Making an Editor For Return To Chaos

Post by copperman »

I think i could design and maybe help in the production of a Visual Basic Editor if anyone is interested. I always wanted to make an editor for DM/CSB.

There is an editor being made, check further posts for details (it's a long one someone on here i think)

IU'#d just like to reiterate passive support for the ediotor incase it looks like it's been forgotten about

Just busy doing other things to offer any help or ideas, or even check out as much of RTC itself as I'd like!
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

I have not seen anyone continue the other editor for RTC yet.. I think it's been dropped due to lack of interest. It was supposed to be Peyow that was doing it but I've not heard anything since.

I think someone should take it up. or someone should give him a nudge and see if he's still into it.

Same comment I made at a previous editor attempt.

TwinEd is a DM like editor that might give ideas about how to make it simple for the user.
It is available at twinfalls.free.fr

Games is NOT my cup of tea re VB, but Data is. If I can help I would be glad to. As moderator on VBExplorer forums I can probably get help / ideas / advice on any difficult parts.

Graham, www.gab2001uk.com

OK Gab that's what i meant, I think BV is perfect for an editor for RTW, cos it's just a big database really, I designed but never produced an ed years back for the original DM/CSB so if u wanna team up and make this happen I'll be glad to help u design/prduce although i cant code for @#%$, or any other currency for that matter
Unkle Ka5

These are only tools...

I'm amazed that you see something relevant in gab2001uk.
I only see faith about Micro$oft products.
The only tiny relevance is that an editor development needs some sort of data base and some compiler.
Acces and Visual Basic will not do the work for you.
For Windows apps I mostly use Borland C++ builder.

Man after looking through this forum at some of your posts I can only draw one conclusion, either you don't like M$ or you just like to knock other people. I suggested using VB as an obvious database solution, and after scanning through a couple of RTC dungeon files, I still think this is the way to go. If you want to prove us all wrong and make a swanky RTCEd using C++ or whatever, that's kool, but do something other than whine please.
Unkle Ka5

Is it easy to set up Borland C++ on Linux?

I assume you are running on Linux as obviously you would not use the spawn of the devil as your OS, would you?

Graham, www.gab2001uk.com
