best characters are?

Post by Guest »

i prefer vitality and wisdom, which affect regeneration speed at sleeping (most important option in game), and health and mana (second most important...)
so the best chars are:
wu tse
wuuf
chani
boris
gando
eliya
One I forgot, but dont ask me, whom.
my usual party is wuuf+chani (the best one would be TOO easy)
my best values at the end:
2nd master fighter
1st master ninja
2nd master priest
3rd master wizard
689 health
who cares stamina?
207 mana

What makes a best character

Post by Seeker19 »

What I've thought makes a best character has changed over the years...nowadays I think it's the stamina. But in the past I've preferred vitality, mana, strength, even the character portrait!

The reason I favor stamina so much is that it helps when running around the dungeon, and every other stat in the game has a clear relationship to gaining certain kinds of levels so as to increase the stat to however high you want it.

mana rules

Post by Guest »

the most important for a char is, as i think, the mana regeneration...affected by wisdom and by the char itself...some of them reg mana steadily (and very fast) when sleeping, others dont..wu tse and boris seem to regenerate mana very quick, wuuf is also good (i completed the game about 20 times with Wuuf in my party)

to stamina: i sleep many, because i cast like hell

I have to agree with stamina, as I don't sleep too much (if at all - mainly during the start of one player games). so the more I can keep fighting or moving without having to start downing YA potions, the better.

Wisdom, is best too, as in governing the learning of spells, and quick learning of priest spells leads to a good compromise of stamina and mana boosts

wisdom

Post by Guest »

so i am the only one who sleeps?
wisdom doest affect learning spells, only indirectly by increased mana regeneration rate. you will know this if you war cry at the first screamer, halk gets his priest level after exactly the same amout of cries than chani or wu tse.

sleeping?

Post by dmologist »

I infact oringally use to sleep... but orignally... i was very bad and well died of hunger... I played differently back then.

but honestly why do you sleep? I mean if wisdom ect does those tihngs... how does sleeping make any difference? you regain mana automatticly if your pressed for time save and quit... otherwise why not just war crying or punching while waiting for mana to recharge.
I might have noticed a connection between "water" and stamina but still.

oh the conneciton. I tihnk(still yet to prove) when our stamina is very low and your like punching or something alot your water goes down quicker. sorta like fatague\sweating.

I sleep. I pick characters without even looking at their stats. Just whatever I'm in the mood for them to look like.

Though, on the PC if I played, I'd play based on stats and edit the pics.

the character i forgot is Tiggy Tamal, the pixie thing.
also a good choice are:
Mophus (the priest)
Alex (the bandit)
Gothmog (the hooded guy)
Hissssa (as mule)
and Syra (elven girl)
maybe Nabi...
if you need stamina, the worst choice is Linflas (he doesnt regenarate this at all, must be sorta ill, that elven dude)
as you can see, i have created nicknames for all characters, if you wanna hear them all, i'll post them here (they are all as creative as these one, so maybe not).

some words to hunger: what do you think are these screamer things for? lateron, you even encounter edible rats...

Hunger, the evil killer....

Post by beowuuf »

On DM hunger is no problem, but some other dungeons are very evil that way...there is nothing worse than getting hungry and thirsty, with all magic poured into keeping everyone in decent stamina ranges, limiting your sleeping and wandering around time, and also making everyone slower and more likely to take no stamina damage in combat.

Man, that gives me an idea for a 'prison' DM level...characters start up locked in a prison, no weapons/armour, low health and food, and have to fight their way to freedom...hmmm....

Hmm, I have this other idea for a dungeon set in a park, with reanimated dinosaurs....

Seriously I had this idea for a dungeon where you would get choices from grouped parties...choice of an all mage party, all fighter, or a few balanced parties

What would people think of/prefer as natural party groups

Example - the mildew wuuf/gando/tiggy/boris seems the perfect magical party,

next idea

Post by Guest »

what do you think about making a dungeon in teamwork...each one adds 1 level...would be a nice experience (but maybe even better with RTC)..
i have just finished my 2nd dungeon, 1 more BETA test and you will get it... next one will be something like a theme park dungeon, my plan isnt clear atm...

to the grouped party: easy, just make some doors at the beginnig, closing behind and forcing to take these 4 guys...but i always take my favorites now (no more time wasting with azizi, leif and other crappy chars) and i wouldnt choose a group with one of those lamers

I prefer a party with 2 tough guys in the front, who have lots of hit points to take the brunt of the enemie´s assault and some strength and maybe some dex to deal out heavy damage and wear heavy armor, so they´ll get kinda berzerking tanks later on.
For the rear ranks I prefer 2 able spellcasters with lots of Mana and maybe some wis too, so they´ll be able to cure and blast as much as possible.
So my choice is:
1) Daroou
2) Hissssa
3) Wuuf
4) Tiggy
If you really use the given ressources and possibilities finally all characters will reach the same level in all classes, but with different basic stats, so I prefer specialists who become allrounders rather then the other way round.
Concerning sleep: If you sleep just because your Mana is out, you waste your given ressources and possibilities, for you could as well go on and use your physical abilities while Mana is regenerating and thus train your characters fighter & ninja levels. If your stamina is getting low, a Ya-potion is absolutely ok. You should sleep only, if your Mana and either your health or stamina or both are low and if you want to enter a difficult place like the Oitus´ room or the demon´s lair.
Parting is all we know from Heaven, and all we need of hell.
