the right of posts instead of to the left as it used to (and as all my other forums do). Is there a way to change that? I've checked my forum preferences and can't see any .

Re: Forum software upgrade
This is part of the prosilver theme, there is no option to move it to the left.
There is a phpbb extension to do that for version 3.1 but it has not been updated for 3.2. And I don't want to install extensions that are not maintained anymore, this might cause other issues in the future. I think we'll have to live with profiles on the right for now.

Re: Forum software upgrade
I just saw the upgrade.
I am missing the "active topics" and the quick links to the encyclopia, wiki and so on. Is it missing or that's me too dumb to find it ?
Modified: Indeed, I am dumb, I found the "active topics".

Re: Forum software upgrade
I have replaced the "Quick Links" drop-down list that was present in the top right corner of the header by links appearing on the main forum page.
Some links were broken so I have removed them.

A great update - thanks to all involved!
The stonework walls? Pristine. The floor? Level. The waterworks? Flowing. Central heating? The Dragon in the basement was grumpily heating the pipes. Lord Chaos consulted the blueprints again, looking for the bathroom. #playmygame!

Re: Forum software upgrade
It will take some getting use to.
I had 2 private messages that did not belong that continued to appear even after I viewed them. Will miss proScreamer.

btw: "Creating Order out of Chaos since 1987" - that's 30 years this year. Is the anniversary already passed, or still ahead?

Re: Forum software upgrade
Yeah, I was gonna mention the upcoming anniversary later in the year when we got closer to it (I knew it was somewhere not long before Christmas). This also means it's been coming up to ten years since we had our 20th anniversary meet-up!
