Going to start this game soon have a few questions

Post by Mayo »

Is this game more like Chaos strikes back or Dungeon master?

Even though i did like Chaos Strikes Back after beating both of them I Preferred the simplicity of Dungeon Master. Less hidden walls, more clear puzzles.

Plus i encountered quite an issue with running out of keys in Chaos strikes Back and had to remake the entire game from scratch to actually beat it. (thread about it is on Chaos Strikes back forum if curious called "need help or remaking")

Is there anything i should know about dungeon master 2, prior to playing... like are there limited keys or anything ? Like can i run out of keys like you can in chaos strikes back? What do you think? Do you think its more like Chaos strike back?

Thanks

Just curious.

DM2 is fairly simple, closer to DM than CSB.
Much less keys than in CSB, and they remain available in locks so you can grab them back after usage.

Yeah, what Christophe said - you don't lose keys when spending them, as they remain sticking out of the lock so you can retrieve one if you want to prevent a door from being able to be opened/closed (and actually this is quite useful). There are a bunch of puzzles, some using new mechanics and mostly I would say the game isn't super hard...maybe more so than DM in some places but overall quite a bit easier than CSB. It's also surprisingly short, especially if you just get on with trying to complete it and not faffing around in any of the optional side areas. There is one element of "faffing around" that it seems most of us did, based on posts I've seen here in years after first playing the game, which was pretty fun but ultimately probably quite unnecessary for the most part :D.
There are some areas (and on particular aspect of the game which becomes ongoign after a certain point) which are varying degrees of annoying, but the game overall isn't super hard. Some parts may be a little frustrating depending on what happens, but that's about it.
