GAME: Wands use up charges rather than holders mana
The Wands aren't working as they did in DM PC. Staffs are using charges to cast spells and now wands do the same, but orginally wands used casters mana to cast the spells, not the charges and were much more ussible.

It depends on what options you use. Simple options like Calm and Heal don't affect the charges but the 'special' options such as Window or Dispell do affect the charges. At least that's how it worked in FTL DM.
I haven't lloked at this in RTC, but what happens on staffs that have multiple options when the charges run out. Does the option disppear from the list (as it should) or does the whole staff vanish (which it shouldn't)?

I agree that this was different in FTL-DM.
It seems, that in RTC almost everything uses charges, at least I remember having emptied a simple wand with heal (although that was some time ago in amuch earlier version).
George, how is this supposed to be?

Yeah, well, but it is different from at least DM-PC (don't have double-checked with Amiga/ST version though), so why does it have to be different in RTC compared to DM-PC?
I found the Mana drain much better than the charge option for amyn an item like a wand for example. Charges seem ok to me for items like a Fury or Flamnit.

No, in the PC version heal (and invoke on the firestaff) used mana. The firestaff casts basic spells, but with more mana you get better spells. I'm not sure the colary of healing to mana with wands, but it's always too much drain for healing compared to a simple vi spell for what you get back, so never used the option..ever
'original-DM' is not a mode, it is only a few minor alterations to the dungeon - a spell book here, a differently abled creature there. The core engine is always the same, so the wand thing does not change dependant on the dungeon.
