15 years old mystery
I don't know how many times I've played Dungeon Master. I know all the creatures, traps, puzzles and spells. But, there is this scroll that I never understood its meaning and it has always been a mystery to me. I've always had a printout of this scroll in my wallet, hoping that I'd get an answer one day.
The scroll says,
"Grynix
Ernum quey ki
Skebow rednim
U os dey
Wefna enocarn
Aquantana".
Anyone knows? Don't ask me where I found this scroll, I don't remember :)

Re: 15 years old mystery
You sure that isn't in CSB? Just..I've gone through every single square of Dungeon Master on the Atari ST and the PC..both..and never come across the scroll.
Re: 15 years old mystery
It's possible you have corrupted files in your game. I've never seen that scroll, and all of the scrolls I have found have either real words or the spell symbol names in them.
Re: 15 years old mystery
It's available in the Atari version of CSB, in a chest somewhere outside the knight's room off of the 'No fireballs' area, I believe.
No one has ever figured it out, or said if there was anything to figure out, but it's not your imagination. You can download CSB 4 windows, view the main mini.dat dungeon file through DMute, and see the area (5, 29, 8)

Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!
CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

*Phew* I'm not crazy then :)
I was sure it was Dungeon Master, but perhaps I was wrong.
Thanks!

Sounds like something either Mikey or Andy would have come up with....probably Mike. Not sure where he is at these days.

Dennis, do you think you could get in touch with them (or at least Andy Jaros) and ask if they have any clue about this old "Mystery of the CSB gibberish scroll".

Dear Lyverbe,
The scroll you mention is a red herring. I seem to remember that in some obscure copy of amiga format or some such magazine that the scroll was placed within the atari version to allow the entry of the magic map in the amiga version that followed, the programming was easier for subsequent games. That is C.S.B. I hope this helps.

Re: 15 years old mystery
To have one normal scroll-item more or less does not make it easier to implement the magic map functionality in the program code. I do not think, that this assumption has any truth.

Re: 15 years old mystery
As I said when this came up in another thread, that is complete rubbish. The magic Map was added in Amiga CSB because FTL received complaints from ST CSB players that the game was too hard!
