David R. Darrow died from cancer on May 18, 2025.

I'm very sorry to hear that. One of the many drawbacks about getting older is that you have to witness people you either know personally or admire the work of pass away.

Yeah, people who were around when you were a kid seem to have been around forever, and then suddenly they aren't any more.

Oh my, such sad news. He was a great illustrator and artist and he seemed like a good guy. I regret that I never did get to chat to him about the DM cover art: when I emailed him all those years ago he was very busy with his son's wedding plans and then I didn't follow it up. RIP David, another awesome person taken too soon. :(
