Follow this guide:
You need a fast PC by the way. Ideally 1Ghz or better but I use a Athlon 600 and it seems to run ok.

RAM: 512k; Slow: 512k
ROM: Kickstart 1.3
CPU: 68000; Match A500 Speed;
Sound: Enabled 100% Accurate;Stereo;Interpolation Disabled;44100Hz
Display: 320x256; Full Screen; Doubled
Chipset: OCS; Fast Copper; Sprites Collision Level
OpenGL: This is optional to make the graphics blended (No pixels)
Game and I/O Ports: PC Mouse in Port 0 and PC Joystick 0 in Port 1
Floppies: Put your ADF into DF0; Floppy Speed to 100% Compatible

Once this is setup go to configurations and save it as a new filename. Put your Dungeon Master disk into where it says Floppies->DF0: and then press on OK. The game should then load. Use the save game disk off of this site to save your game.

In RAM I did Chip 512K and Slow 512K
In Display I did 320 by 240 (it was the closest option)
In floppies I left DF0 as the only enabled drive
Everything else was the same so I saved it.

When I selected this configuration all I got was the top right quarter of the workbench prompt screen and when I put my DM disk in the floppy drive nothing happened.

Look on the DM downloads page on this site, there is a complete guide. Follow it step by step and you should be able to play.

Christophe, I already tried to use the PC version with no luck, hence my attempts to get WinUAE working. Steve..

Christophe means the Dungeon Master Downloads page Here:

http://dmweb.free.fr/DMDownloads.htm

Scroll down and you'll find the Amiga Dungeon Master underneath the PC version. Simple!

As for WinUAE only showing the top right corner that's my bad. The Display settings should read like this:

Display: 320x240+16bit; Full Screen; Lo-Res; Horizontal+Vertical Centering; Normal Line Mode;Refresh Every Frame

If you're using WinUAE for the first time you also need to press on the "Detect 16-bit Pixel Format" button so WinUAE can detect your graphics card.

Another thing. You don't need your Workbench disk to play Dungeon Master. Just boot from your Dungeon Master disk. Have fun!

Steve B,

I now get a perfect Workbench prompt screen but when I put my old amiga DM disk in the floppy drive nothing happens.

Doh. My bad again. I guess you want a completely idiot proof guide. Ok then. You CANNOT use REAL Amiga disks in the PC floppy drive. The PC cannot read Amiga disks. What you have to do is download a file called an ADF. ADF stands for Amiga Disk File and is the same size as a normal Amiga disk (880k). You can't use REAL Amiga Disks with WinUAE. They have GOT to be ADF files. You can download an ADF of Dungeon Master from this site as has been said about 5 times now!! I'll provide a direct link for you so it's impossible for you to get lost:

http://dmweb.free.fr/Downloads/DungeonMasterAmiga.rar

Copy this line into your Address bar and press the ENTER key. It will begin downloading. You will need a tool called WinRAR to unpack it. You can find that at this webpage:

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Use the Dungeon Master ADF with WinUAE and it WILL work.

All of a sudden a whole bunch just fell into place, I had the idea that I was able to use my old amiga disks. Is there any way I can transform the data on them into an adf file or are they of no use to me at all.

Steve please tell me that you've managed to play Dungeon Master on WinUAE!! :P

You can still use your old Amiga disks. They are not totally useless. There is a tool which I use called Amiga Explorer. You'll find it here:

http://cloanto.com/amiga/explorer/

With this superb tools you can transfer your Amiga disks onto a PC using a serial cable. You'll need an adapter so the cable will plug into the PC serial port. To transfer you'll obviosly need a real Amiga to transfer the files across to your PC. Also if you have any games which have copy protection and they come up as NDOS disks or df0????? on the Amiga side you won't be able to transfer these disks to the PC. You'll just have to search for a cracked ADF file of the game on the Internet. The original Dungeon Master disk does have copy protection so you won't be able to make an ADF out of it. I know cos I've already tried with my original Dungeon Master disk. Stuff like Workbench disks and some games will be able to transfer to your PC. I've already transfered a lot of stuff from my Amiga into ADF files using Amiga Explorer. I managed to successfully transfer my Dungeon Master save disk from years ago using Amiga Explorer. You can even transfer your original Amiga ROM across to your PC which I've also done. AE is very handy piece of software. Highly recommended!

Interesting... I have an external amiga floppy disk drive, is there any way I can use that with my PC or do I have to plug my entire amiga in?

It has to be an entire Amiga. Preferably an Amiga 1200. The reason being is because Amiga Explorer comes with a piece of software that needs to be run through Workbench on the Amiga side so that it can talk to your PC. You can't attach Amiga external disk drives to your PC either! Also if you've only got an external floppy disk drive where would you plug the other end of the serial cable? :P

It is not possible to read Amiga floppies with a PC floppy drive. But it is possible with two PC floppy drives!!
