Graphics Release

Messages are moved here (should anyone ever want to see them again) once they are no longer applicable to the current version (e.g. suggestions that have been implemented or bugs that have been fixed).

Graphics Release

Post by amaprotu »

It seems to me that the graphics system is done, if this is the case could you release a "Graphics On;y" uncoompressed version? Something so that we can start working on graphics sets, I wouuld like to start making new interface graphics as soon as possible. Maybe you could release just the bmps however it would be nicer to be able to run them and see how they looked...

the NewDM.exe from the clone board has the same set up and you can use that to see them when you test them out..

Is there a different version of NewDM? The one I have has no interface, just the dungeon view... and you can only use the keyboard to move around.

You can work around things like that really.. but you know if it con't be done yet don't try it.

What can be done is character portraits, objects (in dungeon and out), walls, Wall and floor items/patches, and monsters.

That should be more than enough to work on for the time being.. Give george some time to get RTC to a point where he mostly only has to deal with bug fixes rather than all the new suggestions and what not.

You can if you like get a screen grab of RTC in action and use that to create a full screen interface image and then chop it up, if need be, later..

I've done a large portion of the graphics without the benefit of an editable verion of RTC so really I wouldn't worry so much.

There are also probably various other versions which other people have customised floating about somewhere, but that's the original. Please note that the floor objects now use a very different system for scaling so don't worry if they look silly in NewDM - they work in RTC (as you know).

I've done most of the dungeon graphics so far and I've started the monsters (only 3 so far) as well as having done intro and Entrance graphics.

It's been pretty fun..
