Sure, just let us know when you need help (although I personally am not an expert in WinXP, I still stick to Win98, but there are enough people here, who might offer help).
So where are you going to for holidays?

Hi ... I'm more of a lurker than a regular poster here, but I'm definitely female and I'm definitely a gamer. I'm of the younger generation - some of my best times as a little kid (think about 4-8 years old here) were spent with my sister and my dad, playing DM and a bunch of other things on our ST. Thanks to that influence, my sister and I grew up feeling it was perfectly acceptable for girls to be into games (my sister aspired to be the next Roberta Williams). I do tabletop and we both do console games (we've both worked at Gamestop, and we knew more than most of our male coworkers) and I'm pleased to say that there are a great many more girls into these things than there were ten or even five years ago. Yes, female gamers exist - we tend to stay in clumps, though, so if you find one, you'll probably find a bunch.

As for the influence of Tolkein on DM, I'm still reading the trilogy for the first time (hush!) and I do agree that the particular interpretation of elves and dwarves seems inspired by Tolkein or any of the many people who were inspired by him. I do like that DM isn't so much like D&D; I find the official D&D systems to be somewhat counterintuitive. I don't like all those dice. And, for the record, my dice set is pink. Very pink. There's nothing like sitting down to a tabletop game and making the guys squirm because 1) I'm female 2) I have pink dice 3) I know more about various geeky things than they do. It's amusing, to say the least.

DM has the best system I've ever discovered in any game. It's sheer brilliance. It makes perfect sense, has nothing it doesn't need, and flows so smoothly it almost seems superhuman. While I've found other games I love as much or more, I've never encountered one I consider better made. Forgetting the evolution of graphics over time, DM's system is still superior to what I've encountered both in computer and console games that are far newer.

I am a nearly 18-year-old girl and loooove the Dungeon Master series. I played the original, but I own and beat the Sega CD version of DM2. ^.^ A lot of people think girls don't like these kinds of games....some of us do. :) I also play stuff like Half-Life, Morrowind, and Rise of Nations. I also do a lot of classic gaming (I still play this series quite a bit, plus stuff like Guardian Legend on the NES and Final Fantasy 6 *the only good one in my opinion* on the SNES)...so I pretty much live for gaming. :) I don't have any female friends as a result (they all think I am a freak..and I noticed most girls in my age group all tend to to be the same o.o Living in a town of less than 2,000 people in the middle of nowhere doesn't help either..) but I don't care. :P I love what I do; I have since I was 3, and it has gotten me quite a few dates. ;)

My daughter loves games - In fact I would say she is, what I would term a Game alcoholic..lol

She is mainly into RPG's, the Resisdent evil games and adventures..
She is on line most nights playing Everquest and Counterstrike.
People cannot believe she is female, when playing online with her, It's like, you cannot be female, getting good frags like that, She answers with "Oh, How come" the reply is usually along the lines of - "Cos female s are crap game players????
The many females I have witnessed playing are certainly far from crap, put a few guys to shame..

I think she takes after me, as I started playing as soon as I got my paws on a ZX81..hehehheh

My son is also a game addict, I have yet to convert them both to the delights of DM.
