Somebody said that they had got the sound working in DM in DOS mode by getting the DOS drivers for the Sound Blaster Live (which is what I have) from the soundblaster web site. Well, when I search for DOS drivers for the Soundblaster Live, it can't find any.
Windows Millennium doesn't have native DOS support, so I've created a duel boot system with DOS and Windows using System Commander. I boot into native DOS, run a DOS game and it says it can't find a soundcard whatever IRQ and Interrupts I put in. I guess I need DOS drivers, but where do I get them?

That was probably me, however I must clarify, I didn't say I got the sound working from the drivers I d/l from SB's site. I got it working from the dos drivers Gambit sent me. I *THOUGHT* dos drivers were included in the drivers I d/l from the SB site but appearantly they weren't. I think it sucks that SB no longer have dos druivers for their cards. They're a pain in the arse to get. You might wanna kindly ask Gambit for them

Re: DOS sound drivers
At the moment, the situation is that I'm using my old machine (with a duel boot) for DOS games. When I enable the on-board sound card, I get sound and music in some games but can't get speech in things like Ultima Underworld. It says "detected" against the sound blaster for music, but "not detected" against speech.
When I disable the on-board soundcard and use the Sound Blaster Live instead, it can't see it at all.
I am actually now getting sound in DM with the on-board card, but if I can get drivers to make it work with the Sound Blaster live as well as speech, all my games will be happy
So, Gambit, pretty please with knobs on can I have those sound drivers (and theres something I haven't said for twenty-five years!)

Re: DOS sound drivers
I can send them to you, but note that the drivers I have are for the AWE32/64 and I don't know if they work with the SB Live. I'm sure there's no harm in trying though, but obviously I can't be held responsible for anything you might do to your machine if you choose to use them.
I'm replying from work, so I'll send them to you within the next day from home. Cheers.

Re: DOS sound drivers
I´ve got a similar problem: I´m using an VIA AC´97 onboard sound (Hardware version 32) with Win98 (Version 04.10.199
on an Athlon AMD1 (100x10Mhz).
When I try to start DM1 from Win98 I got all options (VGA/Mouse/Sound Blaster) but after choosing those the task ends complaining that the prog will run only in pure DOS mode.
When I create a link to reboot the prog in pure DOS or better create a batch file with uploading MSMouse.exe first and use it, the prog works fine, but only opts to use PC Speaker sound which works fine (when I use a boot disk instead I can also choose PC Speaker but then the game begins with the message "No Sound").
The Problem is, that I only ever get sound via the internal PC Speaker with a very low volume and absolutly no sound out of the external speaker.
When I try to install the DOS drivers provided on the VIA site, I always get the error "Please enable Legacy of Sound Blaster in BIOS first", whether it is enabled or not.
There seem to be many users complaining about that very same problem on th VIA forum, but no solution is provided by VIA (only very incompetent suggestions for solution).
Please, can anyone help me or has any clue what to do about it?!? I´d be very grateful for any support!

Duel Boot (win98se &DOS6.22) and SB Live!
Hey all,
I've got a duel boot system (using System Commander 7) with Win98SE and DOS6.22. I've got a soundblaster live! gamer card and can't get the sound working in DOS6.22
I've tried the drivers for the SB16 and for the AWE64, but under 6.22, it can't find my card (I've also tried using the PnP mgr as suggested by creative).
Anyone have any ideas? Do I need to modify my autoexec or config files before installing? If anyone could help me out, I'd be grateful. I'm trying to get back the classics, without building an old 486 that is.
Thanks in advance,
Geoffrey
