A question that has been on my mind for a while: since I'm continuously (though not regularly) re-playing custom-made dungeons (downloads from the encyclopedia) I was wondering if there is any method to either convert dungeons that are only delivered as saved games to either a DM for PC-dungeon that could be converted by script or directly to a CSBwin dungeon.
I'd very much like to play through what is available, but CSBwin has proven to be my best choice, mainly because I cannot get the sounds to work on DM for PC and the movement keys are awful to use on a notebook. So - if you have suggestions or ideas, I'd be glad to her them.
Possibly, those who made dungeons that only exist as save game files and not as dungeon.dat still have those dat's - if it's only about forcing one or more certain characters, this can be done in a dungeon.dat as well and it would be accessible for more than just DM for PC...

Ah yes, one more - the dungeons I found that only exist as saved games as far as I know - to be found at the encyclopedia (http://dmweb.free.fr/):

Dungeon Master .. Again! by Sphenx is a dungeon.dat, but I could not play
it with CSBwin 9.6a - anyone experienced something similar ?

Well, I picked the first one: Alternate 1.051.
I loaded it in CSBuild with "Allow Clones" set.
I saved it as CSBGame.dat.
Then I ran it with CSBwin for just a few moments.
So it kinda, sorta works at least.
So what is your problem? The clones can never be fixed
without GREAT effort. If they are the problem then you
have a large job ahead of you. But whatever your problem
is, perhaps it is easy to fix. I cannot fix it unless it is
reported to me and I don't think I have seen this dungeon
reported.

My problem is that if I convert it like you said both CSBwin 9.6 and 9.6a cause the engine to crash as soon as I try to move or after a few seconds. Maybe that means I have the wrong set of files (mini.dat, etc...) but I don't think so - I compared them to my archive which is in the same state as I downloaded it from your hp.
So the issue is: I cannot play it with CSBwin. So far there were no reports on that from me because I just looked up the dungeons I could not play today after trying - I wanted to know if I did something wrong (looks like it, since you succeeded) or if this was not possible in general.

Correction. With the "Allow clones" checked it seems to work. Did not know that this was how to do it, so thanks for the information. Clones were not the object - and the other problems reported by CSBuild can be "cleaned" one by one in each dungeon (illegal stairs etc...) I will try the dungeons I posted up there and let you know if I have any more problems. Enjoy your vacation!

As I started my dungeon when i first came to the community, there are no hex tricks/vicious dungeon twisting as I tried after in unreleased ones. Any clones (of which there are a few) only exist to get round the limitations of the engine, not for any mechaincal reason
I realised after this dungeon to start with a dungeon.dat file, so other characters could be inserted easily, but this one was only ever in save game format - in my defense it makes playtesting and checkign the mechaincs so much easier, as i could just flip back and forth between game and dmute. Never had a crash doing this!
