Greeting DM- fellow fans!
This may be a strange question, but I have asked myself the question if it is possible to make a Soundemulator for these old games that should work with the modern sound that windows uses. For example: Eye of the Beholder 2 worked fine for me some months ago, sound and everything, and I played it under Windows. Unfortunately something broke (besides my heart) and the sound disappeared. The problem seems to be that the game still used some kind of sound that is used in dos. What I mean is that all these ports seems to use some other sound since they work!!! Would it be impossible to make some sort of emulator that translated the old sound so that these games work under windows (sounds I mean then). Myself is not a computer genius so I understand if some of you shake your heads when you hear this questions.

Re: Is there any sound emulator!
It's a real problem, a lot of DOS games fail because of the sound.
Windows is supposed to directly emulate this, but it doesn't work!
What's more, it depends on your system: your BIOS, your soundcard...
One day, there will be an explicit emulator under Windows for Dos games.

Re: Is there any sound emulator!
I Hope you are right Wil (about the emulator)!
Yes it is a real problem. I must ask: Is it normal that the sounds suddenly quit working? I use Win95 and XP on my 1,4 Gig machine and under Win95 I could play most of these games with sound. Then some months ago the sound disappeared and has not yet returned. The Store said that its normal since the computer is not built to work with dos. Is this really true????? It sounds like a lot of Bull to me.....
Thanks in advance!

THe post monster strikes again. :-)
Unfortunantly it is. Newer computers and windows software been trying to get rid if dos ever since alot of users said that "dos is too hard to use." forgot where I got this from though but that's the reason that's been floating around for some time.

Re: Is there any sound emulator!
If anyone is interested, I found a DOS emulator that claims to also emulate a sound blaster or adlib environment.
Might be worth checking out.
