"save disk damaged" message - yikes!

hi,,

i was playing DM on the latest verison of WinUAE, clicked on "save to DF1:", the message said "saving game" as usual. But then it just stuck there, displaying this message, not returning to the game. I had to close WinUAEand reload, and it said that my disk image is "damaged" and won't load......

I know its a long shot but :

1) has anyone had this problem and if so do you know a way to remedy / avert it, and

2)is there a way to recover my save position from the said "damaged disk"

I do backup my files before each use but guess which time i forgot to do so.....

Sorey but you will need to use a new disk.
