green and orange gem

Post by Daniel »

There are 2 green gems and an orange one in the dungeon, but what for? Do they open any doors or secrets like the blue gems do (level 02: there's one GEM shaped keyhole - level 05: you can use the blue gem, gold coin, bow and mirror to get the extra key)?
But the green and orange gem?
And what about this Magnifier?

In Dungeon Master, the Green and Orange gems have no purpose.

In CSB, the orange gem is used in two places that I recall: one is a pressure pad on the top level that generates Zytaz--if you carry the gem, it doesn't activate. The other is in the place where you find the orange gem near the antmen/spinner puzzle. If you pick up the gem and step forward, the wall ahead opens revealing a useful weapon against the non-material beings in the adjacent room.

That's not true: The green gem does have a use in DM: if you drop the green gem through the pit 07/21/12, the door at 08/21/13 (rat's level) will open, so you can walk through the door unharmed instead of jumping down the pit.

I am really tired of seeing the same questions over and over again. I'll make it simple for you. Orange Gem does nothing in Dungeon Master. Green Gem can open the door in the Rat area that has the chest on the other side and has a wall lever that opperates a pit. As for the magnifier, come on. The same question was posted like a week ago. It's on the same forum page. You don't even have to click on older messages. Does anyone bother reading any of the older messages to see if their question has been answered before? At least this person didn't also ask about the Hellion, or Ekkhard Cross, or Rabbits Foot...
If these questions aren't on the FAQ section, I strongly urge you CHRISTOPHE to add them!

Does the Gem of Ages do anything? Sorry, only joking...

That was quite a vent of anger there Christopher, I bet that poor fellow never comes back again!!!

And I do not think that he deserves that anger. On the contrary, I think that this type of anger in a forum is more annoying than any question posed no matter how silly.

I agree. While it may be frustrating for "old hands" to see the same questions come up over and over, don't forget that there are new players finding this site all the time. They don't necessarily know net or forum etiquette, so it's down to us to either (a) grin and bear the question, and answer it or (b) point them to the correct place to find the answer. Also, don't forget that not everyone has unlimited time or even the interest to spend browsing through pages and pages of messages; they just want the info quick and simple.

(b) is the best option, and supports Christophers point that these things should be added to the FAQ.

Oh, and BTW, I stated that the Green Gem had no use in DM because you can get past that puzzle without using it.

Well, as someone new to these boards, I'd like to apologize for asking anything that you feel is redundant. I honestly looked through a bunch of old threads before posting my questions, and I really didn't intend to bug anyone. I checked the maps, item lists, adventurer's guide, and walkthrough since I didn't want to ask something that was easily answered on the site. There's a lot that *isn't* discussed in the walkthrough, particularly... Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you're really that sick of seeing repetitive questions, why not write your own? Then you could direct everyone to that. And it would be very useful for people like me who could really use the answers. I'm sure a bunch of people here know plenty about the game and could contribute... hell, I would, but I need to finish it first.

I have been writing my own questions. In fact I've had two questions in my head for awhile, but I haven't posted them because I think they're dumb questions (not that I haven't posted dumb questions before). However, I'll give it a shot.

@Celine: It is a forum, so there are no redundant questions. Anyone asking is worth being given an answer, although I can understand that some questions might be uninteresting for old timers - but they can just skip them, right? ;)

@ Christopher: There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers. Pose them.

To celine - if you check even a couple of posts, then you shouldn't be getting flak - and you didn't ask about CSB for PC so there you go! : )

I have a rumour page at http://www.dmjump.net/jumpsite/items.htm if it helps with any other common questions
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

I have read them, but unfortunately I cannot answer them by knowledge. I would guess from experience, that lightning is weakened by anti-magic. Personally, I use to combine the party shield with the fire shield for stronger opponents like demons and it seems to decrease the power of the attacks, but that is to be verified. The fireshield definitely helps when facing dragon attacks and being slow ;)
