You mean the one from the Chest that also contains a scroll saying 'Put the Gem Back'? I think this was a weird puzzle, it never really made sense to me. If you place the gem on the floor in front of the gate where you find this chest, it'll open the gate. But there's also a green gem switch on the wall that opens the gate. I think they probably meant for the green gem switch to be a gem hole that turns in to a switch when the gem is put in it...

Yeah, definitely it either was planned for something, or a red herring from the start, but whatever it is 100% certain it doesn't do anything now.

Hey, it might explain why there was that second pit, if the idea was the gem would create the green gem hole to get back. If you dropped the chest and left it on the level below and wanted to get back, you would need to jump down the second pit to get to the chest room to recover it...

Or, maaaaybe it was telling you the solution to the puzzle..in order to 'put the gem back' to the spot it was at, you would need to drop down the pit above while making sure that floor was restored...just a thought : )

OH MY GOD!

I think Sundeep's surreal response has given me an epiphany : )
Also, I never knew the green gem really did open the door if placed infront of the door! Do you know, I never noticed all the times I check it out in DMute. Well, THAT explains the pit (you can't throw the gem through the grate to open it). Instead, to 'put the gem back' you need to throw the gem down the pit above! Rather than what I have done every single time I've played and throw the whole party down! And so the green gem bit is actually a cool three level puzzle to work out, and that green gem button is just a secondary switch incase poeple climb down/jump down the pit.

I really hope that anyone from FTL never sees this thread.

'So, they've played this game on and off for 15 years, discuss it on sites, and yet...never got the Green Gem bit? Riiight. Next thing you know they'll say they still go for the 'fuse Chaos' ending...'

So Sundeep, what did o_0 mean? (needs new mystery after the green gem thing has been solved : ) )
