I like my front fighters to hold a shield in their left hand. It lookks nice, but, do i really get protection from shields.
Are the white and black heroe's shields the best ?
About FIR BRO NETA spells.
Is the strenght LO / FUL making the shield less / more effective ? or it only affects duration.
Is casting more than one FIR BRO NETA usefull adding shielding power ?
What about other shieldings: spell shield against Magic, potion shield against Fire, potion shield against Magic.
Are they other shielding i forgot ?

Re: Wondering about shields
I'd guess shields add a small number onto whatever internal armour factor exists in the game
it probably doesn't amount to too much cxmpared to having high fighters holding a flask for speed
I'd guess the lyte/darc have upped armour...interesting to see if anyone tinkering with the csb4win code has fgound out the effects of things like helms and shields
You can see it more in missiles, but the higher the spell, the largeer it starts
All spells then degrade over time, to become weaker versions until they fizzle. SO higher versions last longer and are better (also, a LO cast by a high level character is more powerful than a LO cast by low level...there are ranges withing each power rune)
Yes, FUL BRO NETA shields are great, high level priests casting MON level make your party immune to low level fireballs for a while
YA IR shields also show a definite armour advantage..stand next to a golem with and without...
I don't know if fire shileds combine ...i'd guess there would be an upper internal limit to firew resisitence, and the most powerful shield takes the party there anyway (like casting multiple light spells)

Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

Shielding.
Thanks: my shielding skills will improve.
It never occured to me that a high power FIR BRO NETA was loosing power over time.
I understand now, that I got low protection from strong spells that had aged too much. Well... To be dependable, a full power FIR BRO NETA spell should be renewed much before it is over.
I never tried YA IR to protect from Golems, I imagined their clubs look too material to go anti magic.
Cheers.

Re: Wondering about shields
np...YA IR is a physical shield, not a magical shield (you can only cast them in DM with a teowand) so it works well against golems and knights that you might need to stand up to longer

Shield spells do combine
When you cast multiple shield spells (FUL BRO NETA or YA IR, doesn't matter) the effect is cumulative. There is no absolute limit, but there is a diminishing return.
And yes, the spells do degrade in power over time, although it is not linear for the shield spells. The shields retain close to full power for at least the first half of the life of the spell. The drop-off in power accelerates as the spell reaches the end of its life cycle.

Re: Shield spells do combine
Although FTL´s Adventurers Handbook states, that there is spell-shield potion (YaBro) which is supposed to create a dashed light blue line around the character´s box and a physical shield (YaIr) that creates a dashed blue line around characters´boxes, this is not the case, for both are physical shields with simple blue dashed lines as markers.
The shield spell has the advantage of shielding the entire party. I guess, the potion is stronger in effect as ZoVen is also more damaging than OhVen, but I don´t know for sure.
Spell-shields marked by a dashed light blue line can indeed only created by magic items such as the Theowand.
PS: The fire syllable is "Ful", not "Fir".
