Passing octopus thing on level 4?

Post by dbarron »

I never completed DM when I played it originally, however, I did make it down to level 8 or 9. Playing this clone, I wonder if I vanquished the octopus thing with fireballs or lightning (which I can't do yet...as I haven't found the scrolls for it)?&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp
Any hints on successful strategies ?
Thanks
Danny

RTC has a slight difference in that creatures can now attack you instantly if you move at them (like we do to them!).
However, it has two bugs atm, onethat you can make use of - the first is that spells are quite powerful in this release- so don't rush at it, you will be dead! However, the slime won't shoot at you inless you are in the next square - so it is best to walk slowly back, letting it come to you - hit iit with any decent weapon and walk it backwards through safe corridors. It shouldn't fire spells at you, so all will be good.

Don't throw bombs at it..these won't stick!

Have fun playing

Update for 0.09:

Their spells are now not that powerful, though they are fairly hardy. Best to stand in a snaking corridor, or have some means of ducking out of the way of the spells (like a branched corridor, TSay backed off, then run up, thump them, then back off a step ort two again so you can see spells coming. Have vi potions for your back guys, and for more than one, try to catch the first one in a crossfire (they aren't immune to poison bolts, so of course you can use these too).
