Hello all!
My objective is simple. As I consider the graphics in CSB ugly (in comparison to dungeon master (PC)), I would like to replace several most irritating images of monsters from DM PC.
I have a tool to import and export files from amiga disk format. We have also tools to edit graphics dat files. However, as I know, there may be problems with palettes incompatibility between dungeon master and chaos strikes back. For instance, well-known magenta worms are no longer magenta in chaos strikes back. Instead they are brown/yellowish. It is very ugly to me. They have renamed it to Armoured Worm, but that does make it better either. Also two other monsters - Swamp slime and Water elementals. The last is blue in DM PC, however it is merely transparent, hard to see in CSB version. Renamed to Rive. I do think that these are the same monsters, but represented by different graphics.
Has anyone thought about transferring such graphics or even do we have it done already anywhere by anyone? Does this graphics irritate you as well? I think we should make it. It is really irritating to me.

Re: Transfer graphics from dungeon master
Hello, if you basically want to play CSBWin with DM graphics, then it is already possible since it is packaged for both CSB and DM. You'll just take the DM graphics.dat file and replace the one for CSB.
About how creatures work, it is a little different than what you say. The color palettes are exactly the same between DM and CSB -- 16 colors -- but there are always 2 colors in the palette that can be swapped depending on some creatures that force special colors, like Wizards'Eye (yellow), Water Elemental (blue), Dragon (red) ... That is, even in DM, if you have Magenta Worms and Wizard's Eyes in the same level, the Worms would end up in yellow color (that also depends on some internal order of the creatures list in that level). In the same way, for instance you should be able to have Magenta Armoured Worms in CSB if there are no other creature set in that level.
Rive actually replace the green ghost. Water Elementals do exist the same in CSB as in DM.
