Looking for FTL?

Post by cowsmanaut »

FTL it seems is very much alive and kicking.. Our dear friend mister Wayne Holder has his own website up and on it he has a single level of a dungeon master (Java) game.
Those of you thinking of making clones.. best be sure you don't use anything he could sue you for.. whether you make money from it or not he has it under copyright still and could sue if he chose.
Don't worry though there are enough generic things in DM that can't be copy righted.. so unless you are using the actual symbols/walls/or monsters *Directly* from them game (As opposed to making your own versions of them) you are in danger.
That URL is WWW.2nu.com/wayne/index.html

Alive and kicking? hahahaha
the www.2nu.com site had much more content a year ago, they even had a page about their games including Dungeon Master. It's interersting to note that Doug Bell had a page there too, but it vanished last summer.
Wayne also have a site at www.ftlgames.com, but it seems to be down now. No info about their games there though.

The page is not down. You obviously didn't try to actually get to it - you just copied the link, and thought, that doesn't work :-)
The link is not correct. If you remove the directory name, as most people would do if a URL didn't work straight away, and go to the root of the site you will find that the only thing there is a link to Waynes page. When you go to the page you will find that the only thing wrong with the URL posted in the previous message is that it didn't have capital letters in the right place!

yes well, the last update of it seems to be 12/7/99. I also noticed there seemed to be potential space for other pages on themain root.
I think it's a good possibility that wayne is still doing things and is still maintaining the FTL trade mark as well as copyright on his baby "Dungeon Master".
I'm sure if anyone realised potential left in DM it would be him. Who knows maybe he's waiting to find someone to help make and publish annother.
Or could be waiting devine intervention.. a sudden idea. Either way... It hasn't yet died as many I've heard say.
So yeah, maybe not alive and kicking, but at least convulsing. :)
cheers.
