I'm on L5 (with skellies and beholders) but no matter how many I kill, they just keep on respawning at a frightening rate. Also, my characters never seem to increse their fighter skill level. I assume the key for the door on the left is in this section? I've spent a whole evening here and it's pissing me off. Any suggestions?

Ok, the door to the left can be opened by an iron key (there is one in the big room, but there are four available in the puzzle rooms before). You might not want to go on til you've killed the things in the big room though, as they'll come out to get you.

The little two by two room at the start has invisible presure pads , so no matter how you go in, you trigger either a beholder group or a skeleton group to generate. What to do is stand just outside of this...the creatures should wander over to you, pull them back to kill them individually. If you want to investigate the room (there are a few wall switches that can get you an iron key and plate) then hug the left wall (so only skeletons generate) and don't come back out til they are dead.

The fighter levels will come, don't worry...you might want to throw missiles at the creatures to gain some ninja levels instead to bolster your front guys til they do.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Can I ask a question about the previous level? The big room which has 4 rooms off it.
I cannot work out the correct sequence in the room with the teleports, and in the room with the moving pits I cannot reach the far left corner. Can you help?

Teleporter room: stand facing the first teleporter - correct sequece of teleporters (never turning) is:right, back, forward, left, right, back
you will always be oriented to pick up any objects like mirror and darts along the way

Pit room: try to get to the right hand side first...slide along the right wall, if blocked move back and forward, or one left then forawrd
At the end you will walk along the right hand wall and the pits should close as you walk up to them..there's not to much but a slime in the right hand room.
Once clear, you will see that opposite on the other wall of the pit room is another corridor out. The pit infront of this can be closed by making your way towrds the central square between where you are and this new corridor. Now, you will have to walk back towards the exit door in this central part..wtch out, this generates a coatyl. Try as soon as possible to hug the left hand wall that leads to the other corridor, using the same method as previously. You have to be carefull, falling back too much near the entrance can retriger the pit right infront of this corridor

if X is a wall, O is a pit/open tile, you start at a, hug the right wall as much as possible to b. then get to c to open the pit at e, then you will have to walk back to about d befroe you are allowed to go towards the left wall, now walk up (backing up then walking forward again) to get to e, then the corridor beyond

There is a slime in the room beyond b, and there will be a couatyl generated when you go to d, and it will come from e

*shrug* hard to explain, hope it helps a little though : )

Just reread your post, and saw you can reach the right hand side..cool, from what i rememebr you need to do this anyway first befroe getting to the left hand side, even if you don't want anything from that room
