I´ll be damned!

You were right Simon, it really works!!!!! Im eternal grateful!

I could play some of my old favourite games again: Eye of the Beholder 1+2 and Ishar 1+2. It took me some time to understand the instructions but it was definitly worth the effort.
Unfortunatelly I couldnt get Dm+DM2 to work, nor Captive. What version did you use to of the emulator?

Thanks again!

One Idea though!

If it is possible to make these games work with such small programs, shouldnt it then be possible to just make some additional things to these old games so that they work without effort - I mean just make a new start.exe file that does all these adjustments. Then it wouldnt be necessary to rewrite the games (Although I prefere the real winports made by mr Paul Stevens and George Gilbert, they feel more safe though...). Well just an Idea!

When I launch dosbox with DM, it remains on the swoosh screen and that's all. What's wrong?

Hello Sphenx!

Im sorry to say, but I didnt get DM to work either. It seems like the emulator only gets some games to work, and every game is a luxuary.
Mayby Simon has done something special, I dont know. My efforts though gave me Eye of the Beholder1+2 and Ishar1+2 back (and some other games). I suspect that Simon used an older version of the Emulator, guess its like Chaos Strikes back and the Pacifist043 version, it has its own favourite. I have not yet had the time to test all the versions (I have only tested 0.55 yet).
But the emulator works so dont give up on it. I have tried one of the other emulators "DodGe!, but with that one I couldnt get anything to work so I think that DosBox is one of the best - for me it has worked plenty well.
Sorry that I could not help!

I manage to see the main dungeon door screen, when you choose a new game or resuming, but nothing happens after : (
Did someone get it to work?

My mistake, I got the swoosh with sound and went straight here and posted the above without seeing if the rest of the game worked, lol.

I guess I was too eager to let you guys know :)

I'm glad it works with some other games though so this find is not completely useless! Who knows, maybe with some tweaking we can get it to work!

Mmh .. so it still doesn't work. You can get in front of the starting door if you delete/rename these files: "swoosh", "title" and "anim".
You could at least listen to the music! but you still can't play : (

They released a new version of DOS BOX today. Dungeon Master now loads. I have only had one problem so far. The mouse seems to double click when you click once at times. So you end up doing a 180 degree turn instead of a 90 degree some of the time.

Let me know if anyone besides me has this mouse problem.

No-one uses the mouse to move around! AHHH!!

I can see it being a problem with spells though.....

I have same problem but only if the screen size is big, or full-screen. It seems to work perfectly if you keep the original size. At least for me.

Speaking about the DosBox: It's not exactly a DM-related question, but, does anyone know how to make EOB1 save a game? I've downloaded EOB1 at http://www.dgroms.com/roms/oldPC.htm and used the DosBox V0.56 and also mounted a directory as floppy a: and put the eobdata.sav there, but when I try to save, the game complains, that it can't find the eobdata.sav and then exits.
Any idea?

The version i have doesn't need a floppy...not sure if it's the same as yours
With mine (through normal dos) it was just a case of save and carry on

Hello Lunever!

I have also tried EOB1 in dosbox (used 0.55), but my version saves without problems to. You must have found some strange version of the game. I also use the game on WinUAE and there is saves on one of the disks (I need no blank disk), the original PC-version just had to be installed on the hard disk and should the by it self contain the needed files. EOB1 does have one shortcomming though, its only possible to have one savegame (if you dont start moving and transfeering files).
Try to just install it, there should be no extra efforts needed, and if it does there is something funny going on with your version. You can download the Amiga version from Classic-Trash, the graphics and sound is exelent (EOB2 is much better on PC though, but EOB1 is just perfect).

Good Luck!

you have to mount the directories or drives you want it to see
the readme explains the command

After you open the door, you don't have any characters... you have to resurrect/reincarnate them from the mirrors up the passageway.
