How do I change mirror images?

Post by Christopher »

I've made 12 new champions so far using Dmute and I would like to know if there is a way to have them to choose from in the beginning of the game. I have made their portraits, I have stats ready to assign to them as well as items, I just need to know how to get them to be champions to choose from. Would this require a whole new program to be made up? Would there be any internal statistic factors I would have to assign (like Luck)?

Zyx has progressed most with decoding the character information hidden in the character pads in the dungeon but so far his programme textmute only lets you alter the big three stats and names...
So the short answer is yes, a new programme is needed, and until then you would have the edit the hex of the dungeon yourself, if you can find the right bit or if someone can share thier knowledge with you...

Text Mute wont work for me. I've downloaded it several times and each time I try to run it, I get the following error message... Component 'LOMDLG32.0CX' not correctly registered: file is missing or invalid. I imagine that there is no problem with Text Mute so is it safe to assume the problem is with my computer, or can it be fixed?

Textmute is very limited anyway, you won't be able to change the graphics. I was working on changing the graphics, so if this is what you had in mind, contact me, send me the new portraits and tell me which heroe they should replace, and I'll send you a graphics.dat whith the new portraits.
bprieu@yahoo.com

You may try to contact Sphenx (=Guillaume Bastard, the author of a new DM Editor) as he certainly can change all the stats,.
gb_sphenx@hotmail.com

Or you could Dmute a Dmsave.dat instead of a dungeon.dat in order to edit the preselected team. (But then players won't be able to choose their heroes)

Do I have to have portraits to replace all the current Dm heros, or could I have a dungeon that only has ten or so heros to choose from? Also, is there any way to get the advanced Dm hero portraits or CSB portraits to replace all the regular ones? Is there any way to get the DM2 hero portraits downloaded to replace Dm hero portraits through a Dmsave.dat?

Can't find a page for downloading LOMDLG32.OCX. The webpage Simon mentioned only had .DLL files, and I need a .OCX file. Beowuuf, can you help me?

Are you sure it's not Comdlg32.0cx? That's the one i have anyway...i'll post it at:

www.dmjump.net/patches/comdlg32.zip

if not, be aware that the 0 is a zero in the name, not the letter 'O' for web searches

Is it up yet? I keep getting error messages when I try to download it. Thanks for letting me know about the "Zero", that helps. The symbol between the d and g is an L and not a one right? Either way, I still get an error message.

Oh, and ijcase you didn't realise, you need to place it directly into your windows/system folder, NOT into the textmute folder

Yes!!!!!!!!! It Works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'll probably have to redo my entire dungeon that I have finished making. Oh well. Well worth it. Thanks Beowuuf! BTW, off the subjest of mirrors, is there any way to hex edit a dungeon tile to have a fluxcage in it. I want to fill the Chaos level with false fluxcages to make it a bit more difficult. I tryed the hex for a normal fluxcage, which makes it so you can't even load the game so that didn't work. Has this been done before?

Nope, sorry
These are incidental timing spell effects...
The hex you are using, 3c i'd guess, is just for a spell effect..but as you don't have the effect generated, crash city.

It could be possible, but requires more editing ability that DMute allows...there must be a way, but not now...

Portraits

Only replace the heroes you want, the other ones will keep their old portraits, and in the dungeon only make avalaible the heroes you want. (Delete or make inaccessible the others.)

> Also, is there any way to get the advanced Dm hero portraits or CSB >portraits to replace all the regular ones?
Yes, though there will have some palette problems. The "Graphreader" should do that, but for now it's yet too messy to be released as it.

>Is there any way to get the DM2 hero portraits downloaded to replace >Dm hero portraits through a Dmsave.dat?
Easier as the portraits of your team in a Dmsave.dat are not encoded. But there are no editor for the moment!

Not working for now, but still planning to.
I'm leaving my country in a few hours (going to France), and I'll have exams till june. After that I plan to crack the atari compression and allow to save new graphics. It should be working in August.

According to Textmute, my new champions have to have the same number of characters in thier name as other DM champions. Most of my champions don't match and I don't want their names altered so is there any way this can be changed?

If you're patient enough, you will get quite soon a tool that allows to change all texts as you want, they will be created intead of replaced, then you will have the proper names you want.
But I fear this tool will not allow you to change portraits, .. in its beginning of life at least.
