If I remeber correctly, the door in the middle of the rat´s level opens, if you pull the lever twice do drop the chest behind the door through the opening pit and close the pit again, then go downstairs to retrieve the green gem and take it upstairs twice to drop it through the pit so it falls behind the barred door, which is supposed to open then.
Yet this doesn´t seem to work here.
Any idea?!?

yes, it SHOULD work liek that, but as everyone always jumped down the pit, i don't know if the green gem activation of the door has been retained in all the various incarnations
