GAME: Sound problems using DirectX
just wanted to point out that monster steps and player gulps so far have this fuzz at the beggining of the samples. most other sounds don't seem to be effected.. I haven't gotten far yet though..

the sounds are fine
the sounds in the archive are fine since I don't think George changed the dat files at all.. it's something in the sounds code that is buggering them..

Re: the sounds are fine
I'm glad someone else was able to find this. I have brought this up several times, but it has always stumped George. Apparently the sound code simply calls a DirectX command to play the sound, so once that's been done RTC has no control over it. Windows must be doing something weird...
I did some detective work on this and discovered something werid: If I have MIDI volume muted, some sounds don't play at all - how screwed is that? Everything should be played through the WAV device.
I'm not sure if it follows that the sound being played through MIDI is the sound with distortion on it. I'll check some more.
